^he said at comic con he is 25 pounds heavier now than he was in immortals
There you have it then, I'd say for Superman he'll be between 200lbs - 215lbs. On a guy that is 6'1 that will be pretty much the sort of weight/size that an NFL player like Reggie Bush would be..
He's Superman, not Muscleman. He has super powers, he doesn't have to look like Triple H in my opinion.
I agree, I don't want him to be the same size as Triple H, Batista. John Cena etc. Those guys are essentially in body builder sort of size/shape.. which I feel is too big.
The sort of size Routh was in for Dylan Dog, Welling for Smallville post season 4 or Reeve Superman III would be as big as I'd ever want Cavill to get.
It just all depends how Cavill's body looks on screen & in the material of the suit, Dean Cain wouldn't have been as big as Reeve was in Superman: The Movie, however he was more ripped & his physique worked for him well.
Agreed. I know it doesn't always look like it but Reeve was actually quite large in Superman. Granted his weight fluctuated throughout the scenes but during the earthquake scenes he was at about 230 lbs. On a 6'4 frame thats pretty big unless you're a professional athlete. I don't think Cavill is that large but with the height difference I'd say it's similar. Considering what GYMJones does in terms of training, I'd say Cavill is going to be very solid and have not just a "movie" physique but practical muscle built too. It's not the typical do 4 sets of this or that workout routine. It was originally developed for building a well rounded body that you can actually use in an athletic lifestyle.
Reeve was actually still adding & developing his body throughout Superman: The Movie. After his first reveal to the world as Superman, there is a scene in the Fortress & it had to have been one of the first scenes shot because if I recall correctly he looks noticably smaller. I'm even quite certain that I've read or heard from somewhere that it was one of few scenes they had put something to pad out his neck at the cape tuck into the suit because he hadn't bulked up his neck enough. By the end of the movie though he still wasn't really, really massive. He was in a good solid shape though. His size took a massive leap between Superman II & III.. then back down slightly for IV.
I'm thinking Henry Cavill's physique will probably be the most similar/perhaps slightly more mass, to Dean Cain's or at most Reeve's
"end" physique in Superman: The Movie.
Just really depends how it looks/works on camera, I mean Dean Cain was fairly buff & ripped, however was
'probably' the smallest
(?) of all the most recent Supermen.. but his physique worked for him on screen. Routh was hardly small in Superman Returns but because of the suit, tight neckline & basically his height/size it didn't work.. with the amount of flack he has got you'd have thought he was a toothpick for the movie & in truth he was about the same weight Cavill will probably be, but Cavill is slightly shorter & will probably look more buff & compact than Routh did.
