He also found it impossible not to pose. He constantly had his arms folded, or fists at his waist - both in promo shots, and in the show. I mean, I know Superman has to look regal and heroic at times, but this was taking the p*** .......... he just never looked that comfortable in the suit IMO.

And yeah, he often had his arms cross or at his hips... That was part of his Superman's characterisation. It was intended to be a bit OTT. It was even commented on a few times in a comedic way.

I'd even say that first shot was a product of 'Hey Dean, do your Superman pose'.

I think the suit is decent, I even like the logo design (much better than Jim Lee's ). The main problems are the ugly belt buckle and the boots not having the M cut.

As bad as Cain was, I do have to admit, that suit is pathetic. It looks like a Halloween costume.

I remember the costume Cain wore in the pilot had a smaller 'S' shield, tiny shorts and lace up boots, and his hair was also longer. I wonder why they went from that look to the Halloween costume look...even though realistically, it looks like a costume Ma Kent would make.

Oh I know, but I still think they went totally over the top. It was nearly every scene where he wasn't actually walking, flying or punching somebody

It's funny, to this day I looked at Reeve/Routh/Reeves and even Welling without the costime, and I see Superman. Same goes for the spy shots we've seen of Cavill so far.

I look at Cain and I see ................ Dean Cain in a Superman outfit. Almost like a glorified Halloween-costumed-version of Superman. The effect is subtle but it's there, I just never 'got' the Superman vibe from him 100%.

I don't think he's a brilliant actor either, and the Superman Returns suit is hugely flawed, but I've never questioned the guy's look or sincerity, especially in the last 2 years or so. He really does have a great Superman look.

Maybe it was constantly cold on the set and he was self-conscious about nipping through that thin shirt.

But it's true that he doesn't look like Superman. That was always a turn off for me, and probably why I never really watched the show.

What I hated about the Cain version is they made reporter Clark into the real person.

Cain's portrayal shows why that would never work in live action.

He played reporter Clark and Superman as exactly the same.

But it's true that he doesn't look like Superman. That was always a turn off for me, and probably why I never really watched the show.

For the record, I love Lois and Clark, and Dean Cain is still my favourite Superman. It's the show that got me into Superman in the first place

But the vast majority seem to have the same complaints, and I get bored of questioning them, cause they're not going to change their minds.

Obviously i'm in the minority that don't see what everyone's talking about. I think his Superman was very different from his Clark. I don't think he played them the same at all. I don't think he was a bad Superman or that he looked uncomfortable in costume... it's just not something I ever noticed in the whole time I was a fan of the show.

It's only since talking about it on the internet that i've even found out that this is what people think.
