Man Of Steel - Gifs/Avvy Thread - Part 1

The effects look fine in both SR and MOS IMHO. SR's effects weren't the problem, the problem was the complete lack of imagination and anything well...happening. It was 2006, not 1978.

That was one of Returns more seamless shots. There were some horrible ones however. Such as that hard landing in front of lex, a few shots from the plane rescue and that god forsaken fly away at the end there.

I expect a few duds with MoS as well, as I've said before doubling for superman is one the hardest jobs for cgi artists to do in live action. I just hope Zack makes the best decisions possible.

I'm glad that I'm not seeing any night time work.

Boots look too bulky to be Faora's high heels.

Yeah I didn't notice that either. They are pretty big and wide. I don't know if she'd have a separate set or it might actually be Zod or another Kryptonian.

Is that Faora?
The background tells me that scene takes place at the Kent farm and he is pushing her across the wheat field or corn crop. This is most likely when we see the ship land outside the Kent house in the trailer and his mom (Diane Lane) is confronted by them.

It's her. Check out her boots in the gif in post 159 where she takes flight into the fireball. Also her back structure is real narrow like a woman (compared to Zod's) as the cape drapes around it by the wind as Superman pushes her across the field.

Supes probably attacks her after she is choking Martha (in the magazine pics).

I haven't seen those pics. Do you know where I can find them? Also, I hope in this version Mrs. Kent doesn't get killed by her. Kind of like Spock's mom Amanda was killed in the last Star Trek movie. She lived in the other franchise.

Edit: Never mind Phantasm......I found the picture.

That was truly a horrendous shot.

Great comparison between the two flicks. I thought about that shot as soon as I saw the MOS TV Spot.

I agree. There were a couple questionable CGI double sequences, but other than that not bad. I think MOS will look crisper just by default anyway, because of where we have come in regards to effects.

^ The thing is they used CG where it would be obvious. How hard would it be to show Routh greenscreened in and smiling, rather than that creepy CG double?

That's my problem with that particular shot in Superman Returns. I mean the CGI is very good, but what is the point of it other than Singer to show off that he can afford this quality of animation or whatever? As you said too it just makes it really weird and takes all the life out of the scene that would otherwise be fantastic. Green screen Routh up close smiling and then pan out to the CGI Superman flying with those beautiful clouds and sunset.

some of those CGI shots of Routh looked plain creepy indeed
