In Brightest day.. The Official Hal Jordan Thread

Yeah? Could be the "JL: Animated Series" in my mind then, since Stewart seemed like he was at least in his mid-thirties to me there or it's the fact that his more stoic and serious character made that impression on me.

Yeah, on the cartoon they said John came back to Earth after being in space for 15 years, he was probably even around 40 there. He certainly wasn't a spring chicken, but since then in terms of personality that's how the JS character has pretty much been like. While since Geoff Johns brought Hal back, he has been the young brash loose cannon version that we see all the time today.

I see... thanks for the info.

I must say, it would take me some time to get used to younger John Stewart. I guess it all depends on how you've become familiar with the character in the first place. To me it was "JL: Animated".

Well as mentioned above, maybe he wouldn't be that young. I don't really expect a 20 something John Stewart. Both characters can be in their mid 30s with the only difference that Hal got his ring a little earlier than John.

Same. I don't think there should be a significant age gap. They should be contemporaries with personality differences

I don't mind if one of them is older and the other is younger, but they've typically been portrayed as pretty close in age.

James Marsden as Hal Jordan by BossLogic Inc:

I like this. James Marsden can pull it off.

Man, now I hope he does get the part. It will help make up for how much he got screwed over as Cyclops

Agreed! I also don't want them to make Hal into another middle-aged character. He should at least be in his thirties.

"Kal looking for Hal"

Cavill is the troll of the decade. :woot:

His star is on the rise and it's highly unlikely he reprises his recent CBM role, what about Boyd Holbrook?

Yeah, I mentioned him too a little while back. I think he'd be great. He can play a cocky smartass and he looks a lot like Dan Stevens (they even played brothers in a movie once), who was another name that's gotten brought up a lot for Hal. Funny that they both ended up as part of the X-Men franchise.

Maybe green lantern brings superman back somehow? He seems to be hinting a lot that he and Hal are linked. Maybe Hal brings with him a solar heater or something?

Armie Hammer should play Hal. He and Henry Cavill need to teamup in JL.

Speaking of Hammer and Cavill, I read a weird interview with him where he said he talked to the writer of Man from UNCLE and he convinced the guy to write a sequel. His thought process was, if the guy writes it, somehow the movie will be made even though the first one wasn't a hit. Sounds ludicrous, but hey, stranger things have happened.

I see Armie as a better choice for Shazam than Hal. And that's really only if Channing Tatum is still insisting on playing Gambit, because he'd be great for Shazam.

Yeah, I feel like there are a lot of other superhero characters that Tatum is a better fit for than Gambit.

Ditto. He's due and would be a great Hal.

I would be in favor of that. We know Supes is coming back, at least make it interesting.

Whoever suggested Boyd Holbrook as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern I definitely agree with this pick he would be awesome in the role especially given his performance in Logan as Donald Pierce...he gets my vote as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern

Seeing the shortlist of the actors in contention for the role of Hal well looking at the shortlist I see names such as:

Tom Cruise
Matt Damon
Joel McHale
Bradley Cooper
Armie Hammer
Jake Gyllenhaal
Nathan Fillion

I would go with either Hammer, Gyllenhaal or McHale

Having Hal bring superman back would be cool. Correct me here if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a story several years ago that told of the ring first picking Clark Kent to be the new lantern?

I don't know if that happened in the mainstream comics but in Smallville season 11, Clark did become a Green Lantern.

In the Silver Age it was established that Tomar-Re who was the GL of Sector 2815, the sector that had Krypton in it, and the Guardians tried to save Krypton from exploding but unfortunately Tomar failed. We learned that the Guardians had already, from birth, decided to induct Kal-El of Krypton to be a GL and wanted to desperately save his life.

I'd prefer Armie for Shazam unless they get Tatum for Shazam.

Joel McHale, Boyd Holbrook or Glenn Howerton would all be good for me.
