They didn’t seem to know what they wanted with the Genie. When Will Smith was allowed to play Will Smith in the movie, he was fine. When they painted him blue, and made him do standup, he wasn’t.The big issue with Aladdin is that you had two people who could have easily carried the mantle Robin Williams left behind in the forms of Jim Carrey and Eddie Murphy, both great comedians who are as cartoony as possible.
And they still chose Will Smith. I get they didn't want a repeat of Williams but Carrey and Murphy aren't like Williams; they just have the cartoony energy needed for the role but could still bring something new.
Also save it for after the movie has had its box office run. You can say how you really feel in a couple of years.Lol yeah thats all stuff you save into you're well into your career. Lets not forget how Heigl was dragged for calling out Greys Anatomy writers for having her have fever sex with a ghost.

I don't think Will Smith was a bad choice for the Genie. I knew they were going to go with an A-list box office draw for the role, and before he was cast I was fully expecting them to go with Dwayne Johnson so all in all it could have been worse. They didn’t seem to know what they wanted with the Genie. But the thing to remember is that they've never made an attempt to make the more "cartoony" characters like Genie or Timon and Pumbaa or Lumiere and Cogsworth in the live action movies as cartoonish and lively as their original animated counterparts, no matter who's playing them. The only real exception to this seems to be Stitch in the upcoming remake from what we've seen.
I always thought Gal Gadot was overrated as Wonder Woman. The movie just did a good job at accentuating her strengths and hiding her weaknesses. She never came off as an exceptional acting talent to me and I was also surprised that the minor secondary female character from Fast and Furious ended up becoming Wonder Woman.
You really needed like a powerful strong actress to play the Evil Queen who could really camp it up and deliver with this type of material. Maybe camp is the wrong word. But I think we just needed something from the Evil Queen to liven up such a bland movie. Having the Queen go just unhinged or crazy or chewing the scenery would've been something at least.
Was that when Jeffrey Dean Morgan guest starred?Lol yeah thats all stuff you save into you're well into your career. Lets not forget how Heigl was dragged for calling out Greys Anatomy writers for having her have fever sex with a ghost.
Last Action Hero in general is severely underrated.Arnie in Last Action Hero is severely underrated.
I am just gonna pretend I did not read this massive insult to Arnold Schwarzenegger right now.I always saw Gal Gadot as the female Arnold Shwarzennegger. Nooottt a great actor by any means but has tons of charisma and screen presence. Now even though Arnie has grown tons as an actor over the decades, when he was in his prime he needed someone like a James Cameron to shape a movie around his strengths for him to work. Otherwise he was really cringe but we STILL loved him because he had screen presence for days.
I feel the same about Gal. Her acting is ROUGH, but when shes suited up as Wonder Woman and smiles warmly or wields her sword and shield, she just sells it somehow. I buy her as Diana Prince.
How about Steven Segal?I am just gonna pretend I did not read this massive insult to Arnold Schwarzenegger right now.
LMAO. I'm not gonna lie after I clicked "post" I was second guessing it.I am just gonna pretend I did not read this massive insult to Arnold Schwarzenegger right now.
And she is neither of those things.LMAO. I'm not gonna lie after I clicked "post" I was second guessing it.
I think she's comparable to Arnold. I'm sure people were trashing Arnold's acting skills back in the 80s/90s but again, he was so damn charming and self aware of himself that it worked.
Schwarzenegger was more a Physical Actor, one who did a lot with his body and face...that made him work.LMAO. I'm not gonna lie after I clicked "post" I was second guessing it.
