Joker himself stated that Gotham now needs "better class of criminals", why would Nolan step back instead of moving forward? And Two Face did become a ''freak'' at the end. "Brought him down to our level", as the Joker so adequately put it.
which is why i would rather Black mask in this movie then to simply go back and re-visit a falcone family member again, hard to believe after what just happened to both falcone and maroni that people are gonna fear another mob boss with the name falcone over it after his father was just nothing but a mere pawn for The LOS and even Scarecrow had his way with the Falcone mob boss...the mob needs something different after what the joker and two face did to them in TDK...bring in Roman Sionis whos a billionaire playboy himself and has a deep history with bruce wayne and has a really bad history with selina kyle...Roman is a nutcase...the guy burned his parents alive and has lived off there wealth..not to mention his obsession with masks can be a quite disturbing thing if it is brought to life on film...imo having roman(Black mask) in this film would make the story alot more personal because of the history he shares both with bruce and selina.

2bh i reckon Levitt is going to play a public official rather than a main villain otherwise Nolan would say. It would fit ewith the whole Batman on the run thing to have someone other than a somewhat hesitant mayor go after Batman.

two-face wasnt a freak,he wasnt dressing up in a costume or attempting elaborate schemes or anything.in what way do you believe is he a freak? because he tries to kill gordon and his family? that just makes him a nutcase like ra's. if its just because of the burns, thats a pretty weak argument.

and just because the joker said something doesnt mean it becomes the ethos of the series.he also said why so serious, does that mean the next films going to be a comedy?

its arguable whether having a freak in a costume is moving forward rather than having a freak in a suit,or simply an unbelievably vile normal person in a suit.

two-face wasnt a freak
Really? I mean, really?

I can't fathom how you came to this conclusion.

Personally, Batman's more freak like villians are the ones with major mental problems, which includes Two-Face. You don't need to dress up in a costume to be considered a freak. By that logic, I guess Batman is a freak too. Which I don't agree with, regardless what Joker said in TDK.

If Batman isn't a freak, he is at least the chief inspiration for them.

I agree that a lot of the villains showed up and started causing problems due to Batman's presence, but I don't think Bruce is deranged. He's just really obsessed with his goal/mission.

And what is excessive obsession? It can be argued Bruce needs Batman to be sane.

I think what the Joker meant, is to the people of Gotham, they both are freaks. He even says "To them you're just a freak."

I'd be all for that. Would Levitt make a good Black Mask I wonder. Well he did end up playing Cobra Commander so why the heck not? :)

Agreed.

Let me ask you guys this: If you turned on your local news and saw that some guy was running around the city dressed as a Bat, fighting crime, wouldn't you think he was a freak? I sure would. He's at best "not-normal". :yay:

all that matters is that hes normal to all of us here on the hype:awesome:

Man... I wish WB would hurry up with that Press Release. I want to know the plot, and who JGL and MC are playing sometime soon or I'm gonna go crazy :csad:

The guy could have hade his skin healed by doctors but choose to keep half his face burned off, he was going around flipping a coin deciding who he should kill, not to mention he was pointing a gun at a 10 year old ready to shoot the kid,'

If that doesn't qualify someone as a freak, than i dont know what does.

I would say Batman is a freak in a way
Even Bruce says it himself when asked what he thinks about the Batman in BB 'Well guy who dresses up like a bat clearly has problems'

though it was a little remark to amuse his guests he's right.... he does have problems

No, he's going to be the Penny Plunderer, a source from the production told me. Nolan wants to revamp TDK's bank robbery prologue on an epic scale, by having JGL steal all of the pennies from Gotham National, with Bane as his preverbal hired muscle. Plus, if this sounds incredulous to you, I assure you, it's not: Jett has known for the past week, but had to sign a nondisclosure agreeement when said source told us of the greatness that awaits us..

I disagree.

They're just repeating the Variety report--they don't even update with Temple's confirmation.

He actually says 'issues'....I would actually say that would be more fitting

I would definitely say Wayne does have issues. or do you disagree? Maybe I'm wrong...what're your views on it?

I think his only real issue is his parent's death, but that's an issue a lot of people face daily. The rest of Batman is a man dedicated to a noble cause using unusual means. I don't think Batman is a mental case at all; I think he's incredibly sane and driven and devoted by what he feels is right.

Batman gradually but surely moves further away from "sane" as he builds his career. I can easily see Bale's Batman becoming like Keaton's after a decade of doing this.

But you're not seeing the goldmine of dramatic potential before our eyes.

You've adressed it yourself, "who will fear the Falcone name now?" Thats ripe for exploration. Imagine Alberto Falcone, depicted as he is in the comics. Weak, indecisive, but loyal to the family. Now imagine him trying to pick up the pieces of his family's legacy - Desperately trying to keep the Falcone family from becoming irrelevant, even though the world of crime is a world he was never really built for.

If you thought the mob was desperate in TDK, it will be interesting to see what they are capable (or incapable) of with a misguided and extremely challeneged Alberto behind the reins.

To me, finishing the story with the Falcone empire in ruins is far more interesting and relevant to Nolan's overarching storyline than simply introducing a brand new mob boss, when the movie is already packed with enough "freaks" as it is.

One of my favorite scenes from Batman 89 was wehn Vicky Vale and Batman are in the batcave and she says something about people think hes just as crazy as the Joker and than he gets very defensive and it makes for a very dark scene, were the so called hero suddendly makes the damsel in distress scared.
