I would like a hair style similar to that for a possible sequel.

Indeed. Perhaps he's already gearing up for MOS 2. Hopefully Snyder and company will announce that at the Con - or sometime soon. :)
He has already said that he is shooting The Man From UNCLE next and he said he's not going to get his Superman physique for that.

He's generally in shape but he won't start getting shredded and insane big until after UNCLE, that is if he does MOS2 after UNCLE.

Great interview with the writer of the Superman art book. He talks about a lot of interesting things, specifically about how Snyder and Cavill brought one aspect of Superman that had never before been brought to the screen, namely the physical awe of the visual image of Superman and how powerful and god like he looks in comics.

Physically speaking, this Man of Steel looks nothing like any of the previous film incarnations. Henry Cavill got into incredible shape for the role of Superman, adding bulk and muscle, something that is really highlighted by the new suit. Do you think that this defining aspect of the character came from Henry or from Snyder or Nolan?
I think the physicality really comes from Zack Snyder. Going back to his film 300, you can see how the Spartan warriors are in such incredible physical shape, and how it really helps sell the visual experience of ancient, armed combat. Superman is similar. His powers come from his genetics, not his muscles, and neither Christopher Reeve nor Brandon Routh is hugely muscular. But Superman is powerful, and having an actor who just looks powerful is strong visual shorthand. Superman in the comics is a pretty bulked-up guy, and when you see Henry Cavill with his shirt off in that one scene where he climbs onto shore following the oil rig rescue, you really feel like "this guy is a straight-up superhero"!

I've said this before but ironically his hair looks much more "superman-ish" naturally than in the movie.

I have to believe they changed his hair up deliberately to distinguish this new superman more.

Cavill's even got a natural curl in that photo. Come on man. :funny:

He really got the right physical shape for it.

Funny thing is I remember them talking about Brandon Routh during SR and the director told him to reduce the heavy weights because he was looking too big in the suit (a.k.a. less like Reeves physique).
Glad Snyder said **** that, let's do this the way it should be.

Not in every computer.
In mine, he's the first when I tape "he" :hrt:

Also, on google, when you type Henry, you can now find some pics of Kaley too..
Unbelievable how this Kaley is famous while Gina was not so much photographed...
Some like it blond...

Kaley's on an immensely popular show; so she's much better known than Gina -- that's all. As far as looks go, just because some people prefer Kaley over Gina, that doesn't necessarily mean they favor one type over another. For instance, (brunette) Jaclyn Smith beats (blonde) Farrah Fawcett in my book any day of the week, but I also prefer (blonde) Cheryl Ladd over Kate Jackson (brunette). It all depends on the person -- from my perspective at least. =)

I highly doubt that is what it is for the most part. Of course, they modified the style a little bit and got rid of the curl, which is probably to distinguish the look a bit from past incarnations of Superman, but overall I think the cut is pretty typically Superman. It is slicked and side part with a bit of wavyness to the sides and pack perhaps to look more like the Byrne/Post-Crisis iteration of the character. More so, I think Cavill's hair looked different because because it needed to be longer for things like the oil rig scene where he is a scruffy drifter and because Cavill's hair is naturally curly so it doesn't gel and straighten the same way as guys like Reeve and Routh with their perfectly straight hair.

I would like a hair style similar to that for a possible sequel.

It looks great and Superman-ish but it really limits their styling options for distinguishing Superman and Daily Planet Clark. Longer hair gives them far more options. Look at how convincingly they were able to make Cavill look like a teenager by giving him big, shaggy hair for the tornado scene. The bigger hair made his facial features seem less mature and also made his head look larger in comparison to his body, which when combined with the baggier clothes, created the illusion of an overall gawkier, less mature and less muscular silhouette.

This is nothing new. Reeve's hair in Superman looked too "helmet-like" most of the time; Routh's hair is dark brown, but it was noticeably lighter in his portrayal of Superman; and the spit-curl looked ridiculous on him because his hair is naturally pin straight.

That's a really good point. Still, it's not like he has a buzz cut in that photo. I think they can still manage to create an effective disguise with his hair that length; and like we all agree, it looks much better for Superman.

Well maybe now he's created the alter ego he'll do something with his hair.

Neway
I never really noticed Chris wasn't huge as Superman, maybe because his prescence was so amazing, or perhaps because he never took his shirt off. He may not have been muscular but he definitely was big. Prior to Henry I think the most muscular Superman was Dean. I honestly have no idea what they were thinking about with Brandon; people sometimes point out that he had a swimmers body and that is why he looked so slim. But to be honest that suit didn't help him, it compacted him rather than clinging to him like Reeves and Cain's suit, or enhancing him like Henry's.

His performance was so amazing, that he makes sometimes people forget that he did not get the physique right. But it is indeed true. He was fit but nowhere near the Superman physique. Cavill is the only one who has gotten the physical appearance down perfectly. Routh was the worst offender. Honestly, I have bigger biceps than his in SR. That just ain't done. Superman should be this awe-inspiring being, not someone ordinary.

By Superman 3 Chris Reeve had gotten pretty big actually it was really the unflattering nature of the spandex costume that really affected how muscular he looked compared to how he was in reality.

Pure spandex really has the effect of taking away whatever definition you have and making you look sort of flat. It happened to Dean Cain to who wasn't a small guy in the physique department but didn't look super-impressive in the costume.

Even in the MoS suit if it didn't have those built-in moldings that allowed cavill's definition to show throw, he wouldn't look any where near as impressive in the suit.

This is pretty much as good as you can look in the material reeve had to wear.

True that. On screen, definition goes a long way to look bigger than you are.

SR even being a modern adaptation, didn't bother with a proper physical presentation.

Routh looks like he has no chest while Cavill looks barrel chested. Plus the MOS suit highlights the triceps, delts and biceps to create a very detailed and impressive visual. The MOS suit was truly genius.

Not only do you need to have big chest and arms but muscular legs as well, Brandon's legs are rather embarrassing.

Routh looks like he's doing the Wayne's World "Schwing!" in that picture.

Ok seriously why are his hips out so far!? It just looks weird!
Speaking of the chest hair, we all love it, but do you think it should have been shaved at the top so it wouldn't stick out the top of his suit? Just looking for opinions.
