Zwick's films have white actors in foreign lands because it gives western audiences someone to relate to. He's just giving what the majority of the audience wants. Some of that may be forced by the studio, considering most of his films have big budgets.

I don't accept racism. But i don't Zwick's films are racist at all. Last Samurai wasn't negative about Japan, for example. It painted the Samurai and their code of honour in a very positive light, and the American's and Japanese Imperialists in a negative way. I thought it was a great film, and the story of Cruise's character was really well done.

Blood Diamond makes it clear that the West's demands for the blood diamonds are what causes the atrocities in Africa. Dicaprio's character is deeply flawed and only finds redemption towards the end. You could say the real hero was Hounsou's character.

If anything, most Hollywood movies have a very anti-white undercurrent, and heavy forbid one of them takes puts a white person where they historically were not.

Nobody takes major issue with it when a black guy is in ancient Europe, or even playing a Norse god, but you get these anti-white sentiments if one is somewhere they historically didn’t exist.

Now, just for the sake of fairness, did you complain when non-whites are cast in traditionally white roles? Did you complain that Heimdall was cast with black actor? Did you complain that Perry White is now Black? Did you care that Hollywood recast the entire movie Death at a Funeral with black actors? I could go on but you get the point.

Some people have gotten so anti-racist that to them its religion, an ideology that leads them to try to find it everywhere they possibly can. Typically these people themselves ARE white. The thing is, in some weird self righteous way they feel they need to be the anti-racist white knight crusader at every turn. They manifest their attempts at anti-racism simply by having an anti-white bias.

You can tell how silly it is, and the underlying anti-white current, when you got the same people who say race is a social construct and does not exist, ALSO complaining about a white person, merely based on the fact that the person is say in film where white people historically didn’t exist, or in a country that is homogenous and non-white.

If they were so anti-racist how come they notice race so much? How come if we are all the same race they like to single out whitey as the villain so much?

Where do we draw the line?

We should Define Racism before we go on a witch hunt.

Its when one person or a group, does something to control, dominate, or genocide another group. Also it can involve smaller scale actions like denying a person employment or educational opportunity or refusal to lend or any such denial of advancement simply on the basis of a persons race.

So what is the problem of calling "racism" where it should not be called? Or in just applying it to ANYTHING we don’t like on the basis of race? The issue is it is "crying wolf". If you "cry wolf" too much, then people stop caring when you cry it, and if you start calling racism where the charge does not belong, it starts to take on the same use as charging HERESY used to.

If you want to take up the sword and fight racism you should research the connection to race and the ongoing failure that is the War on Drugs and how it relates to the Prison Industrial Complex. Now if you want to fight racism, that is where to start at this point in history.

Not complaining how Hollywood is a bunch of evilracistnaziswhowanttokillsixmillionjews, because they have a white guy in a non-white role.

I don't complain about those actors being cast in those bit roles because that is not the same thing as Hollywood white washing my history or any other minority's history every time they get the chance. Your argument is faulty because Minority actors are not on the same playing field.

I feel that this thread is not really the right place to discuss this topic, but I will say my two cents -

I prefer that Hollywood should cast actor that is suited to the character's race, for example -

If they ever make a Jungle Book movie, I feel that casting a white person as Mogli would be ridiculous similarly, If they cast a black actor for the role of Zorro would be ridiculous.

But, sometime they do and that is miscasting in the name of artistic licence.

For the record I do not support any kind of racism.

But it was within a year of its release, yes? For a teaser (as opposed to a full trailer) that seems about right. The marketing campaign peaking too early is a danger.

Did the June rumor get debunked? I thought that was from a usually legit source. I just can't imagine what in June it would be attached to. Rock of Ages would be the completely wrong demo. If it doesn't necessarily have to be a WB movie, maybe Prometheus?

Though I'm sure even if it's originally released in June that it will still be attached to TDKR as well, because well, it would be simply idiotic not to.

You forget, we're dealing with WB. Trailer in theaters on Friday, online on Monday.

Or Sunday night, in the case for TDK's second theatrical trailer.
