Just watched this. It wasn't bad until they got to the action, and then it was all downhill from there. Also, did Krispy Kreme finance this whole picture? Good Lord.

This was a straight up trash film. Nothing about this movie felt earned or sincere.

The sad thing is that I think they believe they came up with an original reinterpretation of the source material.

I think the cast is decent all things considered. If they had more money and a more competent director, I think they could've come up with something better.

Also, the visual production design is bad. Morphing is boring. Power Rangers don't really do anything until the end.

Once again, giving them jacked up super powers without morphing is cheating and dumb as well.

It had to rewind and restart this movie at least 3 to 4 times to finish it because I kept falling a sleep. That's how much this movie kept me interested. Hell at one point I shut the movie off and turned on the Green Ranger saga on Netflix. They really messed up not putting Tommy as the villain of the movie.

I loved this film a whole lot, the only aspect of it I didn't like was the fact that they took so long to become power rangers.
I really hope the sequel gets made, I have never wanted a sequel more desperately in my life.

Agreed, the set-up and introduction of the characters was very interesting and grounded. Then towards the second half when they eventually become the Power Rangers just got boring and flat very quickly.

First half was completely different and enjoyable, second half was just dull, predictable and flat.

I would say Dacre Montgomery and RJ Cyler were pretty good, they are definitely talented up-and-coming actors.

I watched this on sunday and ironically I was enjoying it up until they became Power Rangers! That last act was just such a let down and didn't really try and do anything better than we've seen in the 95 film or the series.

I just think Lionsgate went too cheap on this, should have invested more thought into the zord/megazord designs and Goldar, those things just felt half assed I think it put a lot of people off.

Dean Israelite Feels Power Rangers' PG-13 Rating Hurt It At The Box-Office

While speaking with ScreenRant, Israelite was asked whether POWER RANGERS' rating might have kept parents with younger children away.

"Yes, definitely. Definitely. And not only do I think it, but there’s been market studies on it, and the findings have been that if the movie were rated PG- I don’t want to go into the specific numbers- but if the movie had been rated PG, there would have been more traffic. I think parents were unsure if they could bring their kids to the movie, which surprised me, because the movie is a tame PG-13.

We did a lot of preview screenings, and to me, it felt like a seven-year-old might be scared, but in a good way. They liked that they were scared of Rita, but they still came out of the movie enjoying it, they liked what was going on. I think we really tread that line well, so it was disappointing that parents didn’t know that they could take their kids to it. I’m hoping now, with it coming out on DVD and Blu-ray, and On Demand, that parents will feel more comfortable. That maybe they’ll check it out for themselves and then see that it’s suitable."

A PG rating wouldn't have helped this steaming pile of **** that people didn't care about.

That's no excuse. Most of the top grossing films each year have a PG-13 rating. If you want a PG rating, maybe don't include a gag about jerking off a bull in the first five minutes of the movie. :o

I think he has a point, PG-13's been a death blow for Marvel.

Boy bye! If your Power Rangers was as good as your Sixteen Candles it would've done better.

I want to rent it but it doesn't give me the option on PlayStation. I guess that's the deal until it releases on Blu-Ray/DVD?

I get it, but still lame.

The box office was hurt by the poor marketing and generally mediocre reviews.

With insight like that, I assume Israelite will go far in this industry...

Market studies show that if Power Rangers was Rated G, it would've been the highest grossing movie of all time.

Not to mention, him making excuses that are this dumb is an indication that he isn't going to learn from the actual mistakes that he made.

This movie came out in a bad month period. It had to compete with Logan Kong and Beauty and the Beast now if it would've kept us January date it probably would have done better since movie goers need something exciting and fresh to come out during the winter months.
I just hope a sequel is made they dissect what worked and what didn't work bring a little bit more of the PR mythos into the script and choose a year and month they're not competing with other big movies and quite possibly it may get the BO numbers.

That has to be the ****tiest excuse a director has made for the failure of his film. The move bombed because it didn't look good.

I think he has a point, PG-13's been a death blow for Marvel.
