Days of Future Past First Class Official Casting Thread

Anyone else get a feeling they may [BLACKOUT]kill off Banshee at some point[/BLACKOUT]? We know the others are around for the trilogy and having everyone survive isn't very dramatic.

who knows?.....

I suppose there will be one death, but it could be any student, or someone closer to Xavier.

Well yeah...just a little..

 Who says there's an age minimum to "fighting for mutant rights"?

Also, why pay attention to such a horrible line? Beast just happens to know when Logan got claws (even though he was later found to be born with them), but doesn't seem to also know that Logan is like, 180 years old? I don't think it necessarily confirms Hank as being an "old man" in X3 either...

I would just ignore that quip altogether... :p

..and if you don't, we can assume that this movie will take place in the early 1990's (Let's say 1991). If we can assume that Beast is about 40 in X3 (2006), that means that he just needs to appear around 25 during this time.

Whether or not they portray Beast as a teen or a young adult is anyone's guess, but I think Hoult could pull off a young twentysomething.

I'm not looking to get into a debate about a line of dialogue in The Last Stand, as the point of my post is that I don't care if the films match. :yay:

It's possible, I suppose.

In the comics, Banshee was first an Interpol agent, and in the early comics he was forced to join a villainous group called Factor Three who fought the X-Men.

When the new team was formed in 1975, Banshee then joined the X-Men, then left to run a new school (Massachusets Academy) with Emma Frost and, in a later story, died trying (unsuccessfully) to stop a plane collision.

Since we don't see Emma in the later trilogy either, it could be that he leaves the X-Men with her to found another school. Also, in the comics he falls in love with Moira MacTaggert so he could leave to be with her on Muir Island.

I think it's more likely he goes off with Emma or Moira.

we didn't see him, but, we did see his daughter (assuming they keep the family contection) so, he at least live long enough to have a kid lol

So how old is Prof X and everyone else supposed to be in this movie? MacAvoy just looks young to be a mentor to these kids.

McVoy is playing Xavier from early 20s to about his 40s. It's easier to make him look older then the other way around.

idk, it seems like they well be show Xavier in different stages in his life, start from when he was a young man... so, prehap once they get to the point of the story where he start to take on students, they'll age him, with makeup and such...

so, they wanted to cast someone young (like MacAvoy) to give him a bigger age range...

XMFC News Break!

With production expected to begin soon on FOX's prequel to the "X-Men" trilogy, X-Men: First Class, casting for the film is on the ball, with "Beast" & "Banshee" announced earlier today.

And now according to Entertainment Weekly, Lucas Till is in negotiations to play the role of Alexander “Alex” Summers aka Havok in the Matthew Vaughn-directed "First Class". Born in Texas, 19 year old Lucas Till is apparently known from his starring role in television parts, including his roles on House, Hannah Montana: The Movie, and grammer winner, Taylor Swift's first music video.

Info on the "Havok" character via Marvel, "Havok is a mutant with the superhuman ability to absorb ambient cosmic energy into the cells of his body, transform it in an unknown manner, and release it as waves of energy that heat the air in their path enough to turn it into plasma, which is a super-heated state of matter consisting of charged subatomic particles. These waves will emanate from his body in all directions unless he purposefully tries to channel them in a single direction, usually along the length of his arms. Havok is himself immune to the intense heat he creates, as well as the power blasts generated by his brother Cyclops."

Speaking of Cyclops, EW confirms that Kick-Ass & Twilight stars, Aaron Johnson & Taylor Lautner are NOT appearing in "First Class". And NOTE that EW also says to keep in mind that Havok, Beast, and Banshee castings may not be the actual characters in the movie. Instead, this could be part of a misdirection campaign to keep some surprises from X-Men fans.

If it turns out to be true, Till joins James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), and Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee). And in a story that focuses on Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr as young men, when discovering their powers for the first time, filming begins this summer in London, hitting theaters June 3rd next year.

Yeah, it was posted!
I'm excited to see Havok.

I wonder when we will finally be getting some female X-men casting..

But him?? I dont know. I havent really watched much of his work, but Im sure they can find someone better.

He looks ok for the part... I suppose he won't have a big role anyways.

I think Till will end up playing Scott. You cast Cyke's younger brother the same age as the guy you just cast as Beast? Doesn't make sense. I am all for new characters, but this isn't X-4.

You don't have to look at it that way. The age of the actors is not a great guide in determining how they will look in the film or how their ages will be portrayed relative to their actual age..

I mean, wasn't Shawn Ashmore like 21 in the first X-Men, but was playing a 17 year old?

Till is actually a year younger. But if the Aaron Johnson is Cyclops rumors are true, there's only like a two month difference between Scott and Alex.

How is that possible? Did they have different mothers?

I meant the actors playing them, not the actual characters. Johnson was born like June of 1990 and Till was born August.

I just think Beast has to be a 25 year old guy... at least. Especially if he is human in the beginning of this. Why do you want a teen in that role? He's supposed to be a wiser/older figure. Now if this shows his first meeting with Xavier I don't have a problem with a young actor. Maybe they get an older actor later on when Till and maybe Johnson come in at a later time. But Cyke and the rest need to come later and not the same time. Now with the makeup and hair Beast will obviously look older, but looking like the character and talking like the character are apples and oranges. The Emma/Moira age discrepancies don't bother me as much because those roles were throwaways, but Kelsey Grammer wasn't a throw away.

Would be pretty interesting to see Havok in this film but he might just be a useless cameo.

I agree with what you said about Beast's age FaT tONIe. If he's in X-men 3 as an older man, somewhat around Xavier's age, then he shouldn't be too young in this film when the original team starts up.

It's not much we can go on right now until we know how the span of time will be covered, what ages their aiming for in the character portrayals and who else will be actually on Xavier's side at any given time.
