The Dark Knight Rises Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake

I definitely agree with the theme of "lost fathers".

Batman / Thomas Wayne
Alberto / Carmine Falcone
Talia / Ra's Al Ghul

All three are people trying to live up to what their fathers did.

This is almost 100% guaranteed, in my opinion.

Don't forget the obvious parallel to Inception with Robert Fischer and his father, and the fact that Inception was "Nolan's most personal film", seeing as his father died in real life. A theme of trying to live up to your father definitely oozes Nolan.

This is an awesome way for it to go and probably the reason why Nolan chose Falcone over Sinois: Falcone has a real strong reason to hate the freaks and batman as they took away his father and his empire away from him. It could make for an interesting character trying (and failing) to live up to his fathers legacy (which if Talia is in the film will definitely be a main theme).

Exactly, not to mention Bruce's own doubts about legacies, especially the philanthropic sort that Thomas Wayne began.

Did his father die recently? I thought it was John Nolan - the guy from Following and that Wayne Enterprises exec who went "the apple did fall far from the tree" ? I remember seeing him in the virals.

Sweet Jesus. From now on, if it isn't reported by Deadline I refuse to believe it.

Yea, his father died.

Joseph Gordon Levitt in TDKR but not as Alberto Falcone!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, long-rumored to be joining his Inception brethren in The Dark Knight Rises, will appear in director Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film. But a source close to the situation says that recent reports that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone (a.k.a. the Holiday Killer) — the son of former mob kingpin, Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson) — are incorrect. So, Batman fans: Begin the re-speculation now!

Speculation, again?! :cmad:

Incredibly appropriate for the circumstances I'd say.

"Give him the kick!"

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh, man, this makes so many people look so stupid! I love it!

Variety is great, but always wait for official confirmation.

I, for one, am happy it's not Falcone. Just hoping it's something more interesting than mob kinda thing.

Still hopeful for a plot with a good deal of Arkham.

I totally believe he's going to be Alberto, it just fits, it also makes sense to Nolan's story. I'd love for him to be Black Mask or Deadshot, but really doubt he is.

Would it be too much to hope for Mario Falcone now? I'm not going to lie, no matter who he's playing I'm going to be disappointed now. I was so excited for Alberto being in this.

Considering EW is kinda out on a limb on this one , I guess we'll have to wait or conformation. I wouldn't be surprsied if they said he was playing The Holiday Killer not this Falcone guy.

EW is a WB publication, they have no reason to lie...
