I knew the mob would show up. When I heard the Deadshot rumor, I thought that would be overkill in the proper villain arena.

He'll be part of the plot, but not much screen time. . . I betting.

However, good choice of actor and character to add.

JGL playing Alberto has been debunked today.

"These cops and lawyers wouldn't dare cross any of you. I mean, what happened? Did, did your balls drop off?"

I'm sticking to my guns. The mob has to show up, Nolan would not have made such an effort in the previous films if not such.

Pure speculation on my part, I know. But it makes more sense to have him as Falcone than another villain - useless at this point.

Not gonna take the bait, until Nolan says it, not EW or whomever reporting it. Unless that has happened and I'm wasting my interent ink for nothing. :(

Yeah the mob probably will show up.

The little bit of it that's left.

And what better way to demonstrate a side effect of escalation than to show that the freaks and the mob are merging even further?

Black Mask, new Gotham Crime Lord.

Wasn't Nolan's last effort to show the Mob crumbling and the rise of the Joker as an evolution to a "better class of criminal"? Plus, I don't see what Alberto could offer in terms of Selina Kyle or the Mob that Roman Sionis couldn't. He's a "freak" mob boss himself who was actually killed by Catwoman in the comics for torturing her loved ones, and as far as the illegitimate daughter storyline is concerned I'd rather see them break Tom Wilkinson out of Arkham or something than force in a new character that offers nothing else (unless he were to be Holiday, which just wouldn't happen). Roman Sionis's ties to the Falcone Crime family can have just as much effect for Selina as Alberto IMO, and if not I still feel Carmine deserves a cameo to tie up loose ends.

The mob would be too easy a task for Batman after the complete hell that the Joker unleashed on Gotham.

The movie needs something that can be a real threat. Something even worse than the clown.

I like the idea, but the overkill of villains is. . well. . killing me. And please don't come in and re-tell me how many actual villains were in the previous films. I've been worried about the same issue with both previous films and was *****-slapped by Nolan's awesomeness each time. Yet here I am, still worried of too many characters. Meh.

You raise a good point and I do believe Nolan was intending, if not still, on going in that direction - the freak villains.

However, having Lil' Falcone in the film, even as window dressing and a bit of a side story - no need to worry about his EXACT comic origins - is much better, in my opinion, than having Bane, Talia, "Deadshot/Black Mask" and Catwoman. Yes - I know - Catwoman has been confirmed as an Ally-Cat (;) ) but still a major character, nonetheless.

Worded it wrong. :(

I meant better than adding another freak villain. I'm very happy thus far, just don't know where JGL would/could fit.

Yeah!

These types of things just enhance Nolan's legendary status if you will among fans. :word:

So he is Falcone or what? Everywhere is saying it was false.

Then what's the point of Gordon's speech at the end of Begins and Joker's "they'll be doubling up at the rate this city's inhabitants are losing their minds" speech in TDK?

Escalation means nothing if things don't ESCALATE.

And in this case escalation means the rise of the freaks in Gotham.

Hopefully the new reports are wrong because I really don't want to play the guessing game anymore...

*sigh*

Deadshot
Hush
Hugo Strange
Black Mask
Gotham Investigator

Thats actually a really good point. JGL could be Black Mask and have a very Maroni-esque part, but the fact that he is a big name super villain just shows the escalation of Gotham. That could also fit into Nolan's "definite end" for the trilogy. The trilogy is suppose to be Batman's first few years on the job. By the end of TDKR, Batman should be a legend and there should be freaks left and right like in the comics.
