Help: Dumbest Batman Movie Moments

Who said he did that within the hour? He knew Gotham wouldn't just bow down to his rule, and there'd be an evacuation because of his threat. "Those of you who don't want to be in the game, get out now". So he obviously booby trapped the obvious modes of transport they'd use to evacuate the City with.

As for the hospital, since he intended to go and visit Harvey Dent there anyway, he obviously intended to blow it up afterward, because he also took the hospital staff as hostages for his final set up in the Prewitt building. Not to mention he's got the City in his pocket at this point.

All of this was planned in advance because it was his big final scheme to push Gotham, and it's White Knight, over the edge.

"If what's his name isn't dead within an hour I'll blow up a Hospital". This shows me that he didn't plan this until the threat of Batman's id being exposed. Even if he intended to blow it up anyway you still can't wheel in a butt load of explosives into a hospital without anyone noticing. Same thing with the boats.

Impossible to do without being noticed. Normally I wouldn't care but this is supposed to be "realistic".
How so? I imagine janitor and maintenance worker costumes aren't hard to come by, especially if you kill the real staff.

Joker plays with the cards he's dealt. He probably had a whole different plan set up, then decided to include Reese into his new game.

It doesn't matter if their wearing janitor cloths or not, we're talking about hundreds of barelles with explosives which would take hours to set up and wire. Plus with heightened security because Harvey was there. Somebody would have noticed, than again this is the same city where people didn't notice a bus parked inside of a bank.

We never saw where the explosives where placed. We only know that some of them were in hospital rooms, excluding Harvey's. Air vents, closets, and drawers all could have served as hiding locations. It's been awhile since I've seen the movie, but I don't recall so much as heightened security, like it was Defcon 4, or something.

This is also the same city full of corruption, including the Cops, like the ones who helped put Harvey in the hospital in the first place. A city where Harvey's office has corrupt people working in it. A city so corrupt that Arkham can be used to manufacture poisons and dump into Gotham's water supply for weeks unnoticed.

Um, everybody.

You'll have to elaborate. I've only seen a handful of people claim such a thing. What is the basis for this claim, because Nolan's Batman movies are anything but realistic?

Did you believe everything you saw on screen in Begins and TDK was a depiction of real life? You don't have to have an army of missile toting penguins, or be a mass murdering clown who announces on TV where he'll be at midnight, and have no Cops there to arrest you, in order to be unrealistic. True, Nolan took out some of the outrageous elements like Ra's Al Ghul's immortality/lazarus pits, Joker being perma white etc. But that didn't make the movies realistic.

I've watched Batman fall off a Penthouse, catch a girl and then land on the car with no one suffering injury.

I've watched a man get burned on his face to the point of bone being visible and walk around with no problem and no infection.

I've watched Batman use Sonar to recon an entire building.

I have seen machines that vaporize water supplies being used to spread toxins in a city.

I have seen ninjas living in the Himalayas plotting to balance the world's injustices.

Where is this realism everyone is supposedly talking about?

If the Nolan movies were 100% realistic, Harvey's left eye would have dried out and he probably would have died from infection within a few hours with no antibiotics.

It doesn't matter how corrupt Gotham is, people would still notice hundreds of barrels of explosives being put in a hospital. That's something that bothers me, I't doesn't mean it has to bother you.

You don't have to sell me that the movies aren't realistic, but you will see all over these boards shoot ideas like Robin or Killer Croc because they "don't fit in Nolan's realistic vision" of Batman. BTW that would make a pretty good list of "Dumbest Batman Movie Moments".

What makes you think it was brought in barrels? It could have been smuggled in medical containers, hospital trolleys, deliveries of bed sheets, food etc.

Containers, packages, boxes, deliveries etc go in and out of hospitals all the time. It'd be ridiculously easy to smuggle explosives in and out. It's no different to all of the fear toxin getting into Arkham for weeks, and the water poisoning operation also going on for weeks in Arkham unnoticed. In Nolan's Gotham, there's corruption everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

You're watching a comic book movie. Suspension of belief is a pre requisite in order to watch it. And this is one of the easier ones to swallow.

Yes, I know. But what those people don't realize is that just because some characters don't suit the tone of the universe Nolan has established doesn't make it realistic.

What makes me think it was in barrels? Well Rachel and Dent were in two separate locations filled with them and we also had two boats filled with them. So unless Nolan shows otherwise, one must assume barrels were used to blow up the hospital.

I would have if the Joker had some small powerful explosive instead of barrels. For me it's lazy writing, a simple change of the device to a smaller one would have eliminated any questions I and I assume other people had. It probably wouldn't have bothered me so much if I didn't already have problems with both TDK and BB.

Again, I agree.

Why must one assume it was barrels just because he used it on Rachel and Dent? There was no need to hide explosives in those situations. He wasn't trying to conceal them from anyone. Same on the boats.

He didn't use barrels on Judge Sirillo's car, for example. That contained a small explosive easily hidden on the roof of her car, yet powerful enough to obliterate her car.

So I'd say it's more obvious he used less conspicuous explosives like that in the hospital.

He did. The Judge Sirillo example above.

A building is a lot harder to blow up than car.

Of course, dude, I'm not saying he used just ONE of those little powerful explosives. If just one can destroy a car, then imagine many of them planted all over the building.

"Doesn't the hero ever kiss the girl!?" scene from batman Forever....

Ack!

Alicia must come from the "Drew Barrymore (who was incidentally, in Batman Forever) School of Acting".:hehe:

I thought we were passed the whole Burtonite thing. I guess not.

burtonite? i liked all 6 films, even if nolans are my least favorite i still enjoy them. i ust thought these scenes would make a fine addition to this thread, since its the topic after all.
