Lionsgate "Power Rangers" - Part 10

On a somewhat related note, ScreenJunkies did another Movie Fight where the Power Rangers movie trailer was mentioned and someone posed the question of "Which movie villain should fight the Power Rangers?" I figure that they were thinking of the movie Rangers in mind when answering this question, so I figure that it was worth mentioning.

The answers were Unicron(A planet sized villain could be interesting), Skynet(to which I pretty much said "Been there, done that!") and Apocalypse(Also been there, done that!)

Apocalypse sadly won though. I would've picked Unicron. I'd link the video, but it is a drunk movie fight and some cursing is present so I imagine the mods here wouldn't like that.
Other than Unicron, if the question was posed to me, I would've said Loki, Thanos, Ronan The Accuser, The Dark Elves and the Kaiju's from Pacific Rim.

The super strength and hard skin probably isn't going to mean much against Rita or her minions.
Yes indeed. I imagine that the enhanced strength and durability isn't going to be as gratuitous as everyone thinks it would be.
IMHO, giving them civilian powers right off the bat is a cheap gimmick. And it keeps them from having to develop.

Why even morph if they have super powers without morphing?

That's a fair point.
To be fair though, it's pretty clear that none of the Rangers know martial arts yet and throwing them against Aliens that certainly aren't as cartoony or benign as the ones way back in 1993 is pretty cruel. They aren't Batman or Black Widow where they had years and years of training against all sorts of villains.

I think that makes it more interesting if they don't naturally know how to fight without morphing. It puts them in graver peril, especially if they can't morph or get to their morphers.

The trailer shows Zack possibly knowing some martial arts in the train scene... and Kim and Trini are seen doing a brief fighting stance...whether they're fighting or possibly training, who knows yet...

I don't think every Ranger going forward, if this becomes a film series, should know martial arts...but I think they should prove they have tenacity and fight in them in some kind of way.

Perhaps the reason they morph is because they only have access to a certain percentage of their power when not morphed? Let's say they get 50% (or less), but need to morph to access the full 100% of their powers.

All the blue complaints make me think back to this.

They probably will, just to show some real growth in the characters visually.

I can't wait to see Rita's fighting style

me too.
this looks to be a movie my 15 year old self always wanted to see, but could not back then because special fx had not caught up with my imagination yet.

I do hope she has a unique fighting style but I wouldn't hold my breath for it to be great. Obviously we havent seen much yet but its not often we get many movies with great fighting styles. In the preview it looks as though she has a tail of sorts for legs. Perhaps she is more squid like (similar to ideas in the Landis script) but can shape shift into a more humanoid form. Just thinking out loud here.

What to call this unique fighting style?

The Power Rangers Movie is in Vancouver filming re-shoots this weekend, and one of those scenes is taking place at a cemetery, per YVRShoots.

As seen in the photo above, filming is taking place at Burnaby Cemetery for what appears to be a scene mourning someone’s loss.

It's possible it could be a way to introduce Tommy whose parents have died during the movie or since they love taking stuff from Spider-Man, Jason's Dad.

This is like a frankenstein's monster where hes made up of other movies instead of people and not like mary shelleys frankenstein, more like the aaron eckhart one

Didn't know the idea of someones parents or parental figures dying was an idea owned and by the Spider-Man franchise...

Yeah, pretty much this.

I think it's Jason's dad. Maybe he's killed by Rita or Goldar?

lol not what I meant.

Some have also said that Jason's mother Beverly dies and that's what makes Jason act out and start joy-riding.

No but Spider-Man owns the line - with great power comes great responsibility.

....oh wait, no!

Stan Lee!:argh:

Anyway I prefer: With Great Power comes five overbearing and over-emotional teenagers with attitude.

Kind of glad that due to the nature of the film that Bulk and Skull are not in it......

Wow Mondragon it feels like you just told me Santa Claus isn't real.

Well to be fair it's slightly difrent he actually lists the powers.

"...Because of these great powers...
your speed, and strength, your x-ray vision and super-sensitive hearing,
...you have a great responsibility."

Not quite the punch Stan Lee gave it, so you can go back to believing!
