The Dark Knight Rises Eckhart on Dent returning: "I could not possibly say."

Hmmmm a vision of Dent during fear gas?

That's what I was thinking.

If they're going "bring it back to Batman Begins" then fear gas/Venom compounds/etc. may well be in it, and it would make a whole lot of sense to me.

Did no one else here Eckhart reply "I am not" when asked if he were returning? It seems like the only reason he said "I could not possibly say" was because that interviewer wouldnt drop it after the first response.

It kinda sounded like he was saying "I'm not?"

Though I wouldn't be surprised if he has gotten sick of repeating himself, and now is having fun by giving answers like this.

I literally just watched another interview before this popped up, with him saying how Nolan told him he was NOT returning, and he mentions how he had been pushing the Battlefield LA director to take on Superman, before they signed Snyder.

If Two-Face is alive, this movie could be weighed down from too many characters. Hopefully they can pull it off, I have faith they can, but Selina Kyle, Bane, Talia, and possible Black Mask and Two-Face? I don't want another X3! However, this is Nolan we're talking, not Ratner.

Talia has not been confirmed for this movie.

Would it be asking too much if at the end of DKR after the story has "wrapped" up; we see Batman and Gordon at Arkham talking about the events and other dialogue that hints at Two-Face being alive. The film ends with a shot of Two-Face in a cell at Arkham. It would leave it open for another sequel but it can also show that Batman will always have work to do. Am I making any sense here...it's been a long day.

IMHO two-face coming back seems way more probable than a return of Ra's. Even though Eckhart's been claiming this isn't the case repeatedly. It almost seems like he's smiling in this interview bcuz the interviewer mentioned "in someone else mind". I'm liking the ideas of a vision of two-face during a dosing of fear toxin & ending TDKR with the reveal that he's alive. That way his inclusion wouldn't distract too much from Bane and Catwoman and whoever the hell else is in i. I've been predicting this since walking out of dark knight, then it came to look unlikely, now I'm just hoping for a coma scene. At least with two-face we can point back to Batman counting on a three story fall not killing a mobster earlier in the overall story, or Batman taking the brunt of the fall, or the coin, or the closed casket, and i doubt we've seen the last of Ramirez. Sure we never saw Ra's body and it's assumed, even stated in print, that two-face was dead but i really do believe that was what Gotham was meant to perceive, and by extension what the general audience is supposed to believe going into the third. To all the haters, at least I'm not *****ing about still wishing the Joker is in there. I can accept it if Dent's not there, just would prefer it if they reveal halfway through that Batman and Gordon only pretended Dent died.

just say no.

 I'm with you buddy, remember Zammo! No way would I stick any of those awful drugs up my nose, bum, fingernails, elbow ends or whistle hole. Keepin it staright edge like a ninja pulled over by the cops on the way home from a ninjabinga. Say .....not to drugs! they are usaully full of hairs and crap like that as they are smuggled into the country in camel's humps, or made out of skateboard wheels plastic and stink of fridges, you basically don't know where these things have been! they should just outlaw human blood as well! that stuff is full of chemicals! Make us all solar powered robots, that is the way to true enlightenment! Stick with me buddy, you won't go astray.

If he's not coming back then why would he say that? He could simply say "No I'm not in The Dark Knight Rises" done with it.

I needed more Two-face instead they killed him off and I highly doubt he's back but I want to "believe in Two-Face"

Exactly my point. Whenever someone says "no comment" I just think they either mean "yes". Or they are just being a *****e and stringing people a long for no real reason.

Yeah, i am the same, I thought they were setting Two-Face up for a further appearance in the third film. Maybe we will get a flashback, in any case, at least we got a good HD/TF story in TDK, even if TF's appearance was shorter than we'd have liked.

edit:

I'm actually already a heroin addict. Sorry

well, like you were just saying half an hour ago in the Bad comic art thread, about Gambit looking like a crack head, maybe you should stop reading so many comic book characters that are a bad influence, and get into My Little Pony, or the Care Bears, I wouldn't mind seeing a crossover with those actually, if you went to see that movie, and went for a pee afterwards, I imagine a little rainbow would come floating out of the toilet, that would be sweet, i wouldn't go looking for any pots of gold down there though.

:D I was joking.

Yeah, I can see that, most heroin addicts do not have all of their front teeth, but your complextion is a little green there. I guess your bright green complextion could be down to something else though, I have stood in gamma iradiated fields for ages trying to get glowing skin like that, I'm quite envious.

Maybe Chris Nolan called him up and was like " yeah Hey Aaron our sypnopsis was spoiled last week I know your doing press junkets for Battle LA why dont you screw with the fanboys and the internet and let people know that you may be in it!!, that would help us out tremendoulsy!!"

I've been saying Two-Face is alive since I first saw The Dark Knight.

And yet he's dead.

If that fall at the end of the movie killed him, then that is a poorly written death for such a significant character.

On the contrary, him dying gave the chazracter significance, not because how he died but because all he was before dying and the significance his death had over Batman and the whole situation.

And the Nolan brothers are not poor writers...

That's why they won't resurrect a dead character.

Its a shame that two face died since eckhart was amazing, the character was done really well and he had so much more potential.

But in the context of the film it was really the only way it could go. Sure he could have been arrested or whatever but it would have been less powerful. Its that ultimate trope/theme that's been with us since the first stories were told: the fall from grace.Once the character falls its only going to end in their death. Dents story is an almost shakespearean tragedy

If Nolan can resurrect two face in a believable way that doesn't cheapen the ending of the dark knight (which would be a challenge and a half) then I would be ecstatic. If not then I'm happy we got an awesome interpretation of my favourite batman villain.

Though a dream sequence/flashback wouldn't go amiss :cwink:

Exactly. Where does Two-Face go from that point in TDK if he had survived. It wouldn't make much sense for the character to become a villain. He went after the people that ****ed him up in TDK. After that theres nothing left

The same place he went in Dark Victory after Long Halloween?

Going after the mob, or anybody his coin decides on.

I'm sure Eckhart is just having a laugh. That's probably what I would do if I was in his position.

But the only way the character is coming back would be through flashback, because he clearly died at the end of TDK.

He's dead the only way he's coming back is a damn commercial featuring Harvey Dent!
Who here wants to bet against me? I'm serious.

Commercial of Harvey Dent:

005TYS_Aaron_Eckhart_001.jpg

"Hello citizens of Gotham, I'm Harvey Dent. I have a vision for the future. I believe Gotham deserves to be prosper. To be ridden of crime and protected by it's people. By it's own good spirit and dedication. Which is why I intend to save this city. I believe in Gotham's people. It's time you did too"

New young lawyer: "We at the Dent firm believed in Harvey Dent. He dedicated his life to this city, we're ready to do the same. We believe in YOU!"

Paid for by the People for Harvey Dent foundation.
