Gotham Gotham Season 1, Episode 12 "What The Little Bird Told Him" General Discussion

I been trying to catch up on a couple of episodes that I missed before the winter break. I work Monday evenings so I have to DVR it. Anyway, I thought this episode was meh/okay. The show has definitely gotten better but I still can't get over how many Batman villians have already been introduced on this show. It's only season 1 and we already seen Riddler, Ivy, Harvey, Zasaz, Penguin, cat woman, ( maybe Joker) electrocutioner, crime families such as Carmine and Maroni. It's also been confirmed Robin's parents are coming to the show as well as Johnathan Crane and Harley Quinn. Crane and Quinn might be introduced next season but still. At this rate they might as well skip to years later when Bruce is ready to appear as batman. Otherwise, most of Bat's rouges gallery will be middle aged or older by the time he starts being Batman.

You missed Harvey Dent, Hush and Black Mask's daddy :cwink:

Harley Quinn hasn't been confirmed. Joker definitely hasn't appeared, nor will he any time soon. And the Electrocutioner on the show isn't any version of that character from the comics, so he's probably just going to be the start of the legacy of that super-villain title.

I read an article like a month or two ago with one of the producers on the show and people asked them questions about Joker and Harley Quinn. I can't remember where I read the article but I think it was on IGN.com. Anyway, the producer did say that they plan on introducing Harley Quinn on the show at some point. Also, its been rumored that the unfunny comedian in the pilot episode in Fish's club is the man that will eventually become Joker. But they said are gonna tease the joker in a number of ways.

I have to admit I had this show written off after the second episode. But it has gotten a lot better IMO and I actually enjoy it now.

I would not be surprised if they do a "time jump" after 2-3 seasons to "5 Years later" or something. Throw a mustache on Jim get an older actor for Bruce and the other younger actors and carry on.

It needs a time jump, badly. Fast forward a couple of years, showing the demise of Gotham even further and Bruce starting traveling around the world. The show could then split up in "Gotham" and another show following Bruce in his quest toward Batman. They could even end Gotham in S3 and start over with a fresh cast this way.

I'm hoping we have seen the last of Fish very soon.

You will never get enough Fish.

I like how Electrocutioner was defeated so easily, similar to his is appearance in Arkham Origins.

Gotham is getting better and better with each episode in my opinion.

Kind of ironic that Fish seemed to respect Falcone enough to not want his death, but will likely draw a painful death from this 'plan' of hers.

I think I liked the last episode better. This episode was fine when it stuck to Gordon, Bullock and the Electricutioner story but everything else kinda fell flat for me.

6/10

There is also the pragmatic issue that if she just killed him that could set off an internal conflict for power that outside families could take advantage of. A clean transfer of power of Falcone steeping down and blessing her as his replacement would be better for the family.

Sucks they scrapped Gordon as an Arkham security guard so soon. There were some interesting possibilities they could have mined with that but instead it was only for a single episode and largely inconsequential.

Really good episode. Both narratives in the episode were very intriguing, especially Falcone's. I think the actor portraying him is excellent. Kinda miss Bruce scenes, but the quality of the past 2 episodes definitely make up for it.

Yeah, I was surprised about that, kind of feels cheaper now that he went through all of that and got reinstated so easily. Gordon comes off a little too invincible in this series, so far anyways. Whenever there's a setback it just gets dealt with in no time flat.

This is one of the better episodes of the season. It will be better if they focus on the villains they have instead of trying to shoe horn in the entire rogues gallery. Also good to see this show can have some surprising deaths and suspenseful moments. I still think the show can work without flash forwarding to Batman. Although a Batman year one tv series would be amazing . Especially using this cast.

Nice to see Peter Scolari as Commissioner Loeb.
Scolari has connections to other DC shows.
2 appearances on B:TAS voicing "Shark" on the TERRIBLE TRIO and "John Hamner" on MOON of the WOLF episodes.
Also voiced RAY PALMER on Batman: The Brave and The Bold. "Sword of the Atom".

A much better episode, that had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire runtime.

As usual, the best storyline was the Fish/Falcone subplot. It was about time Fish made her move, but again, I do wonder why she revealed her identity so soon? I have completely warmed up to Jada Pinkett Smith and I'll be sad to see her go, considering how much she has refined this character from the broad caricature we saw in the pilot. I just wonder how much kicking and screaming she'll do before she finally goes out.

The stuff with Electrocutioner was fun and certainly quite comic-booky. As usual, the protagonist has no problem disposing of him. It was quite the cute moment when Jim just tossed the water.

Other observations:

- Loving the Riddler storyline and I'm impatiently waiting for him to snap
- Barbara is still a bore, but at least the scene with her parents was suitably creepy.
- Nice to see Zsasz again!
- I'm still not sold on the whole Gordon/Tompkins romance. They need to give Leslie a much better personality (Baccarin can only do so much).

Wonderful episode.

Yeah funny how easily Electrocutioner was taken out.
