Henry Cavill IS Superman: - - - - - Part 14

Henry Cavill completely rose to the plate in my opinion. I think it would have been awesome if he go to play more Clark Kent at the planet. The whole movie was mostly Superman. But I think he communicated a modern Superman extremely well.

I have a feeling the sequel is what everyone wants. It will have Superman's alter ego, drama, love, saving regular people, actions, and a badass in lex luthor plus metallo.

Agreed on all counts, though I'm still not totally sold on Metallo as the "physical" villain supplementing Lex. That is slowly changing though. Initially I thought Brainiac was more than overdue on film, but the more I think about it, the more I feel that would both far overshadow Lex and all the other interesting plot elements kalhawj mentioned - as well as seeming too similar to the first movie's "alien invasion" theme.

I think everyone is really chomping at the bit to see Daily Planet Clark. In that regard, MOS pulled off the "origin story" reboot perfectly, where by the end all the elements are lined up for the traditional character we know and love (à la Batman Begins, Star Trek and, uh, Ridley Scott's Robin Hood).

It's funny, because that was my biggest question going into the movie: "How are they going to pull off Daily Planet Clark?" Despite what I'd heard, I was still worried they might do something a little too far from the traditional mythos for my liking. So when I saw everything line up at the end and Clark, wearing glasses, take his job at the Planet - and those perfect lines that end the movie - well, I was on cloud nine when I left the theatre after my first viewing.

At the same time, we only got a small hint of how Henry would play Metropolis Clark, and that was really at the heart of my question. I have a feeling when MOS 2 (knock on wood) comes out, we'll get something halfway between George Reeves and - ironically - Brandon Routh.

You're not alone. I could have sworn I heard someone laugh when Superman killed Zod the third time I watched it.

I laughed, don't really know why. Perhaps I just thought t was awesome, or maybe I was laughing at the "holy crap" reaction from the audience.

What was the suit even made of? Didn't look like material that would allow your skin to breath.

Exactly. I think it's like the diver suit. Very uncomfortable to wear.

Heck gives a good reason for bringing the tights back, the new suit will kill your actor. :D

Wow, Henry Cavill is amazing as Superman! My dream Superman. When I first saw him in Immortals, I didn’t really know who he was but I thought he was extremely handsome. Then there was a moment in the movie where I randomly thought to myself, this guy would make a really good Superman. Something in his eyes just said Superman. I looked him up later on the internet and was shocked to find out that he was cast to play the next Superman! So, it seems he was born to play this role. Or maybe he had just found out he had been cast and was practicing his Superman eyes during the Immortals movie lol! Can’t wait to see more of him as Superman!

:woot::up: And welcome to the forums!

I actually give a lot of credit for the work hemsworth put in for the fact he probably didn't have to get as big/cut as he did. He only has one quick shirtless scene in thor and the rest of the film he's either in regular clothes or thor's armor.

As opposed to cavill and superman's costume which was much more form fitting and thinner.
Actually, even Cavill too just had seconds of shirtless shots, what you see above is not at all his normal "suit shape" but his "shirtless shape" as Cavill calls it.

He obviously got super fit for the form-fitting suit but for the shirtless shots, he started a new six week leaning phase where his calorie intake was slashed and his training regimen was changed completely to bring his body fat percent way down and exaggerate the muscle definition.

Cavill put in all that much extra work for literally a few seconds of footage, his commitment is admirable.

It may have been only a few seconds of screen time but snyder/wb and co. certainly made sure those set photos of him filming those shirtless scenes got out there.

Plus the workout videos etc. Cavill's training was always going to be somewhat a marketing aspect it seems.

Cavill was amazing as Superman. He did a great job. I honestly didnt expect to like him this much but he really surprised me.

I wonder if all the complaints about him being too short have vanished? I haven't heard anyone complain since the movie came out. Then again I don't know where all the "He's British!" complaints have gone to either.

I think when they were able to believably make 5'10" tom hardy appear 6'4" as Bane. People stopped worrying if a 6'-6'1" henry cavill could look 6'3".

I'm pretty sure for that group shot of the soldiers escorting superman down the hallway, they had a casting notice for nobody above 6'.

I am sorry to say but in real life (IN REAL LIFE), Cavill and Adams seem to have no chemistry. They are so formal and there is so much awkwardness between them, its like they didn't become friends even after spending 6 months together.

She obviously praises him but in a superficial way. Cavill seems kinda like an aloof guy, even his Immortals co-stars said that he didn't mix much. And Snyder said that Cavill is as serious as a heart attack.

Who's whoa! Wait a minute, the actor playing Bane was 5'10? Good gracious he looked like a giant.

I actually think that Henry loosened up more with Amy around. He tends to be more serious all the time but with Amy and Russell Crowe around he joked more.

Okay.....

For months people here bemoaned how short hardy was and why was he cast as bane? Pretty much when they saw the film they really had nothing to say anymore.

Even i who had no problem at all with hardy's casting was blown away at how massive they made him look. Nolan's a master at shooting the right angles.

I didn't see them trying to make Henry look taller though, they filmed him as he is.

Maybe. They ain't couple in real life. U know.

Any filmmaker worth his salt should be able to do that.

RDJ is 5'7" and so is Tom Cruise. They never look like midgets in their respective movies. This is actually quite a feat with RDJ in The Avengers, where he has to go up against some big people. :funny:
