Somebody needs to post another pic of Cavill.

@hafizbat Cavill was not anywhere near 3% body-fat for his shirtless scene. Aside from that being near death, top bodybuilders who literally dehydrate themselves for days before competitions only usually get down to around 5% bodyfat minimum.

He was probably around 10% in that scene which is more than fine.

Of course even in that scene that wasn't a totally accurate representation of his "resting weight". For shirtless scenes actors get a "pump on" i.e lift heavy weights in short reps right before to engorge the muscles and help to exaggerate that "pumped-up" look.

You're probably right, I myself was a little surprised by the 3-4% body fat as that seems really unrealistic. I remember reading that number in the Gym Jones interview about training Cavill, but I could be wrong.

Either way, I still think he should've retained the majority of his awesome gains, even at 15-20% body fat, than losing ALL of his hard earned muscle.

However, I've heard about Chris Evans saying he hates being big as he was in the first Captain America movie because his joints don't feel good and he feels too heavy.

I guess it depends on the person and how comfortable they feel. Hugh Jackman seems to love being jacked all the time haha

My nightmares. :o

Yeah well, if you like them so much, maybe you can try and earn that same body yourself. :hehe:

Sorry I'm being so defensive on this. It pisses me off when people do this with women, and it's rarer that it happens to men. But it pisses me off just the same. :cmad:

Stardust
I just love that movie! :woot:

Oh, that's what he looked like! I'd forgotten already. :lmao:

LMAO they even dyed his eyebrows blonde! :lmao:

Does anyone here remember one poster on the Hype who, back when when they were still casting Superman, matter-of-factly said in the casting threads that Cavill wouldn't get the part because he was gay?

That kind of came out of nowhere and I remember thinking that if it was true, it might actually have cost him the role - which would have upset me even at the time because the pictures and footage I'd seen of Henry showed just how much he looked like Superman. Hollywood might have a reputation as a liberal mecca, but it can be quite conservative in some ways.

I don't know if there were ever rumours going around about Cavill's sexuality, but it's quite ironic given that Henry has given us what I consider the manliest Superman yet (not saying gay men are effeminate, just that that's how your average homophobe might view it).

Edit: I know Henry was previously engaged and is now dating Gina Carano, just wanted to know if anybody else ever heard someone say this.

I've heard that rumor before.
I really could care less.
I also would like to think Matt Bomer didn't get the part not because he's gay but because Henry did a better job with his screen test.

So I was wondering..

Cavill has said in many interviews that he has lost nearly all the mass he put on for MoS and that he looks nothing like he did in the shirtless scene.

But I am just curious, why wouldn't he try to maintain it??? He achieved one of the best physiques on screen and likely reached the full potential of his anatomy, and he did it through extreme dedication and hard work, he earned it.

I know its quite unrealistic to maintain the shape he was in for the shirtless scene year round, but surely he could at least stay in the same ballpark? Twight has said he had 3-4% bodyfat for that scene, so couldn't he stay around 10% bodyfat and do some maintenance lifting to stay that way??

As they say, its easier to stay on the mountain than to climb it, and seeing as he's destined to play Superman for a very long time hopefully, it really bothers me that he lost it all :/

Here's hoping that Cavill finds the motivation to climb that mountain again :)
Its very very hard work. Why would he do that all year round day in day out? The only people who are obliged to stay in their peak shape are fitness models because they can get a call anytime for a shirtless photoshoot and if they aren't ready, they miss the opportunity.

Cavill is a film actor, he will never have less than 6 months warning for a shirtless shot.

And this is about finally distinguishing between the actor and the role. That physique was purely for the role of Superman, Cavill neither looked that way, nor would want to look that way in his spare time.

Even bodybuilders have their off season.

Most actors who bulk up for their first superhero film usually do not maintain that physique in a sequel.

Hugh Jackman is the only one who has so far. In fact, he tends to look even more impressive with each appearance as Wolverine.
Yeah that is sad fact

Chris Evans - guilty
Christian Bale - guilty
Tobey McGuire - guilty
Chris Hemsworth? I don't think he reached his max potential yet for Thor. He can really have a crazy sick jaw dropping physique. Maybe he will in Thor 2. He's in the same height range as Joe Mangeniell and should aspire to that.

Hugh Jackman actually get better every film. I hope Cavill atleast tries to match his physique in MOS in subsequent sequels, if not exceed it. And I hope Snyder gives him more scenes to show off his physique, 11 months training for 10 seconds of footage is brutal.
