Please tell me the critics-- they're not going go down that route with Power Rangers. Hating it because it's not a 1:1 of the source material.
I read the whole review. The problems seem to be far beyond that for the reviewer. Bad acting, a really slow pace, super derivative.

That reviewer is an ass though regardless looking at his past reviews

Again, have not read through this thread or know if the spoilers are legit but, script had

Huge spoiler:
Yellow Ranger dying.

Ah, so we are already going with that. Its just one review... though technically two. One was posted on RT breaking the embargo last week but it was taken down.

Lol no just look at his reviews, he's always bringing up politics and Trump. He probably is right about the movie though, I wasn't expecting much from it. Just hate his reviewing style, it's annoying. I remember his Mag 7 review about Trump's America or some garbage :whatever:

Uh, this is his closing sentence:
If only “Power Rangers” had the courage to put down its mask and work with its audience. It may not be possible to cram a ton of crayons in a butt, but that doesn’t mean we should settle for anonymous photocopies, instead.

The central theme of his review reads like he's annoyed because it doesn't embrace it's roots from the show.

I am looking at his reviews. Don't seem all that strange.

It is Indiewire. They are a bit up their own butts. But nothing weird about them.

And that is boring, derivative and not fun. Does that sound like the reviewer had a good time?

Also, lets be fair here. We can't be talking about the benefits of nostalgia and then be mad it didn't make a person who knows the Power Rangers nostalgic. In fact it did the opposite apparently.

By the way, anyone who knows the spoilers, can they answer Narcissus questions? I am curious if that stuff is true.

God forbid someone reviews movies through a cultural lens!!!!
If this movie doesn't do well with the critics, it is going to be the critics fault for some here. They have already set that up.

That was in the leaked spoilers that Bleedingcool posted but no one has said if it's true or not. Bats123 knows tho

Reviewer confirmed what I was looking forward to from a few spoilers ago:

[blackout]open with a gag about a teenage boy inadvertently *********ing a bull.[/blackout]

But everybody who's seen it has said it's fun. He's like, the first person to state otherwise.

And I don't understand what he means by it being derivative of Twilight, Bayformers & Avengers? Twilight is a movie about teenagers & this movie has teenagers? okay.. Transformers has dirty jokes riddled within them & they're in Power Rangers too? Well guess what, people make dirty, crude jokes all of the time in real-life. Especially Teenagers. That's his problem. Avengers had a team of colorful superheroes working together. That's the only superficial thing it's going to have in common with Avengers. Clearly grasping at straws there.

That's him. Again, Power Rangers fans who have seen it loved the movie. Most people going in know it's a reboot of the show. Not a remake. Nobody is expecting it to "shed it's mask' and become the show with a higher budget. Except him

Looking at some of their past reviews, they gave Bye-bye Man a B+ :lmao:

So, just like BvS, MoS, and F4?

Early fan reaction is not a good way to do it. Often times, they are to easily dazzled by the studio.

Look, don't take the critics to heart. If you like it, than you like it. But don't dismiss what the critics are saying. I enjoy Ghost Rider 2 and X-men Apocalypse, but you don't see going on about how wrong the critics are.

I don't think it was just fans though.

You do realize it was a different person who reviewed Bye-Bye Man right?

And the vast majority of people who went and saw BvS said it was a blast as well. FF was good according to advance viewings. Why would anyone take anything from an advanced viewing as gospel? The environment is based around producing that situation. I don't even look at those talking about Star Wars movies and think, "well that settles it, its going to be good".

Your argument basically seems to be, "well I know what i want and I know what the fansites say they want". That isn't how this works. You have a least 4 people here who said they wanted something like the old show, updated. So lets not act as if your anecdotal evidence is proof of overall expectations.

speaking of Disney and PR

Were on the Little Mermaid episode of lightspeed rescue
