Um, please tell me where I said that?

This movie could well be critic proof, certainly opening weekend probably will be. However I don't think WB wanted this thing to be so critically panned if they were trying to launch a "DC Cinematic Universe" with it.

Critically panned?? It's still fresh how's that work ?

Yes, thats what I am saying. The RT data is basically what you have been throwing around and based on your nick even an infant will reckon you are Marvel biased.

The only thing preventing MOS 2 or JL from happening is a huge flop both domestic and overseas. And I mean like under $500.

Now, obviously WB would have preferred better ratings but then again the average score is 7.0 which is actually pretty high.

Times Square IMAX 3-d midnight showing sold out...Ill be there, tried convincing my gf to go with me...She thinks she would fall asleep...I have to get to work early on Friday for meetings. BUT I DO NOT CARE.

I am chillin like a boss during this mega emotional experience that is Man of Steel at 12:01 Midnight tomorrow.

My body is ready.

2% chance of anyone falling asleep.

OW may be somewhat critics proof. However MOS biggest obstacle has always been its legs with all the competition in the following weeks.

Good reviews generally play a strong role in good legs. People hesitant to see the film in the first week will usually listen closely to reviews and WOM to see if they should bother seeing it down the line.

If it is to achieve the $100 Mill WB wants, it would need in or around $33,333,333.33 from those days from around 3,174,603 people paying their tickets (prices vary).

Tony Stark and I have had our share of nasty battles over the quality of Iron Man 2 so I'm not his biggest fan but I don't think it's fair to toss his Marvel fandom in his face for expressing the opinion that he did. I don't agree that it's been panned...yet but the rest of his statement sounds reasonable to me.

Quote me for once would ya?

The audience, not critics, will say if it has or hasn't, legs.

Read the original post I was replying to. I said that at the rate the negative reviews are coming it could go rotten.

I had a post before saying, best case scenario was 70-73%, I think 70% is just about off the board.

The audience feedback is most important.
I thought WWZ is gonna bomb.

WWZ won't bomb. It's been tracking very well the last few weeks. Monsters U and WWZ will finish one and two when they open.

Yes but the audience often looks to critics for their movie choices otherwise no critic would have a job.

As i said OW the hardcore fans will be out no matter what. However when it comes to the following weeks and the more on the fence same day ticket buyers they often do turn to how well received a film was critically.

As of now we don't even know if there will indeed be an audience disconnect between them and critics?

The way you are tearing up the BO for MoS is eerily similar to your posts in the TDKR BO Threads last year. You are anti DC, lol. Just admit it... Own up to it (*whispers* without starting a war.)

Whatever :whatever:

I could give a crap less what you think, but for anyone wondering my posts on the TDKR board over the box office were right in line with what Redfirebird wrote who is one of the foremost box office experts on these board. You want to call him a "Marvel troll"? His favorite movie is Batman Begins.

What I responded to over there was a childish page long post that Excel put up on the Avengers BO boards after the 200M weekend where he had a picture of Bane saying "when your box office records are in flames, then you can die"

I simply stated (which Redfirebird also did) that the movie would not make 200M, which it did not, and I predicted 180M. The shootings clearly effected the gross, which I will not get into here.

So because I'm not over here jumping up and down saying "yeah it's going to make a billion dollars", you call me out as some kind of Marvel troll. pathetic.

For your information I grew up on the Cristopher Reeve Superman films, and my wife and I are huge fans of the Lois and Clark TV series. I've always liked Superman.

Yeah I was always a fan of Marvel Comics and Iron Man is my favorite superhero. I guess to you that means my opinion is invalid.

Classy man. Classy

90% WOM and 10% critics.

As i said we don't know if there will indeed be a disconnect between critics and audiences. For other big comic book films like the avengers or tdkr the critics and audiences were pretty much on the same page in terms of reaction.

OVER 200 million folks...I have said this repeatedly...The GA is dying for this movie...Just wait...I'll show ya...:hoboj:

Just because someone is posting what you don't like to read doesn't make them biased at anything. Knock off this attitude, please.

I remember Tony Stark's BO posts from TDKR days, and I don't ever remember him getting out of line by showing any bias, and I don't see him doing it now, either.

Didn't the highest grossing movie EVER only open to $70+mill?

Avatar is a Christmas release (Titanic too) so the opening weekend is not as huge as Summer releases because everyday in the Christmas season is considered a 'weekend' so grosses are spread out throughout the whole week and not just FriSatSun, and also the reason it opened at a "mere" $70m+ is because there was a severe snowstorm in the East Coasy that badly affected box office receipts but being a James Cameron film that didn't matter because people went in droves to watch it the succeeding weeks.

On the same token, just because you are admin you shouldn't reprehend posts just because you personally don't like them.

Additionally, he has picked not only MOS but the Dark Trilogy as well. Needless to say, he has high prises for Marvel ones. If you add that up to the nick you have Marvel trifecta.

If he is offended by that, which I doubt, because liking Marvel movies is not offensive (most people do, including me), I will apologize.

So, please, let's not make a big deal of out this.

No, because I'm an admin, I get to tell you to stop acting childish towards another poster when you disagree with his opinion.

I don't care if you start up a Powerpoint presentation to explain why you posted what you did, when the fact is: you shouldn't have posted it.

Agree to disagree with what Tony Stark is saying respectfully, or don't post anything at all. Don't make one of us have to make that decision for you.

Someone's wound up a little too tight, huh?

So, to apologize is childish? From here I come from, that is being polite and humble.

I have no idea what you think you are but dont ****ing try to bully me.

It makes me wonder how alienated you might be, thinking I not being part of this forum actually having any importance in my life.

Hilarious.
