In Brightest day.. The Official Hal Jordan Thread

If Nathan Fillion can get in superhero shape and find time in his schedule to play Green Lantern then I would be more that happy to see him cast but I really doubt he will play Hal in a live action movie.

People need to let their Fillion for Hal craze die already. I love him but *shakes head*

Fillion said he doesn't have much time to film lead roles in movies these days given he is the lead in Castle and his family commitments.

An older Hal Jordon who is still kind of cocky and brash (but experienced) teaming up with a John Stewart who is young and experienced but very serious minded and no nonsense (as he always seemed to be in the JL cartoon) would be a very interesting team up for a GL Corps movie.

Just curious... how about Leo as Hal Jordan? I know, it will probably never happen, but I think if he finally gets his Oscar, he'd be open to taking on a franchise. And people have asked him about possibly taking on a superhero role at some point and he didn't just dismiss it. AND he has played an aviator before.

I don't know. Just an idea. If it happened, it would be a huge win for DC and would instantly add credibility to the GL name.

I've got no real desire to see Leo as a superhero. I think he may make a good villain in a superhero film depending on the role.

For veteran Hal, as amazing as Cranston would be, he probably is older than they'd want, even for an older interpretation. Another, younger option would be Jim Cavaziel. With Person of Interest coming to an end after this season, he'll have time.

Jim Cavaziel as Hal would reunite him with his The Count of Monte Cristo co-star Henry Cavill.

I don't see Cavaziel getting the role though. Cavaziel probably missed his chance to play a superhero when he had to drop out of the Cyclops role for X-Men all those years ago. Cavaziel is also deeply religious and may find something that might conflict with his views in the movies as has happened in the past.

Cranston as Sinestro maybe. Hard to imagine them going that much older for Hal. I'm thinking it'll be someone around Affleck's age. He'll be equally as wise and experienced, but not as crippled by life as Bruce. I'm thinking he'll be an A-lister to lend added credibility to GLC. Wouldn't be surpised if we got Leo or Matthew McC as Hal.

He's also apparently been blacklisted after PASSION.

By an older Hal I don't mean a Bryan Cranston type. A Nathan Fillion type or Aron Eckhart type is what I am thinking of, an older but not necessarily too wiser and still handsome, good looking guy. I am thinking late forties and early fifties here.

He was in that movie with Stallone and Arnie. Forget what it was called.

Either way, though, I'd rather him be Deathstroke, if he's going to be in the DCEU.

The Tomb/ Escape Plan.

I do like the idea of him being Deathstroke though.

I don't think he is blacklisted because he has been in other movies since Passion of the Christ. People are probably reluctant to hire him because of his strict (by Hollywood standards) religious views. He threatened to walked off the set of the movie High crimes if he and his co-star could not do their sex scene fully clothed.

Everybody seems to think that Dan Amboyer doesn't stand a chance because he isn't a name actor but neither is Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, or really Ezra Miller. From some of the spoilers I read it claims that the JL shows up towards the end of the 3rd act. Also that Dan is Hal Jordan. From what I seen of the concept art , The Trailers, and all its looking to match up with the spoilers really well. I may be wrong , or very very wrong but I'm thinking Dan is gonna be our Hal Jordan, which is just fine by me . He is an actor with a theater background , young enough to carry a franchise , and looks like Hal. If I'm wrong oh well but I like the idea

It's not that he doesn't stand a chance, it's that the speculations about him seem way too ridiculous. And the "spoilers" you talk about are complete bogus.

I've heard they were and that they weren't . Either way is cool, just the idea of seeing some of the greatest superheroes finally on the big screen and on screen together is awesome . So I'm game either way

Still think Damon or Gyllenhall would be good to play Hal.

Too bad there's little chance of getting Mark Strong back for Sinestro I thought he was pretty good. Oscar Isaac would be good too but he probably wouldn't want to play another villain.

I posted this earlier but it doesn't seem to have showed up. Anyways I've heard John Krasinski mentioned and after watching 13 hours I'm fully on board with that . I'm really hoping that movie does for him what Zero Dark Thirty did for Pratt, open more doors for him. I've always been a big fan of his . Also another TV actor who has a certain charm and could easily pull off Jordan and that's Zachary Levi . I may be the only one in that boat but I'm fully convinced they both could do a fantastic job as Hal Jordan . The charming , confident, quick witted test pilot / cosmic cop

Gadot appeared in one of the biggest selling franchises in Hollywood right now and did so over multiple films and has had work in multiple commercial and ad campaigns as well as being the model for various lines of clothing's advertisement along with Hebrew language roles in Israeli television. Ray Fischer has gotten noticed for his stage work which included his time playing Muhammad Ali. Ezra Miller has been given plaudits as a highly talented up and coming actor in PERKS OF A WALLFLOWER and WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN. Seriously, there's a big difference between the dude whose biggest role was playing Prince William in a Hallmark Channel made for TV movie and someone from the world of Broadway. Let's look at how the DCEU has been cast so far as well... Does Dan really seem like he fits that pattern at all? I say he doesn't. He's not getting cast so my suggestion is to let it go folks. GL is coming but it is not gonna be this guy.

The more I think about it, I have no preference for who plays Hal but I REALLY don't want anyone young. They want to use all 4 main human lanterns in this film, someone HAS to be an older veteran, and Hal is the one best fit for that spot. I'm going to be pretty disappointed if those rumors don't pan out.

All 4? I thought it was going to be only Hal and Stewart. Haven't heard anything about Gardner or Rayner. And I disagree, Hal doesn't have to be older. Who knows how the GL origin went about in this version, for all we know both might have gotten their rings at roughly the same time. Both can be in their early to mid 30s, I don't understand why Hal Jordan needs to be a grizzled veteran here. To me the GL animated series is a good example of Hal who clearly wasn't a rookie and had the ring for awhile, but was still a young guy in his prime. Worked out well. no need to make him older just because there's going to be other GLs in the movie. I've seen my share of gray haired Hal, leave that in the past.
