The CGI in this clip looks pretty good, yeah.

It's the clips that are really giving me hope for this film. The trailers were poor, but the clips look better and better, and now this bit, from what I suppose is a Con in Moscow, looks pretty damn fantastic:

All this new stuff for the film has really started to get me excited for it. Shame that even if it turns out to be good, the **** marketing would end up having it not make much at the Box Office.

Explored that fan page and materials from Moscow a bit more - looks freaking kick-ass. So looking forward to it...

Damn this is looking better and better. Those clips really have me amped for this movie.

What was the budget on this? I think this or Tarzan could be the flop of the summer. Tarzan's budget is reportedly $200 million.

In terms of design its how the dwarves in LOTR and Hobbit should have looked. Not sure about the cgi. Ill need to see it in uncompressed quality. The compositing of the whole shot isnt good tho. Idk if its a budget issue or what, but ILM is better than this. This is compositing Id expect from a second or third tier vfx house.

That being said, Im willing to go out on a limb and say that the compositing might look better in 3D. I just have this sneaking suspicion that what is making these shots look so flat and poor is that the animators did these shots for 3D viewing first and the film just suffers when its shown in 2D.

I could be wrong but Im really curious to see how all this looks in 3D.

Its over $100 million. Thats obvious. You cant make a film like this and market it for $100 million. Around $150 million sounds about right for whats on display and the marketing involved.

I doubt they got $200 million.
