The Dark Knight Rises Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake

I've heard multiple people talking about Nolan having Alberto Falcone become Black Mask in the film and how it would work story-wise. I'll say this, I am not a fan of that idea at all and sincerely hope this is not the case.

If you can find a quote regarding this than I'd be inclined to agree with you but I'm pretty sure this whole talk about Nolan wanting Black Mask in past films stems from a plot summary of Dark Knight that didn't pan out to be true. I've been posting on these boards since before Nolan was even announced as director and I don't recall ever seeing Black Mask's name ever being thrown around as anything more than speculation. Comments like this are how false rumors spread.

I dont remember where pretty sure it was a video but Lau was originally supposed to be Black Mask but they changed it cause they wanted to take Bats out of Gotham City

Evidence of this one of Tiny Lesters neck tattoos was a Black Mask design

The whole confusion about Levitt's role reminds me of when Liam Neeson was cast in BB. Like some are suggesting, it could very well be that Albert Falcone will become the Black Mask.

Liam Neeson is NOT Ra's Al Ghul in Batman

In a bit of a blunder, Variety reported yesterday that Liam Neeson was playing the villain, Ra's Al Ghul, in Christopher Nolan's Batman.

The trade has now issued a correction, saying that Neeson instead is playing Henri Ducard, mentor to Bruce Wayne in the Warner Bros. film.

This brings us back to square one with the villains. All we know is that Cillian Murphy is a villain in the film, but the studio has not disclosed who.

:hehe:

EW and Warner Brothers are under the same umbrella...so I'm not taking their words to heart, just yet.

No, that's Hugo Strange.

Is most of you prefer Black Mask than Deadshot? Some says Deadshot's quite similar to Bane while blackmask doesn't...?

I didn't know Murphy's role was a secret when he was first cast. Did everyone pretty much suspect Scarecrow or were there wild theories?

Neeson too. As soon as they corrected it, what did people think of that?

Pretty sure if memory serves me right Murphy was cast right off the bast as Dr.Johnathan Crane they didn't refer to him as Scarecrow.

Neeson was announced as Ras than a good day later it was announced he was gonna play Ducard instead...

Have any of you considered that his part may be a physically athletic one? Nolan was really impressed Joseph was able to pull off almost all of the hallway stunts in Inception. It could be .....Deadshot.

The Alberto Falcone rumors had to come from somewhere. EW, which is practically WB, was extremely quick to debunk the article. Either it was a Ras type of situation where the twist in the movie is that Alberto Falcone is revealed to be the Holiday Killer or someone just got their news wrong. It's hard to say.

I'm guessing we're all wrong and JGL is playing someone none of us expected. Who really expected Bane to be in TDKR? I sure as hell know I didn't.

I say JGL is either going to be playing some mob member or a cop under Gordon.

Am I the only one that can't stand Black Mask OR Deadshot?

Man, I really hope he's Alberto Falcone, too. It's the only answer that makes any sense.

Let me ask this. If Heath Ledger had been announced as joining the cast of TDK, but with no mention of who he might be playing, what roles would have made sense?

^ To me at least, a character like Alberto is much more interesting than Black Mask or Dead Shot. The pathos and inner psychology of Alberto is realistic while not being over-the-top comicbooky. Right up Nolan's corner.

Since a good percentage of fan boys can't fathom who JGL will be and pretty much aren't open to any suggestions, I'll settle with amish and say JGL is playing Seth Green. I rest my case. :oldrazz:

This is what I'm saying - I've been reading and collecting Bat-books for 34 years, and while I LOVE the comic-booky, cartoon craziness of the Silver Age and the more mainstream adventures Batman has, the universe Nolan created has a very interesting resonance and depth that a character like Falcone seems to fit, versus a Deadshot, Black Mask or KGBeast (HA!) who are more stereotypically 'comic book' guys. ;)

You can certainly make an argument for those other characters, and I see quite clearly how they could both be contenders for the Nolan-verse, but dramatically speaking Falcone makes the most sense, no?

I agree with ya. I don't want to see Black Mask or Deadshot.
