Yes it is.

Here's an interesting articles on the Walther's:-

For the record, I'm in the camp that feels that although use of the P99 would be more realistic choice over the PPK, it's a bit too big to be effectively viable as a concealed weapon, whereas while the PPK falls way short of effectiveness, it's more easily concealed and it's iconic status is legendary.

I guess it's a trade off and personal choice may basically boil down to reality or iconography?

Iconography please. And anyway, i'm sure Bond will get his hands on some other weapons during the film.

Yup.

Plus, it's not like a bullet from the PPK would be ineffective either; take one to the stomach and see how it doesnt work. :D

yeah or in the face...

also i think 2 shots will almost always knock you out at least.. fatal or not, you will go down for some time..

Wow. Haven't seen the set these pics came from. I'm so happy Skyfall got made and is coming out soon. Obviously we were going to get a third Craig film but the longer the wait meant the fewer films we might get in the future.

I was watching The Living Daylights the other day and it STILL bugs me that we only got to see Dalton in 2 films. He easily had one more in him. Dalton had a great debut with a more polarizing follow up (much like Craig). But personally I liked LTK. Craig should certainly be able to pull off one or two more films after this one before his age starts to show too badly. Or they could work that in depending on what they do.

And you know, wait until we see the context and why he's carrying it. Perhaps it's a surprising assult on London and Bond only carries a smaller weapon like this casually and didn't expect **** to go down when this scene takes place.

He carries it as a concealed weapon in Casino Royale.

Iconography is one thing. I would understand it as Bond's personal weapon. Granted it would be a stupid personal weapon, I get it. But the shallow clip and rounds just don't make it an effective combat weapon.

It reminds me of the first episode of Justified. They were going to go with the iconic look of a newer model 1911, but scraped it because it made no sense for someone who was going to go around getting in shootouts a gun with such a shallow clip. So they gave Raylan a glock.

Then why does she have one?

Maybe he's just using it in London and he has to conceal it because he's in a city with strict gun laws..

I am pretty sure gun laws do not apply to British Secret Service. At least that is what Tom Quinn of Spooks taught me. Show wasn't the same after he and Keeley left. :csad:

In real life MI-5 agents ain't suppose to carry guns and MI-6 agents ain't suppose to have a License to Kill....but they probably do..

Gun laws are always bent in entertainment. Watson has a gun on Sherlock.

City of London police and CO19 for the London Met Police both carry firearms.

They use Glock 17 pistols, Heckler & Koch Semi-automatics and Heckler & Koch Semi-automatic assualt rifles.

But they're not concealed though, are they? I would have thought that a key part of being in the British Secret Service would be the 'secret' part.
