The whole oil rig scene was awesome, but the gratuitous, lingering shots of shirtless Cavill were on a whole 'nother level of epicness.

I was just thinking.. there are kind of interesting parallels between Henry Cavill and Hayley Atwell:
Both are British actors
Their names are kind of similar: Henry/Hayley Cavill/Atwell
Both are perceived by many as sex symbols
Both were teased as children for their weight with similar nicknames: "Fat Cavill" "Hayley Fatwell"
Both are in superhero movies

It's funny, but by the time I saw Tristan and Isolde, even though he hadn't been cast as Supes yet, Cavill still took all of my attention away from Franco in that movie. Even with that awful hair. I loved Franco in 127 Hours, but I thought he was extremely miscast in T&I.Tristan and Isolde was such a boring nothing of a movie. I watched it years ago because I thought Franco was hot and of course I didn't even notice or care about Cavill at the time. I like Franco and I agree with him about TASM and it's cute he liked MOS but MOS isn't about him, he needs to tone down the ego a little. He is a great actor when he tries though.
He was probably my #2 choice behind Cavill, but now having seen the movie, it's clear he was 100% wrong for this version/script.I had a thought what if Joe had the role.![]()
Franco is mostly miscast period. But yes he was amazing in 127 Hours. I'm sure I noted Cavill attractiveness at the time but until Franco brought it up I didn't remember he and Cavill were co-stars. Cavill was not on my radar until someone started pimping him for Superman on these boards. It's funny, but by the time I saw Tristan and Isolde, even though he hadn't been cast as Supes yet, Cavill still took all of my attention away from Franco in that movie. I have nothing against Joe, maybe he would've been great for all I know but yeah Cavill deserved the role. Cavill brings a regality to Superman that I love.He was probably my #2 choice behind Cavill, but now having seen the movie, it's clear he was 100% wrong for this version/script.
joe lacked that gentle innocence needed for clark kent and superman
dude looks like a barbarian lol
Yeah, he can play nice but he's a little too beastly for my taste. I don't know about Supes having that much of an edge.
Probably very minimal wage jobs. It's one of my favourite Superman scenes. And he looks great unkempt & it's cool to see him doing all the Superman stuff while looking nothing like Superman. I liked that this guy is more worried about saving people than concealing his identity. His face is out there right from the start of the film. The whole oil rig scene was awesome, but the gratuitous, lingering shots of shirtless Cavill were on a whole 'nother level of epicness.![]()
Not being hot, for one?I wonder what the people who teased him are doing now.Probably very minimal wage jobs.

Haha, his school need to do a Before & After, Where are they now? documentary on Cavill & his bullies. HahahaNot being hot, for one?![]()
Word.Not being hot, for one?![]()
The casting directors had Superman in the room, Joe didn't stand a chance.Oh man, I dislike Joe so much. I almost cried when I heard he was one of the finalists for Superman.
That was like my worst nightmare, but then Henry was cast and it was a wonderful day!
