Double wow......so, what do we have now; grounded, different, dark, no costumes, no 'rocky' thing, and low budget with a bad cast? People are just lining up for this one.....cause they'll just see it anyway.

When we all started reading FF, wasn't it because they were dark, gritty, grounded coming-of-age stories?

Which is why whenever I hear Rothman as an excuse why bad decisions in the past happened, in the past and "things are much better now" I can't help but laugh.

Fox should just concentrate on putting quality X-Men stories out. They have a loyal fan base, great actors and actresses attached and 2 films that that I personally can say interest me (DoFP and the upcoming Apocalypse-centered one). At least for now, the teams they have attached to those projects seem to be sensible.

Indeed, they are wasting time and money on Fantastic Four. X-Men seems to be back to quality again after First Class and The Wolverine, they should stick to that world.

Rothman was a big part of what was wrong at Fox though, but I'm sure there is alot of it still there. I'm just bitter because I'm an sci-fi fan and their TV division causes me major anger to all of Fox lol.

But the ironic thing is "dark and gritty" was the thing until Whedon came along and proved that "light and bright" can make much more money. So I don't know why they would cling so tight to that idea.

Honestly? A remake of the 1994 movie appeals to me more than what this seems to be shaping up as. Very little is said about this project,by what is seems like a 180 turn than what I want to see. If someone seriously is looking forward to this, more power to them.

Just remember that when this film fails to find an audience and bombs in the theaters - it will be blamed on Fantastic Four fans who wouldn't get with Fox's program and support the film through word of mouth and social media.

EVERYTHING must be being done at the studio. I don't know anyone around town that's gotten any notices about filming interrupting traffic, or any other types of notices people usually get when they're filming here in town. I have a few friends that work there as "go-fers", and they haven't said anything about it either. It's just strange. The local paper is usually overzealous about this kind of production, but so far nada. I mean...believe me, I certainly don't consider myself "in the loop" or to have any type of "insider info", but this production is incredibly quiet here in Baton Rouge.

Speaking of the '94 film, I'm actually watching it as I type. Horrible films are a guilty pleasure of mine, and boy...this one is up there. Poor Doom overacts so bad because he doesn't know how to convey anything with subtlety. That and the fact that when Johnny fully flames up it basically becomes a cartoon make this WELL worth the $5 eBay splurge.

I STILL maintain my stance that Fox is holding out as long as they possibly can until DOFP is released. For the next three weeks they will be "filming" but it won't be until DOFP's opens to success or failure will we know if FOx is moving forward with FF or shutting it down.

I don't really see how DOFP's success or failure would impact this film's production. If they were filming Apocalypse here or something sure, but I can't imagine an entirely different project would be effected.

It doesn't necessarily have to be "dark" and "gritty" (i loved Chronicle btw) to be good. Fantastic Four has decades of material to mine from with enough light and dark to be opposite of Fox's X-Men. A franchise for the whole family and IMO the potential to make as much money as Spider-Man/Iron Man do.

I'm crossing my fingers that Trank, Kinberg, Vaughn and co. can prove the sceptics, including myself, wrong.

Well, like I said, I sent some feelers to some people I know that are involved at Celtic Media Center which is the studio they're filming at. Hopefully someone can at least tell me if they've shot ANYTHING.

Yeah but no matter how cheap or badly acted, at least that when watching it, it felt like the F4...no matter how cheesy, the costumes were the costumes, Doom was the ruler of Latveria, he had "Doom-soldiers", comic book accurate costume, etc...just take that movies plot, get rid of the Mole Man aka Jeweler, beef it up a bit, and what a very acceptable F4 movie that it could have been....now we will never know

I know that's exactly why I did. I'm excited for this movie. I'm going to see it 10 times.
