But the character you're referencing was a New Yorker. From Queens. That accent was very appropriate, and not remotely overdone, imo.

I agree, it fit with Spidey, plus he was exaggerating the accent for comedic purposes.

I thought Cavill's American accent was fine in Blood Creek and The Cold Light of Day.

The Cold Light of Day was filmed in Spain and the only Americans in the film were Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. The cast and crew were mostly European.

Man Of Steel was filmed in the U.S and Canada with most the cast and crew being American which will probably make it easier for him to do a American accent as he would of been hearing it all day long. I'm sure people on set would of said if his accent wasn't good enough as well.

To be honest, Cavill's accent in Cold Light of Day was pretty much horrible throughout. It wasn't as if he was good for the most part and had some slight cracks. It's inconsistent throughout and never really sounded good.

Oldman gave his all in the three films, at least imho, and a few little accent slips won't change that. If that's the only thing to remark, well, then you are either sad or only in it to cry about everything. With that kind of attitude you won't be able to enjoy any movie. Ever.

Wow, your reading comprehension and argumentation skills really need work. Have I made a single post complaining about Oldman's accent slips or saying that they ruined anything for me personally? Furthermore, because I pointed out actual flaws in your response to Excelsior, you insult me personally because only a "sad" person or someone "only in it to cry about everything" would remark about such things? Was just watching the Red Carpet bit of the Baftas tonight and the presenter mentioned Henry (referring to his as Superman ) as he is joint presenting an award.

Just thought i'd mention that, didn't know if it was common knowledge

I didn't think much of it either, but I wonder if having listened to him talk so many times and getting used to his British accent isn't a factor in me not buying his American one as natural, but as an effort. I fear it's gonna be a problem for my appreciation of his performance in MOS, since I've probably seen more footage of him in interviews as Cavill the person than as a character in film or TV.
