Man of Steel Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 3

Agreed. When Iron Man 3 came out it was bashed for having a mediocre 78% and Man of Steel was heralded as the film to beat this summer as having "The Dark Knight" 95%+ critic pedigree, but now one day before officially opening Man of Steel is whimpering and struggling to at least get a fresh rating. Don't get me wrong I am (or was) rooting for this movie to be Batman Begins which is a sleeper hit and a real solid start for a Superman franchise. If it comes to a scenario that it does make huge boxoffice money. there will still be that lingering feeling that it's just a generic popcorn forgettable summer movie like Transformers or Pirates, big on spectacle, low on substance.

Yeah and it was blasted for not being good enough to make as much money as it did. Now that the shoe is on the other foot everyone is hoping MOS does exactly what they bashed IM3 for doing.

It's down right biased and hypocritical when you think about it.

Agreed. How anyone can label a consensus 7/10 film from audiences and critics, and universally considered improvement over it's predecessor, a vast disappointment is beyond me.

All right now -- you just waited for the perfect time to land a low blow and I am not happy. We're already suffering, didn't you hear?! Have mercy, brother! :woot:

Looking forward to Nov 8th though!

I think Thor: The Dark World has a great chance to be the best cbm of the year, and I enjoyed both MOS and IM3. New Wolverine trailer makes that film look like it won't suck as well.

It has an amazing chance to be second best. It's second best by default to Man of Steel. I could see it being just as great

And to top it off, there is that little irony that critics praise one whilst bash the other(and it's predecessor) for supposedly doing the same thing:huh:

strange days are a coming.

Reall didn't mean it like that bro, I was just pointing out some things that didn't sit right with me. I'm still pretty sure I'm going to have a blast watching this film since it's sounds like it delivers everything I expected.

Hell yeah I'm so excited for Thor:TDW I don't know what to do.

I think he's referring it being the most well recieved universally, which it's almost a shoe in to be.

It's not a shoe in at all. Nothing is. It could be brilliant, average or horrible.

Yeah I wouldn't call it a shoe in, but the GA is going to appreciate the Game of Thrones approach, that's for sure.

It's around this point when Marvel would be posting updating all their international success in the media.

WB could learn a thin or two from their model I think.

Yeah, MoS marketing OS made no sense to me. In some markets, there was next to nothing except for maybe a movie poster at their respected theatre

100% agreed. And those people who think IM3's 78% fresh wasn't good enough are now trying to justify MOS's 59% on RT? Definitely some hypocrisy there.

Forget RT. The only positive right now is IMDb user reviews :D

MTC is tracking MoS opening weekend at 87 million.

HSX is at $110-$112 million so MTC is not far off. It's anybody's guess right now.

*edit* you should have added that RS is at $140 million! :wow: I had to pull up the article myself. Holy moly, what a difference. I can't help but say I am not surprised since I have been saying $130-$150 million OW for about a week now.

Over 200 million...Just wait. I'll show ya...

Nah, man. It ain't happening. This film is aimed at a male audience over the age of 12. It won't have everybody bringing their kids to see Superman instead it will be "Will you babysit xxx so we can go see Man of Steel?"

Who has the better track record? HSX or MTC?

:whatever:
