kewl. Was a little hesitant initially that he might be too skinny for supes, but he looks fine.
oh and I wouldnt want to see the costume until maybe a month before the movie. remember how gl's costume was released too early and all the fans started *****ing and whining and eventually led to the firms downfall.

Feels like a good time to repost this:

wow... i think it's BIG enough.

. Indeed, Batman is generally considered to be the pinnacle of human perfection.

Re: The Dark Knight, I never really bought into the idea of Harvey Dent being a "white knight" simply because he was a hero with a face. Realistically, Dent had major issues from the start and anyone who watched the film could see that. That's why he was eventually corrupted by the Joker's influence, whereas Batman was not. That's another story entirely though.

Firstly, no I don't think Dent was what Wayne was hoping he would be. I was just saying Superman could have been what Bruce was talking about when he said they needed a hero with a face, white knight blah blah. Lol

And as I said. I can admire Batman, look up to him even. But I do not see him as a good role model. I do not want to live by his example. I do not think the world would be a better place if everyone where like Bruce Wayne in character

But I'm positive if everyone were more like Clark Kent it would be.

Green Lantern did badly because it was an awful movie. No fan of Green Lantern did not see that movie. Superman is already head and shoulders above Green Lantern. And we'll be getting the suit this year too.

It's up to you as a reader, I think, to determine that. In my opinion, though, it's definitely a factor. Much like a mother who loses that first child seeks to overly protect her other young, I can definitely see Superman wanting to protect our planet in a way he could not save his own. Again, I'm not saying it solely influences his decision, but I think it has something to do with it.

Meh, I can deal with people argueing that the loss of his home world had SOMETHING to do with it I guess. I don't know why your so determined to find a tragic reason somewhere in his past that you can say contributes... But like I said, everyone is going to have at least one bad thing have happened to them... So I really can't stop you thinking that...

Unless I suppose they do what they did with LnC and have him not even find out he's from Krypton until AFTER he becomes Superman... :p

But whatever, as long as tragedy is not THE reason, is not highlighted in red pen and shoved down our throats as absolutely the only reason he stepped up and became a hero, I can deal with people making their own allusions to how his past effected his decision.

If it is like Birthright, then he wouldn't know about Krypton until the end through Lex. But since it look's like Lex won't be in the movie, maybe Clark won't find out about his homeworld till the sequel?

Therefore, it won't have any impact on his decision to become Superman, since he wouldn't know about Kyrpton's destruction.

And Birthright sums it all up nicely on why he becomes Superman. See's the beauty in Africa when he flies over the plains, watching all the animals. He see's the poverty and suffering of people over there, and he see's the violence, injustice and corruption during the civil war. That's enough to make him dedicate himself to saving the world, not hiding away on the Kent farm anymore.

.

Ummmm.. Zod and Jor-el and Lara have been cast in this film...

I can't even imagine what their roles will be if Clark doesn't even know about Krypton until a sequel :(

I knew that :cwink:

I was thinking specifically on Birthright, so I forgot about those guys.

But they should come AFTER he becomes Superman, sort of like them taking Lex's place into revealing Krypton to him like in Birthright.

I completely agree. I don't want him becoming Superman to be because of Zod threatening the world.

I'd rather Zod come out of the wood work because of Superman revealing himself.

Q: This may be strange, but every time Warner Bros. talks about rebooting Superman, your name keeps coming up. Has there ever been anything to that?

Cavill:
Yes, there was. A while ago now. Must have been four or five years ago, maybe more. McG was working on a script with them, and - I don't know how close I came, I'm not going to repeat rumors and hearsay. I understand it was very, very close. And sadly the movie was cancelled because, I understand, McG didn't want to fly. He certainly had a big fear of flying at the time and I think he's since overcome it. But he wanted to shoot in New York, they wanted to shoot in Australia, for obvious reasons, and he said, "No, I can't do it." These things happen, it's Hollywood.

Clark's decision to become Superman should have nothing to do with the Kents, Krypton, Jor-El, Zod, personal tragedies or anything like that. His decision should be born out of his noble need to save the Earth after viewing closely the good and bad....like Birthright. Best origin approach IMO :)

You could argue that his friend's death in Birthright was part of his decision. But it's still not as 'selfish' as the death of a family member, love interest or mentor, considering the circumstances.

That too. It was a contributing factor to Clark's decision. His friend was a good guy who tried to help his people, then he got killed through the corrupt official.

I'd say the entire experience in Africa is what motivated Clark.

In a way yes, but in Birthright it's just sort of delt with differently.

It's not like Kobe's death made him feel guilty or responsible. It's not like he decided to become Superman because he wanted to avenge his death, or because he wanted to live up to the man Kobe wanted him to be.

It just made him realise how powerless he was to really be able to help if he couldn't show his face.

That's right.

Its just like little contributions to his journey of becoming Superman.

The movie should definitely elaborate on those things at the beginning.

There should be several contributing factors: The power made possible from the El's, the morals instilled by the Kent's and the experiences he himself sees around the world. But ultimately the decision should be Clark's. There were hundreds of ways he could have saved the world, or even just looked after his mother, as explored in Earth One, but he should become Superman because he wants to relieve people suffering and guide them to a better future, not force them into one.

The events in Africa were part of it, but lets not put too much weight on the 20 somethign years before. The reason he steps into the fight, the reason he's so affected by the death is because he was that person before. He was always a good, virtuous, heroic man. The scale he worked on was smaller in Smallville, not many tribal wars going on in Kansas.

TOLDJA stating what we already knew:

Warner Bros' lack of a movie panel may largely be due to the fact that the next Superman and Batman movies aren't ready to show much yet -- Man of Steel star Henry Cavill will be there, but on behalf of Relativity's Immortals (also Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz and Mickey Rourke; director Tarsem Singh is not currently expected).

I'm quite sure we'll get a massive panel event next summer for MOS.

I'm surprised there'll be nothing for the Avengers having said that.

Just a hunch/common sense, but we should be getting a glimpse of the suit within a couple of weeks. Snyder said himself he wanted to release a good pic of it before filming starts to prevent a bad pic from leaking out.

Yeah, could this be the month of Superman? It's gonna seem unreal when the first shot is actually out.

i expect the official suit pic 2 weeks before they will be filming outside.

My guess is it'll be like that first look of Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games and Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man where it's a promo shot and not specifically a scene from the movie in question.

EDIT: Yeah, what dark_b said.

what will be great is when the superman fanboys explode.after we get the suit. this will be a fun time.

i will be part of them. god help them if they used the fish symbol and hooker boots. hehe ;)

Is it too much to expect Lex next week and the reveal of the suit SDCC week?
