Maybe the ship is a floating prison,a phantom zone, sent off to space before Krypton's destruction.Maybe that's how Kryptonians dealt with war prisoners. By sending them to die in the vacuum of space under cryogenic sleep.

I can't wait to see how they deal with Krypton this time around.

I love that idea

That would be interesting. i do hope though that IF there is a scene where superman receives a standing ovation from the people, that it's something that feels earned and not given to him just because he's superman.lol

on another note, IF Zod did have access to Kryptonian spaceships, then I wonder why other Kryptonians weren't able to make it off the planet when it exploded..hmm...makes you wonder.lol
Just theorizing, but what if Zod and company were off-world on some sort of military campaign/exploration, when the destruction of krypton happens.
After several years in space they grow paranoid and angry. They become ruthless and seek out a new planet to call their own. They are unsuccessful UNTIL they detect the kryptonian codex that clark activates. They then head toward the earth.

In the old comics, Krypton does usually blast its criminals into space in rockets orbiting Krypton. When Jor-El discovers the Phantom Zone, it is seen as a better, cheaper alternative to that solution for criminals.

I don't know what that means for the movie, but they could use some combination of that I guess.

I wouldn't mind seeing that too. Seeing the Superman shaped Phantom Zone floating through space has been done to death Smallville and all for example. The cryogenic stasis idea on-board a ship would be a great idea however it does remind me of Khan Noonien Singh and the SS Botany Bay though. ;)

I think I'd rather see Zod beat Superman within an inch of his life then see Doomsday do it.

Save Doomsday for later in Superman's career.

I'd like to see an updated Phantom Zone, so I'm certainly not opposed to the idea of revisiting it in this film.

Yeah...but an actual dimension. A spaceship floating around being called The Phantom Zone is kind of dumb.

I imagine the Phantom Zone is where he crawls out of the skulls. Also, don't use Doomsday. Ever. :o

I think the skull-thing is from a dream. Of immortality or Zod.

Are we sure they are skulls? I couldn't tell, but I only saw the bootleg footage.

With it been blurred on the clearer version you can't really tell but you can on the first version that came out you could tell they were skulls and it was reported as such.

You know if they ever did release the Comic Con footage I think I'd miss the crowd cheering at the first reveal of Superman.

I know some people on here would go mad but I really do think the Comic Con footage is the perfect trailer first full trailer to put out for this film.

I think the CC trailer could use a bit more "polish" before it's used as a public trailer.

it did feel a bit "choppy" how the scenes sequenced together, especially the 2nd half.

if they were to use it as a basis for a full trailer ( and I hope they do ), I'd imagine they'd do a little more editing to improve the flow of the scenes.

I hope we see a GOOD Doomsday Superman's Death movie. Either in a JLA movie or the last Superman movie the the series.

You can bet that any editorial decisions made for the SDCC trailer were very intentional, and probably went through at least a few rounds of revisions before signed off for finish, onlined, and shipped for the panel screening.

Not only that, a real trailer should have more actual dialogue, really. This was sort of in between a trailer and a montage...basically what it was supposed to be which was a short sizzle reel for comic-con. It wasn't really as fleshed out as a 2:30 theatrical trailer should be. It's so much that this was sort of left 'unfinished' or the like, it's that it didn't really have to be more than what it was intended as.

Yeah, the CC-footage felt more like an extended tv-spot. It was to incoherent and vague in plot-outline to be an actual trailer, and yes, more dialogue would be needed to flesh it out as well.

I dunno, I guess it just seems like a setting that could really work at creating that whole atmosphere of terror before Superman shows up.

Especially if it was in a tunnel/underground. All that darkness, people panicking in a confined space, echoeing screams etc.

If you use a plane, it's always gonna be about the spectacle that is him flying. I want something more grounded, more focused on him as a tangible hero, and less about showing off his powers.

Cause if a train crashes in a tunnel, helping people isn't just about one superfeat. It's lifting wreckage off people/carrying unconscious people to safety/putting out fires etc carriage by carriage.
Great answer, I like the sound of that too.

yeah, it felt like it was put together specifically for the convention ( which it was ).

and that's why, even though I love it, I'm kind of glad they didn't use the CC trailer as the actual 1st teaser.

Yeah I know what you mean I can't stop watching the CC trailer though but I agree it is abit choppy. I think the first trailer will probably blow it out of the water but I do think it would work as a first trailer.

Which is exactly why I think it works great as a fuller teaser than the announcement teaser. Save the plot, dialogue, and fleshing out for the first full trailer.

It's still too much for a theatrical teaser, especially this early. It works best for how it was designed, for a CC sizzle clip.

From what I saw of it, I agree with you.

I showed the con footage to my brother and he is super excited to see it and he's more of a Batman fan. He was gutted when I told him the film was supposed to be out in December but had been pushed back to June next year.

Nice. Well, I mean, that he's excited, not that he's gutted. :p

I'm sure we all share those feelings of... wanting everyone to be excited for this film. I want the people who always poke fun at the character to see this film and get it.

Why? who gives a crap what they feel if they're just going to poke fun to begin with?
