Yeah I'm really glad it's performing well. I really enjoyed Cavills performance in that movie and the movie itself was a lot better than I was expecting story wise.

Definitely a good watch and brownie points for Cavill with the masses that's for sure.

I knew Cavill was good from the Tudors but I wanted to see if he could lead a film and he did it very very well.

Ever since the first official pic below was released, while the suit looking cool, I couldn't ****ing recognize the man in it as Henry Cavill! I STILL can't. It doesn't look_like_him!? He looks like an older Daniel Craig James Bond something something. It's like it's a completely different actor inside the suit in that first pic...

Now look at the man in the pic below! THIS is Superman... I think he looks like two different human beings in these pics... it bugs me like hell!... Forgive me.

Routh lacked the wide face and strong jawline of Reeve, Reeves, Cavill, and even Welling.

Routh was just younger and leaner back then. He definitely has the features now, probably the best Superman look.

Welling had leaner facial features during his younger days too.

Why should it bug you? It's a cornerstone of the Superman mythology that he looks like two different people in and out of costume.

^ Looking at the pictures above, I AM getting a bit weeby-eyed that Routh was just cast aside ... Seriously, he was definitely good in the part! He had the look DOWN, and his acting was anything BUT poor... A bit "wooden" maybe. But that all came down to the way he was directed!

I'm fairly certain that Cavill will kick major ass as our newest CK/Superman... And I can understand the reason for them going completely NEW cast with the NEW first-ever-reboot of this franchise. That's the only reason why I'm ok with it. Cause otherwice WB and Snyder just wasted major time looking the world for a new superman, when Routh could easily have brought it! I feel bad for the dude, that he didn't get another chance to don the cape...

I've always been very fond of Tom Welling as young Clark Kent in SmallVille! I think he's great. BUT, he should stay within the SmallVille Universe. I always (funny enough) saw him representing CK at a certain stage of his life, which was the years before he was superman... When it all comes down to it, I honestly don't think Welling could pull of Superman in a HUGE big-screen adaption of the superman character. No, he shines within SmallVille - and that's good enough.

Never the less, Henry Cavill will most likely give superman a complete and badass make-over. So here's to hope! Snyder's Man of Steel can't afford to be a dud!!

No no, I think you're misreading me dude... I seriously mean that it doesn't even look like Cavill in that first pic... All other pics of him as Supes I can easily recognize him.. just not in that first one. it's so weird.

The first image was a mock up promo piece, hardly a still. I'd go so far as to say not even the final suit for shooting. He looks different cause his hair is slicked back and the source lighting from stage left is so strong it's making his eye brow fade to dragon tattoo levels.

Perhaps.. Whatever makes him look that way, it's subtle, yet present.

Agreed. Those colors actually look quite similar to the ones used for the new DCnU costume. That's no coincidence.

I know what you mean. When I see Cavill, I think, "Unnnh. Break me off a piece of THAT."

Though, to be fair, Tom Welling could be distracting with his statuesque beauty. Those immaculate cheekbones and lush, pouty lips. At least I can't lust over him too much when I'm resenting him for being prettier than me.

Routh noble? I really didn't get that with his 6 or so lines to be honest. Reeve was a lot more noble. More over the context of Routh's story would argue differently. Leaving the planet, his bastard child, freeing lex, killing goons by accident...etc.

Cavill's work in Tudors(sex aside) lends itself to the portrayal of a man of noble birth, with good posture and a firm voice.

I'll give Welling this, he had a lot of time to develop his character.
