Any idea whats the o/s numbers ?
$562.4m. Been updated on Boxofficemojo now.
Any idea whats the o/s numbers ?
Also with Titanic they apparently murdered all the extras after filming. Solid box office tactic![]()
Here's something I've been wondering and you guys are much more knowledgable than me about BO stuff.
Can ANY future MCU movie gross as much as TA domestically? AoU would obviously have been the prime candidate, but it's not even going to come close. Is it even possible for the Infinity War movies to crack the $600m mark?
Let's just say theoretically that Infinity War is as critically acclaimed as The Avengers.
Numbers are disappointing compared to the first Avengers. As they say in sports, teams are paid to win championships, not playoffs.
Infinity War Part II has to beat TA. Anything less will be jumped on by the pundits as a fail. Here's something I've been wondering and you guys are much more knowledgable than me about BO stuff.

In its second weekend, Disney and Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Age of Ultron remained a force of nature, topping the chart with $77.1 million from 4,276 screens to jump the $300 million mark domestically and putting its world total at a stunning $875.3 million. The tentpole enjoyed the second-biggest sophomore weekend of all time after the first Avengers ($865.3 million).

Its all over folks, cancel the MCU. It had a good run but may it RIP![]()

Titanic did over a billion because it had the best legs ever. 10m a week for months.

It's really baffling how people fail to understand that disappointing BO numbers doesn't necessarily means that a movie performed poorly.
AOU domestic numbers are a disappointment because they will show a huge step down from Avengers but on the other end it will be an extremely profitable movie and even if the prospects for the future of the MCU aren't as huge as they were after Avengers, they are still better than most past, present and future franchises.
The world is a much bigger place now and US domestic is no where NEAR as important as international gross. To be worried when it will still make more than the first movie when all is said and done is pointless. Look at Fast 7 in China.
Civil War will absolutely not do Avengers numbers as Avengers was the peak of the MCU. Avengers was lighting in a bottle. I think Civil War will be lucky to make 375 million domestically and that's a huge number so Marvel should be happy with that. It doesn't help that Marvel are still pretending that it's solely a Captain America sequel. I'm not saying that he won't be the star of the film but it's not even remotely just a Captain America film.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. The world is a much bigger place now and US domestic is no where NEAR as important as international gross. To be worried when it will still make more than the first movie when all is said and done is pointless. Look at Fast 7 in China.
China and Japan still to come. Like others have said - It being the second largest grossing MCU film really isn't the end of the world. If it ends that way.
Marvel/Disney have a very large eye on the international and emerging side of things.
All chill![]()
