She destroyed the economy because she shut down the slave trade. Not the other way around. When she shut it down, the right thing to do, it crippled the economy. That couldn't be helped tho because even in America the loss of the slave trade crippled the souths economy and left many former slaves in a terrible situation. Not saying slavery is right but anytime you remove a system it causes consequences.[blackout] Had Essos went along with her the economy would have recovered eventually and a better solution than slavery would have come about. However they declared war and made the situation worse[/Blackout] That isn't Danys falt. When she shut it down she did offer these people help. In the case of her handmaids she gave them a wonderful life. I don't see how that is wrong. They aren't slaves in any definition of the word.

Also the reason why these girls can't leave dany and have a better life is because of the problems already present in Essos prior to Dany's arrival. It isn't a capitalist society. There are no opportunities for common women. And in the short time Dany has been in Essos she has made every effort to do the right thing morally and fix the problems with nothing but contempt from the locals. Do you really expect her to be able to install an equal rights for women and all common folk in the short time she has been there?

and Jon is that Jon Snow guy, and the things they're trying to stop are those monster things that showed up at the end of Season 2?

Yes, Jon Snow is the Jon I am referring to. The Wall is a giant structure built of ice meant to keep bad things in the far north out of the rest of Westeros, like the White Walkers. The Wall is defended by the Night's Watch, which Jon Snow was/is apart of. They dress all in black.

I really liked it. In both its depiction and the way it made the world feel more fantastical.

I liked it, myself. Simple, to the point and it made giants fit in the world rather than just "hey, here's a giant since this is a fantasy story."

I haven't seen that movie yet. I want to but I agree the cgi giants in the trailers were subpar for a film of that budget.

The CG itself wasn't that bad but when you could've easily do practical effects/camera tricks the way this show did, it would've feel a lot more real and would've cost them a whole a lot less.

I liked it, myself. Simple, to the point and it made giants fit in the world rather than just "hey, here's a giant since this is a fantasy story."

No not in a bad way, it was sort of that LOTR fantastical whimsy as opposed to the other fantasy on the show which has tended to be darker. That's what makes GOT's great through is that the acting and emotions are so grounded that you sometimes forget this is indeed a fantasy show and those fantasy moments hit you with a bigger impact.

I agree on the Jack and the Giant slayer comments, that the cg insert/prosthetics they used looked better than the pure cg they used for the movie. It's the same reasons the dire wolves on the show look so much better than the CG wolves from twillight. The combination of CG with real figures and animals works best unless you have an avatar budget and even then.

Btw, the Giant's depiction was amazingly perfect. I loved it, felt more realistic then say...GRAWP from Harry Potter

I've read all the books and I hadn't heard of that theory. It seems unlikely.

It is some bull that started getting momentum with the last book. If it happens, I want nothing to do with this series anymore.

In what way tho does this make her ok with slavery which was your original statement? She is a terrible diplomat and ignorant of a long standing culture in Essos. Ignorant to the point of destruction, but Dany believes what she is doing is right and she is against slavery. We have no reason to think that her thoughts that we are able to read are lies. In her mind slavery is bad. Its just too bad that she couldn't be more sensitive to Essos culture and find a good compromise until she could effectively get rid of slavery. She really shouldn't have stayed in Essos but I think that the mistakes she has made there will help her in westeros. That is unless GRRM kills her lol. Knowing him its possible.

I thought it was funny in sundays episode when tywin said "and since I cant prove you aren't my son..." it made me think of how the proponents of this theory might use that as proof that D&D know its true.

You miss my point by pulling that line in my post out of context. You said you don't think Dany is actually anti-slavery. We have read her thoughts. We know that she is anti-slavery. She thinks and believes in no slavery. It is a conviction for her. Dany doesnt believe in slavery and it couldn't be any clearer in the books. Now back to the tv show.

The explosions at blackwater bay last year really made me in awe of how good this show's cgi is. This year they seem to have already topped themselves.

I've seen her with handmaidens who have nowhere else to go through no fault of her own that she took in from squalor and filth and who have devoted themselves to her because of her love and care but I have seen no slaves.
