If it were up to me, I'd wait until they reboot Batman and release one Superman film before they release JLA.

That way, Cavill can play Superman and [insert reboot actor] plays Batman. They should keep the universe one, not a bunch of separate universes.

BUT, they won't do that. So, I'd love to have JDM and Jon Hamm.

Why not introduce Bale's replacement in JLA and then transition him into a new Batman solo film later? If they can't get Bale for JLA, they could use the movie as a means of warming people up to the idea of an actor other than Bale playing Bats in the next solo film.

I am really starting to doubt the company line that each franchise will have it own continuity, maybe it just means each movie will be able to stand on its own without a bunch of references or foreshadowing between franchises, not that that there wont be a consistency between the movies, casts included, or the continuity will clash.

Why else would WB put all their eggs in one basket with Nolan if it didnt also come with Bale and the rest of the casts? Sure, Nolan helmed the biggest superhero movie ever but how much of that was the "Heath Ledger" factor, the growing popularity of superhero movies in general, and the massive popularity of Batman that is bigger than the genre itself? Just because Nolan pulled off one franchise doesnt mean he will be able to pull off several others. Its not like he is a walking superhero encyclopedia with a profound understanding of all the characters and what makes them work best, its pretty obvious that he mostly just mines the big stories for what he likes and fits the story he wanted to tell in the first place.

I think it might also be telling that they made a point to use the word "reinvent" the Batman franchise instead of reboot, maybe it just means something will happen within the story to transform the Bale-Batman from the down to earth crimefighter to the JLA's master strategist with the resources to repel world and universal threats?

That's what I'd like to see, I am not ready to hold my breath yet. Warner Bros. has been tripping over its feet for a while now in regards as to how they can most effectively utilize the DC universe on film, and the reason we're finally hearing word that they want to ramp things up is because Harry Potter is ending. I want to see them get it right, but they still have a lot to learn. They keep sending conflicting messages to the fans, and they should know by now that we tend to get pissy when we hear things like "the regular Batman is separate the Batman in Justice League." I say either go big or go home.

That's the thing with Robinov and WB they say one thing and will likely change their minds again. So now's a JL movie in 2013 with different Batman and Superman, next it could be JL in five years with the same Batman and Superman. Robinov could've just brought this up now to get people to have JL on their minds through this year and through next year as they are watching The Avengers. Then when 2013 rolls around we might hear that JL is being put off for a year or two. He says whatever is on his mind and even when they haven't even come to a decision yet. It's whatever suits at the time.

When JL Mortal was being made, it was "Oh this is the best thing for us right now" Then when it was cancelled it was "Oh we gotta get our planes lined up on the runway first, we gotta please the fans" then it was "We're making the solo movies first, we have plans to make Flash, Aquaman and Wonder Woman movies" and now this. Robinov is winging it!

Question about the Marvel strategy.
They went into Iron Man planning to make the Avengers right?

I think one of the problems with the whole crossover thing is that none of the directors Nolan and IM guessing Snyder dont want to have a crossover. Since DC isnt getting directors who are willing to have their version of the character crossover, WB is trying to do this separate universe thing

I don't mind him playing gay, but the explicit gay sex scenes. It was mentioned on this board before.

I just think it would be a PR mess with Aquaman's already laughable status.
It wont at all except with some whiny fanboys on the internet.

I think it's highly likely Snyder would rather concentrate on his Superman story without interference from or having to worry about what the JL movie is doing or how his story fits into it.

Why the hell are th making this Superman film if he is not going to be in JL....are they trying to confuse. The audience or are they really trying hard to be different from marvel ...either way thi is stupid and I have really no interest

Yeah this all is just a big WTF for me aswell. They should do a World's Finest movie instead that could introduce a Flash or Wonder Woman. JLA is iconic with it's big 7 and they won't even care about the previous movies that are coming now with Batman 3, Superman and Green Lanternw, which might even have a sequel in 2013 if it becomes a box office hit.

Just seems bad business wise.

This is so stupid... WB has Bale, Cavill, and Reynolds so far. Three actors who are PERFECT for their roles yet they decide to neglect that and go ahead with another Justice League: Mortal approach. I love Nolan... but to be honest I hate the fact that he views his Batman as being stand-alone because he's more grounded in reality.

It's so freakin simple! Disregard what Batman did in Nolan's trilogy and just throw him in the mix along with Snyder/Nolan's Superman. Disregard EVERYTHING that happens in their own movies. Just write a kickass script with an epic story and make a Justice League film with BALE, CAVILL, AND REYNOLDS. No backstory or review of what happened in previous movies. You don't have to explain why there's all this super-natural crap going on with Nolan's Batman in the picture... the general audience doesn't really even care about that. JUST-PUT-HIM-THERE.

It also seems like Snyder's Superman is going to follow the Nolan approach and ground him in reality as well. Well SHOOT! If you're going to ground Superman, who everything about him yells supernatural i.e flying, shooting laser out of his eyes, super strength, etc, and put him in a realistic setting, then that means he can co-exist with Nolan's Batfilms and be a part of the same continuity.

God's sake just ground the Justice League movie in realism to make it work if you want. You cannot get any better than those three being on the screen at the same time. You really can't.

If TheWB wants to use the same actors, I am sure they could get them back for JL if they wanted to. They probably know that the audience wont respond well to having different actors in the roles 1-2yrs after their own movies come out. And it doesnt even have to affect the single movies, just bring them together for a group movie and then have them go on their merry way for their own sequels.

Well, the only way I'd bite into this is if John Hamm or Tom Welling was Superman for the JLA film...

Still... it seems... dumb?

But... oh well.

So it is confirmed that WB will release a JL movie in 2013? Marvel has been working toward an Avengers movie for several years now, and it will come out in 2012. It's funny how WB will just drop this bomb out of nowhere and deliver the movie in just two years later. There's alot of questions yet to be answered in this one, such as whether they will recast for the role of Superman & Batman a mere year after they have had their solo movies out. Same goes for GL after only two years after his first film debut.

Seems to me that Robinov is just thinking out loud more than anything. He hasn't even discussed with Nolan yet what to do with Batman post-TDKR.

The only way a 2013 JL will happen is if they have Bale, Reynolds and Cavill. They can't just have a bunch of unknowns or new Batman/Superman/GL to carry a movie like that. It was fine for BB and MOS to have an unknown as the lead (Bale, Cavill) because they were surrounded by great veterans. Bale and Reynolds together (and Cavill if MOS does well) will be able to carry a JL movie. Bale might be persuaded if Nolan is involved in some way and the price is right.

If they insist on a completely different line-up, they probably will need a few or at least one that can carry a film (preferably the Superman or Batman since they're the most famous). Or they wait for a few years for the public to warm up to the new Batman although I don't know what on earth they will do with a different Superman and Green Lantern when Cavill and Reynolds will most likely be still doing sequels in the next few years.

DC has the flexibility that Marvel does not. DC has a multiverse of earths. Nolan's Batman films can indeed stand alone!!

I prefer a fresh take on Batman anyway.....get away from the black rubber suits. Go more traditional.....no spandex....

Like this material:

I've said it before....let it be a flexible Wayne Tech knife resistant fabric...

Better yet....how about this new Batman show some scientific prowess that the Bale Batman has yet to show?? Let him develop the fabric in the cave...on his own.

Let's face it...all of Nolan's Batman's gadgets came from the mind of Lucious Fox. We've really not seen much as far as detective criminology skill or inventions from Bale's version.

So,, I think a new Dark Knight would be cool. And if they made him like this one:

I would be very happy. The JL and JLU Batman has given us the most complete portrayal so far, aside from not being live-action.

I'm tired of that Bale growl, too. It was ok at first. But in the 2nd film...it was waaaay over the top!

I don't see why it matters whether the universes are connected to solo films.

EITHER WAY CAN WORK WONDERFULLY.

If you're sitting there thinking about how JLA connects with THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, or BATMAN 4, then the damn JLA movie ain't doing its job. At all.

There's nothing inherently wrong with say, vague mentions of Metropolis or Gotham in the respective films. Or even the appearance of a character, or a broader element that belongs to the larger DC Universe.

And as much as I'd like to whine and clamor about how I want Bale, Cavill and Reynolds in a JLA film...I haven't seen the latter two's performances yet. Gonna wait for that before I clamor for them as the definitive owner of a role.

I'm beyond caring about whether we get the "solo franchise" actors in an eventual JLA movie. I just want a JLA movie. A good one. The mechanics of it are secondary to me. Marvel's approach is cool, but I don't want to see WB/DC just COPY it.

I do, however, want the badass Aquaman:

I'm sure as it goes on I'll be excited they just had better get the right actors and this time don't f**k up the script

Yeah I'd take that over JL.

Geez...how easy is it to do a FLash movie?? Speed EFX?? DC is just screwed up. I'm glad to see Green Lantern. But that is so much more complex than a FLash movie would be.

They have so many great characters.....what is the problem??

Most people consider it "the Big 5," since 6 and 7 are wildcards (although one of them is usually Martian Manhunter).

WB is the problem. They are convinced that only Batman and Superman movies can make a profit, and they've been riding on the Potter franchise for a decade now so they haven't really been paying attention to the DC superheroes. It is because Potter is ending with Deathly Hallow pt. 2 that they are slowing pushing other movies out, like Green Latern.
