Henry Cavill IS Superman: - - - - - Part 14

Henry Cavill's performance is one of my favorite parts of the film. He just exudes a natural sense of goodness and confidence, which is much harder to do than it might appear. There were certain scenes, such as the interrogation room scene with him and Lois Lane, where he just was Superman to me. I feel like he wasn't given enough pieces in the script to showcase that, but in the inevitable sequel I hope there's more pure Superman stuff going on (and judging by the end of this movie that is the case).

I would like to see Henry Cavill pull off a long-haired Superman in future sequels.

His MoS look was just fine and I'd be all for it returning in the sequel.

He looked just fine in MOS and wouldn't mind him looking the same in MOS 2.

I really liked HC and how he wore the costume. He seemed like a kind of exiled king I thought, like sad royalty far from home. Made by the suit and the way he wore it.

Keep the hair (and the suit!) the same for the next one (and hope Henry's in as good shape as he was this time around).

If you have to change the hair, I'd like them to look at how he's been wearing it on the press tour/premieres (only black, obviously).

I love when people's
love one's response to a film always seem to mirror their own. That was by far the most inscure sounding post in the history of mankind. His wife can not be attracted to Cavill (I'm sure there are people who aren't) but I know without having any photos of him that Cavill looks 100 times more handsome than TruerToTheCore. I'm saying that his wife is trying to make him feel better or he is lying. Because the alternative is that he is a literal ****ing adonis.

I wasn't even going to fully respond to that ridiculous post outside of my updating my ignore list thing that I posted but you brought it up so...

1. My wife said it.
2. *I* do not think that he is ugly.
3. My wife loves me and that has a little bit more to do than with looks. ;)
4. Even if he looks 100 times more handsome than me I could still say he is ugly. I could also say that the meal you've cooked tastes like crap even though I couldn't make a better one.
5. Cavill's performance wasn't very good

Hype Children.

Lmao

He calls us hype children. This guy is clearly delusional and so biased and hasn't grown out of the "geeky, cheesy, comicbook film" era.
1) Put Henry Cavill in a room with your wife for 1 night and you'll see that she's probably lying to make you feel good.
2) Whether you like men or not you can keep that to yourself we don't want to know about it.
3) Lol yeah, ever heard of the phrase "love is blind" ?
4) Look at number 2
5) Now this one is just ridiculous. He was the perfect Superman. What? You think Brandon Routh's cheesy face expressions and stale acting is better than Henry's performance?

I have no idea why some people didn't like this movie.

Harry looks very much like a young Christopher Reeve

I seriously doubt that TurerToTheCore is a fan of Routh's preformance in Superman Returns.

What cheesiness ? Routh's performance as Superman was more stoic, aloof and subdued and his Clark Kent did not draw attention to himself, he remained (faded) in the background, he was not as bumbling as Reeve was.

Cavill was a great Superman, and he brought a lot of emotion to the role, like when he started beating up Zod for threatening Martha. I'm eager to see his Clark when the sequel comes out.

always funny when people say young chris reeve when describing henry when chris was 4 years younger than cavill in his first superman film

Lol. Because henry still has this boyish look in him especially clean shaved. It isn't a complaint.

Henry Cavill played the role with such modesty. He had confidence and carried himself but not to the point of arrogance. I really was a bit taken back how much I liked his performance. Maybe it's just me, but Henry really uses his eyes to express his emotions.

I agree, he definitely has this earnest quality to him and I think in real life he's like this too. I watched him in interviews and he's got this very righteous yet humble way about him. Funnily enough, many consider him to be boring and "vanilla" since he's reserved and generally with a serious demeanor, much like how the Superman character is viewed too.

I think he's the best person to play Superman for this version. A more manlier, edgier Superman. I'm not a comics person, I'm just a normal filmgoer but I have to say, I remember my uncle having all these Superman comics in the late '80s and '90s and when I saw Henry my mind just flashed back to those issues. I was very young then so I could barely make out the story but I distinctly recall the glorious jet black curls and overall brute hairiness that Clark/Supes sported. It's great that we get an actor like Henry that looks perfect for that version. And amidst all that ridiculously handsome and chiseled features is a guy who can actually act. I'm hoping for a better script and direction for the sequel so that this guy and the whole cast will get the awesome reviews that they deserve.

The Man Of Steel if a Greek God

EDIT: REMOVED THE PIC.

I didn't really have any issue with Cavill's performance but I wasn't wowed by it either.

To me, it was one of those where the biggest requirement was *looking* the part.

Whether that's his acting limitations or the material is a question I hope the sequel answers.

I must be the only one not seeing the the visual similarities to Chris Reeve.

Even the much talked about shot in the movie where people say its an uncanny resemblance. I saw that shot still framed and still didn't look like Reeve at all to me.

I think he has a similar "type" of look when he's all dressed up as Superman, but not like his twin or anything.

You're not. Reeve had some very unique features. It makes it hard for me to really see any uncanny resemblance. I think the closest looking actor to Cavill is probably Welling, but I think Cavill's features are just a bit more masculine.
