J.K. Rowling created a 7 book series that took 10 years to complete. GRRM has a 7 book series that will take 20 (+?) years to complete. Imagine if it took as long to come out with each season of the show. And it just takes him forever to complete a book because it probably isnt his main goal.
Long time Harry Potter fan here, J.K. Rowlings writing style, work ethic, and books are not comparable to GRRM. These are people. Not slaves. They work at different paces, and while we are paying for the books it is by no means this author's sole purpose to please us. He wants to take 30 years its his choice. There are thousands of books out there and many good ones. Read something else in the meantime.

I hope Victarion becomes the king. Dude is a beast. Definitely among my favorite characters. Hopefully the next book drops this upcoming year. Need that in my life.

A thousand times yes. Victarion is basically George RR Martin's very own version of Conan the Barbarian.

Big Vic don't **** around.

GRR's Conan the Barbarian?! Does this guy show in the 3rd season? Can i get a short summary of how he is like Conan the Barbarian?

A question who was the wildling with Jon Snow with the skull mask. Is he who Cirian Hinds is playing

He shows up in the fourth book as a main point of view character.

Basically he's this hulking barbarian pirate who shares Conan's disgust at society and simple world view of "live, love, slay". He's a cunning and mighty warrior who craves battle and is unrelenting on those he hates yet he believes in showing his enemies respect.

Though Ofcourse him being a GRRM creation, he has his fare share of darker aspects, particularly with his Ironborn heritage and that cultures treatment of women.

20 years is hardly slave driving. As I said in one of my previous posts of course he has the right to take all the time he wants. But just like with anything, I think it shouldnt take that long to get out 7 books just like I would critize the producers on the show if it took them 20 years to get the complete series out and only have it be 7-9 seasons long, or anyone to do with almost anything.

In your mind it shouldnt take that long. That is your prerogative. GRRM's is that it gets done when it gets done. As a person who doesnt get in a hurry I find this admirable. Many artist take many years to complete their works. Artists are not known for their strict schedules. If his publisher doesnt mind he really has no reason to rush himself, and while you may not consider him being rushed anytime an artist is told that they should finish quicker they are being rushed. Personally if I was him and had a bunch of people telling me what they consiser to be an acceptable pace I may just find myself turned off by the process and find I dont feel like writing for a while. Then again I can be spiteful from time to time. Regardless, GRRM will finish when he is finished and in the meantime we can enjoy other good works we havent gotten to read yet. Its a win win.

As much as it pains me to have to wait, I would much rather the guy take the time it takes and put out something great, rather than have him give in to pressure and write a bunch of crap. He can take as long as he wants. :)

One thing I've been sad about is the fact that we have gotten no real "trailer" yet for season 3. I know they don't need to hype the show that much because now it pretty much sells itself but I would love to see one. We got the date one, but I would hardly call that a trailer. The behind the scenes stuff was cool, but when watching Boardwalk's final episode I was hoping for a trailer like they did last year.

Hopefully soon they get a trailer out.

I think it was the same for Season 2. Too bad I doubt a trailer can top Season 2's Sevin Devils trailer.

We didn't get a trailer for season 2 until the end of January last year. I'd expect the same for season 3.

Really? I could have sworn the "Cold winds are rising" trailer with Stannis was shown in December with the finale of Boardwalk.

Even though Emilia Clarke got a fat butt, hottest person on this show is Lena Headey. She can verbally abuse me any time.

FYI Drizzle, I just looked "The Cold Winds are Rising' trailer was indeed on December 12th of 2011. So ya, we are lacking a trailer.

Hmmm I waiting more for Best Buy's. I'm hoping they do what they did last time and have collectors editions with one of the families on it. I got the Stark (and the collectors edition I have has 4 of the main families) but I wish I would have gotten the Targaryen as well.

I wonder if they will do Lannister/Baratheon ones this time?

Just saw a Season 3 teaser from their FB page. Teaser is an apt word, it was just the three eyed crow flying around. It had no real footage in it. :(

Ya I'm done with the teases lol. Give me a trailer.

Give me trailer or go Hodor your Hodor HBO!
