I was really impressed with how they handled Shireen, the perfect balance of hope and melancholy and I love the change that she's the one who is going to teach Davos to read.

She was terrific. That kid has an Olivier Award too. She played Matilda on stage in London - she and the other three girls who shared the role won the Best Actress award.

Uhm... pedo alert?? :woot:

Gendry isn't supposed to be that much older than Arya. I think he'd be a "minor" too.

Hmmm. Still don't despise Tywin. Is that little girl part fishfolk, or does she just have a skin condition?

I wanted to go to Westeros and invent skin cream for the poor lovely girl.

Was that a Hedge Knight reference with the Shireen/Davos scene? That's pretty cool.

"The word is Aegon, the A-E-G sounds like egg."

Very good reference indeed, especially given that Egg is something like her great-great grandfather.

Stannis has a kid....huh? Since when? Was this some new revelation this episode bc I didn't think he had any children

Was shocked to see Ned in the recap.

Sansa to marry Tyrion? Not something I expected to see nor want to

The only thing they've ever said about Stannis on the show is that all the sons his wife had ever given him were stillborn. I don't think they mentioned him having a daughter up to this point.

I just don't have Stannis pegged down...

Man I felt bad for his daughter..what a crap life..she seems cool and level headed though despite the surrounding lunacy/conditions..I hope she develops into a cool character, really seems to have a good heart.

I partly hope Stannis turns himself around..he hasnt done anything reprehensible at this point but clearly is brainwashed by the witch. He needs to make up with his old sailor buddy..but somehow I'm doubting it will happen..that guy is awesome and has some of the worst luck of any of the characters.

Which I don't really get how these Brothers without Banners seem to worship the same god as the witch, but are being depicted more as good. I'm confused...and loving it.

I've been turning my opinion on Jaime this season as well..

Not sure on the passage of time...but I thought they gave his age at one point and it was only like 15 max. i think it may have been less.

The religion itself isn't evil, just certain followers.

Like pretty much every religion.

If there's one thing this ep showed, it's that Brienne has a nice ass. :o

Like chamber-music said, I loved Bolton playing mind games with Jaime. He seems nice but I dunno lol. I don't trust anyone now.

True. As someone on youtube hilariously put it, a staring contest between Tywin and Stannis would last YEARS.

Someone should make a GIF of this.

I still have recovered from the Kissed by fire scene....

Anyways, I have watched it all the way through three times now and it easily my favorite episode of the season, and definitely one of my favorites of the series. Men made of fire, flaming sword fights, Arya being the one with the the largest set in Westeros and yet still so vulnerable (Gendry abandoning her and her thoughts on her father), Stannis and his baby girl and crazy wife, Davos learning to reading, the bath scene brought to life, Robb being his father's son, Selmy being a boss, Sansa trying to play Littlefinger, A Lannister family meeting, Kissed by fire and still so much more.

Yeah, that was pretty incredible. Every scene was class.

The time thing is hard to tell.

Also, we haven't seen much character interaction between certain presumably close characters. Did Robb and Sansa ever even have a conversation on screen?

Sansa hasn't really been that close to her siblings as she started becoming more... girly. Her and Arya were close by default as they were both girls.

Basically-
- Jon is everyone's favorite. Arya, Robb, and Bran adore him and he spent a lot of time with each of them.
- Robb was very close to Jon and to a lesser extent Bran.
- Arya was like another brother, very close to Jon, but by default spent a lot of time with Sansa.
- Sansa started living in her own little bubble.
- Rickon too young really. Bran by default.

One has to wonder if Rickon remembers half his family, since he hasn't seen them in so long. His mother hasn't been home since season one, apparently.

"By what right does the wolf judge the lion? By what right?"

Loved that they kept that line.
