What I find interesting is that if the cast does show up (despite the fact that they officially aren't listed) it corroborates justanotherguy's source. MBJ already corroborated that there are in fact daily rewrites on the set. Of course we still shouldn't put much stock in an anonymous source but again... very interesting.

Well MBJ seemed to confirm the idea of rewrites already. If that source wasn't legit, he was a damn good liar who spent a lot of time carefully crafting information that fits everything that is currently know for the reward of impressing a bartender.

I don't think it needs to get ugly. What I personally think would be ideal would be a very tepid, apathetic response from the crowd.

Or instead of ugly at the very least silence. That will also show the crowd has no interest

If they don't show, that tells you Fox could care less about the project. If they do show, it will be interesting. I agree that the crowd will be civil, I can't imagine that they'd openly be disdainful, but I do think they will be tepid and uninterested.

Even if they have a great CC panel, I don't take much stock in that. I thought Green Lantern had a fantastic CC panel and the fans really seemed to be into it, but we all know how the movie turned out.

Well, I thought Reynolds did a good job promoting GL before it came out. It had a poor villain choice in Hector Hammond, but nobody really knew that till later. This FF cast is actually kind of obnoxious. particuliarly this Jordan kid . dragging disabilties into it.

Not sure comparing last years DOFP surprise trump card is apt mind you. Fans were looking forward to that big time and having both casts together on stage was big news.

Plus Fox's press release mentioned a "major surprise" for Comic Con, so even when DOFP was withheld from the schedule, the inference was clear. No such luck for FF this year.

You say that like impressing me isn't it's own reward.

Apparently rewrites on set are a very common occurrence I just saw an interview of something unrelated. In it the actors and actress involved were talking about how rewrites of scenes were being done to the very last minute. So I wouldn't read too much into it.

LR: You are involved with FANTASTIC FOUR; will we see any of it at this year’s Comic-Con?
Simon Kinberg: No, I can definitively officially tell you that there will not be anything from FANTASTIC FOUR at this year’s Comic Con. We are still very much in the middle of shooting and we don’t want to show anything until it’s ready and it’s not ready yet. We want the first stuff that we show from the film to really blow people away, and it will but we have got to wait until it’s ready.
LR: You don’t want to do a disservice to the film…
Simon Kinberg: Yes, we are hopefully going to be refining the way the people see the FANTASTIC FOUR movies. There are so many things we are doing different from the previous film and so many things different from other comic books films. When we really step forward we want it to be with our best foot forward. Instead of rushing something together for the Con we’d rather really wait until we have that perfect first image, perfect first sequence and first scene to show people. And I know that there’s a lot of people that think that’s the big surprise from Fox this year at the Con and knowing that I’m talking to a reporter and I’m going on record that I’m saying unfortunately that will not be a surprise for the fans of Comic-Con this year. Obviously the Comic-Con world is incredible important to FANTASTIC FOUR and because of that we want to give them the best version of what we are making.
LR: Ultimate FANTASTIC FOUR was bonkers, eventually making Reed Richards one of the biggest villains of the line and the Classic FANTASTIC FOUR comics play broad and goofy to a modern audience. Kate Mara recently said that the new FANTASTIC FOUR is different from the comics and it's not surprising. What's the crux of the FANTASTIC FOUR to you?
Simon Kinberg: I actually think that this FANTASTIC FOUR movie is sort of a celebration of all the FANTASTIC FOUR comics that have preceded it. We have elements from the original FANTASTIC FOUR that there’s a sort of optimism and inspirational quality to the film. In some ways a comedy that was really distinct in the original FANTASTIC FOUR. Also, the notion of this dysfunctional surrogate family that comes together and has to work together is very present in the movie that owes a great debt to the originals. And this idea that they are scientist and that it’s almost like this science adventure, more than being superheroes, they are almost like scientific adventurers, that’s a big part of the movie too. We also owe a lot to the Ultimate’s and the current crop of FANTASTIC FOUR comics and you’ll see that. I don’t want to give anything away but you will see it in the details and a lot of the story telling. It’s really sort of inspired by all the different history of the FANTASTIC FOUR comics. I think what Kate meant, and I read that comment, I think what she meant which was right is that it’s not based on any one run. DAYS OF FUTURE PAST was obviously based on DAYS OF FUTURE PAST comic run and that was something that I could easily give the actors to read and they’d know the whole story. In this case because we are really snatching details, story lines, moments, action sequences from across the whole gambit of the decades of FANTASTIC FOUR, there isn’t one comic that defines the movie.
Lots more. http://www.latino-review.com/news/e...-four-and-x-men-apocalypse-with-simon-kinberg

That is actually a really good thing to come out and say. The perception of the film currently is it has little to do with Fantastic Four, so good on them for at least trying to convince people otherwise.

Oh my god will Simon Kinberg ever shut up? "The fact that we've been supposedly filming for months now but don't have anything to show for Comic Con is a good thing because it means we're waiting for the perfect footage to fall into our hands for us to show you! The low budget is a good thing because it means we're about quality over quantity! The fact that we've been insulting fans of the source material is a good thing, because it gives them a thicker skin and helps them in the long run and it builds character!"

He is the world's largest *****e bag.

Well, that's that. I call ******** on the fact that they don't have anything at all to present for the Con after all this time, when ****ing Guardians of the Galaxy managed to produce an awesome sizzle reel last year despite only being days into shooting and having a larger scale than FF.

They do have footage but aren't ready to present it yet. He said they want it presented as best as possible. Given the fanbases tendency to shall we say overreact I can't blame them for not rushing a clip I'm disappointed however I think they shoulda had a panel and presented the logo

maybe my negativity was premature.. Kinberg's comments are pretty encouraging.

this could end up being a great movie. it just bums me out that we don't get to see any F4 characters in the MCU..

Of course they should have. Trank, Kinberg and company should be spending every waking moment not spent on found-footage filming and re-writes convincing skeptical fans that this reboot in the last year before rights reversion is worth their time. Most longtime FF fans will never support this film to the extreme degree that fans of the X-Men film series have done, but showing confidence in this film is the first step. The fact that they are turtling speaks volumes.

:funny:

He's certainly saying the right things in that interview. It could be complete BS, but the thing that's been so frustrating up to this point that they've seemed so ignorant and/or dismissive of what we want that they couldn't even BS effectively.

This interview is the first thing we've seen - really since the project was announced - that shows a recognition of what fans want, and if they at least recognize what fans want, that's a good thing.

Disappointing that they won't show anything at Comic-Con.

They're too vague for me to have a sense of how any of that will actually play out, but they're one of the first things I've heard in at least a year that wasn't discouraging. Given my lowered expectations, I'll call that encouragement.

They were shooting for two weeks actually. And the sizzle reel they showed is what we got in the first trailer for GOTG. I agree, it's ********. Action sequences, set building and the VFX team will already be working on the VFX well into pre-production. They have been shooting since like what? April, May? Yeah I don't believe Kinberg's words here. Some of the stuff he said was a bit encouraging but I'm still VERY cautous. Well at least we have Age of Ultron footage to look out for.

Still not blowing a whole lot of wind up my proverbial skirt, but at least he is putting in a much better effort there than everyone else being interviewed atm.

"more than being superheroes, they are almost like scientific adventurers, that’s a big part of the movie too."

Some more of that and less of all this 'grounded' guff everyone else has been leading with does offer encouragement though.

Will continue to manage expectations all the same.
