In Brightest day.. The Official Hal Jordan Thread

The way I see it Dan is just having fun with this situation. He knows fans are talking about it and keeps playing coy to hold their attention until the movie is out. I don't blame him, I would've probably done the same thing. Otherwise there has literally been nothing that gave any actual merit to these rumors.

For argument's sake let's assume he might indeed be tied to this role. Given how WB seemingly likes to swear everyone to secrecy, why would they allow him to post that picture he took on set while wearing the pilot jacket and why would they even release information that he is playing a pilot in the movie to begin with? They tried really hard to keep the other castings a secret, so why would they allow hints like that to be public knowledge if they truly wanted to keep Hal Jordan as a surprise? Furthermore, what purpose would there be in keeping Green Lantern as a secret character to begin with? Why would they purposely exclude him from promotional materials like the Dawn of Justice League TV special, just to wait until BvS is out, considering everyone else has been announced? WB must be aware that GL would benefit from the public knowledge of being featured in JL more than any of the other members, so to go to these lengths to keep him a secret sounds counterproductive to me.

So while Dan might be a potentially decent choice for this role, and while I find what he is doing in these interviews to be really funny, and I do wish him well in his career, I think this speculation couldn't be anymore ridiculous.

The depression really sets in when you see that Dan Stevens signed onto some crappy X-Men spinoff that will probably be canceled in six months and meanwhile Dan (have to go look up his name again because you already forgot) Amboyer is the only guy rumored to be playing Hal Jordan.

Did you guys know that John Stewart was cast in GL 2011? They even shot a small cameo, but it was cut

Nick Jones was the actor who was going to play John. He's a complete unknown so I doubt he would've been used in the sequel, but this could be another example of that

Amboyer could appear as Hal in a very small cameo where they conceal his face, so a more well known actor could play Hal in JL

Was Jones that guy Hal gets into a bar fight with that everyone thought was John? As I understood it, he wasn't supposed to be John... everyone just thought he was.

Well I think no GL in BVS, JL 1, or possibly even JL2 means that Amboyer isn't Hal

What is he doing? :D :D

You gotta give him credit, the guy is definitely making the best out of these mindless speculations. Why not, it's free publicity.

Anyone suggested Joel Edgerton? He just popped into my head a few days ago. He has the right look, he's a very different type than Reynolds, and I think his status as a Hollywood actor (well known, but not quite A-list) might make him a pretty decent choice for Warner Bros.

That's a good suggestion. I also think he'd make a killer Deathstroke (no pun intended).

I feel like if Amboyer is Hal, it'll be in such a minor cameo that they can easily recast later without retconning.. It'll be like Hank McCoy in X2 I think

I just feel like it's hard to believe they'd go with an unknown for Hal, it's a good opportunity to bring some star power, and I personally feel like the character would benefit from a more known actor

But if Amboyer is perfect for the role, so be it

Well, Hal isn't in the movie anyway. They would not go through all the trouble of keeping a role like this a secret. Why would they deliberately lie in official statements like the EW article that Green Lantern probably won't show up until Justice League Part 2 or after, and exclude him from any promotional materials, just to try to "surprise" people that he is actually there. Besides if they want the Green Lantern fans to watch these movies, it doesn't make much sense to say "No, he is not there".

Armie Hammer how about him or how about Aaron Paul as Hal Jordan or Garrett Hedlund

Hedlund would do well.

Yes he would do as Hal Jordan and if anything if he doesn't show up in Justice League he would probably show up in the sequel most likely before having him in his own solo film

Dan Amboyer would be my pick to play Hal Jordan especially because I want to see a lesser-known actor play Hal because if you take the Marvel approach and cast a lesser known actor in a big role such as this one it could be their breakout role which is why I went with Dan

Okay, question for all of you guys mentioning Dan Amboyer. Have you actually SEEN this guy act in anything? Yeah, I get it, everyone wants an unknown. The problem with that is, you then have no idea if said unknown actor can, ya know, actually ACT. I get that casting a big name can come with baggage and people might not be able to see that actor as the character because they're used to him playing some other character. But I don't understand championing some guy who you've never heard utter a single line just because he kinda looks the part and wears a brown leather jacket sometimes.

Theo James is my second choice for Hal Jordan

Reynolds isn't coming back unless he loves the script and director attached. And even if everything lined up, I don't think he wants to tempt fate again. He'll stick with Deadpool, that's something he's passionate about and is doing great for him.

Outside of him, the lineup is pretty solid if it's true. Joel McHale is a surprise choice, but I think he could do it. Same for Cooper, Hammer, and Cruise (Cruise signing on would actually fast-track the production). Gyllenhaal has been flaky about superhero roles and I can't blame him after Prince of Persia.

I like the idea of Cruise getting it simply because then we would actually get a franchise.

I would be very intrigued with Cruise as Hal. Jake Gyllenhaal would just be too good to be true. Cooper why not. Hammer ditto. But, if no Cruise or Gyllenhaal, my favorite is James Mardsen. The guy could do Hal in his sleep.

Seeing the age range, Hal would be a vet methinks...Good idea
