Justice League Status Updates Thread

So Ryan as GL is in Justice League, but Cavill and Bale from the Nolan films arent?

Something's fishy.

I'm starting to indeed wonder whether they'll do JLA without Batman and Superman. Especially with Robinov saying JLA will launch the WW and Flash solo films too.

It'll fall apart again, I think. They won't do it with two potential franchises taking place, and they won't do it without Superman and Batman. Fan backlash, as always, will do the rest of the work.

What do you mean "they won't do it without Superman and Batman" ? Do you mean the characters, or the actors? It's just not going to have Nolan's/Snyder's Superman/Batman is the impression I got.

So neither Nolan's Batman or Synder's Superman with continue into the film, Didn't they say the same thing about "Justice League : Mortal" (Sorry my question key isn't working :) )

Without the characters.

I don't think they can have multiple versions of the same characters on film. That was one of the reasons JL:Mortal fell apart. Nolan and his team were pissed there was another Batman in play.

I want the barbarian Aquaman with the hook hand and beard.

Let's face it-- whenever people make fun of Aquaman, this is the version they're making fun of:

When people say Aquaman is lame, they're thinking "Lame costume, lame powers, lame personality." His costume is hideous, and the colors make him look like an anthropomorphic sea-carrot. This guy, on the other hand...

Now there's an Aquaman who I would not dare make fun of to his face.

Gotcha.

Same here.

I think Geoff Johns would push for the classic version if he has any influence on this project.

But I would love a combination of both, like on Young Justice.

Is there a link to the Mortal script online anywhere?

I want a blend of the different versions.

Well, Geoff John's is reinventing the character soon, maybe he'll update the costume in some areas.

Why the hell are th making this Superman film if he is not going to be in JL....are they trying to confuse. The audience or are they really trying hard to be different from marvel ...either way thi is stupid and I have really no interest

Although I have a lot of respect for Johns, he's a bit of a silver-age fanboy and that has not always sat well with me. I think he did a great job bringing back Hal Jordan as the main Green Lantern, but I still feel like it was a bad choice to bring Barry Allen back, and he's more or less turned Barry into a possession-Sue so that he can puff him up as "the ultimate Flash" while shoving Wally West out of the picture. Whatever he's doing with Aquaman, I'm expecting it to be heavily influenced by the silver age version, and as far as Aquaman is concerned I don't think the Silver Age is the place to look for inspiration.

The reason people make fun of Aquaman is that he's percieved as being an archaic character, and if you're going to try and re-invent him, you need to do it with more modern sensibilities in mind. That's why I think "Barbarian Aquaman" is more effective-- DC realized that the niche Aquaman originally filled doesn't really exist in the modern age, and so they decided to re-tool him to fill a new one.

I just can't wrap my head around every nerds obsession with continuity. DC doesn't have to copy Marvel. This is going to be great.

I don't want to see DC copying Marvel in that I feel like Marvel has a bit too much cross-pollination going on between their franchises. However, I do think the fact that Marvel is actually doing a real team-up movie that covers as many franchises as The Avengers does is quite impressive seeing as they've gotten most of the actors on board to reprise their roles.

If DC takes the approach of "these characters do not interact each other outside of Justice League, but they still exist in the same world" I think they'll avoid a lot of the problems Marvel has had in trying to secure 9 picture movie deals from the actors and getting the solo-film directors frustrated. The reason Marvel needs such lengthy contracts from the actors is because they want to have them appearing in each others' movies and not just Avengers, and that's the kind of thing I'd rather DC try to avoid.

Bad choice. I know he's an actor, but I think they'd have some bad press in getting rid of Aquaman's laughable reputation when Hunnam played a gay character who got buttf***ed in sex scenes.

Eh, the internet would go crazy with jokes but the general public won't care. Give them an action-packed trailer and they'll fill seats.

Really the fact that Hunamm playing gay was even mentioned as a reason against him it's just beyond ridiculous

I don't mind him playing gay, but the explicit gay sex scenes. It was mentioned on this board before.

I just think it would be a PR mess with Aquaman's already laughable status.

Even though I'm really happy with Cavill as Superman, I'm sick of these young looking heroes. I want Batman and Superman, specifically, to look like veterans in the JL movie. That's why I think having these two men play Batman and Superman would be great:

Batman - Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Superman - Jon Hamm

That's the other reason I don't want to see Justice League use a different cast from the solo films. Just when it seemed that we'd be able to put all the Superman casting stuff behind us, now some people are saying it's going to happen all over again. It's going to be an all-out slugfest between the John Hamm and gnilleW fanboys for second place. Do we really want there to be "Tier 1 Superman" in Man of Steel and "Tier 2 Superman" in Justice League? Wouldn't it be better to have the best guy for the role in both?

If it were up to me, I'd wait until they reboot Batman and release one Superman film before they release JLA.

That way, Cavill can play Superman and [insert reboot actor] plays Batman. They should keep the universe one, not a bunch of separate universes.

BUT, they won't do that. So, I'd love to have JDM and Jon Hamm.
