Marvel Now - Part 4

Avengers Arena will end in November and will be relaunched as something else.

Venom and Captain Marvel are mysteriously absent from November's solicits. Cancellations as well? Sales would warrant it... though Venom's low sales were stable.

So, at the rate they are going, it should just be a couple of months before Superior Spider-Man is their highest-numbered book.

Venom was on the cusp for a while. I can't see them cancelling that book without a relaunch considering how well Spider-Man books are right now.

So with Venom (potentially) canceled that makes Wolverine & the X-Men the longest, uninterrupted series at either Marvel or DC with 38 issues.

Why even number it anymore? Seriously, just put the month and year on there and relaunch every January. To the hell with it. :cmad::cmad::cmad:

I think I am only getting six books in November. Thanks, Marvel, for cancelling all the books I loved. :(

Even now the sales of the non-flagship Spider-Man books aren't all that impressive. Superior Spider-Man Team-Up debuted at a much lower number than Avenging Spider-Man did and I don't think that Superior Foes of Spider-Man debuted to all that impressive numbers either. Frankly, I think that the way the industry has evolved unless it's Batman, X-Men, or Green Lantern, I don't think that any franchise can handle spin-off titles anymore.

I think if they lowered the effin' price, they might sell more units.

I dropped down to two this year. This Now initiative was a real turn off and made it harder to follow the books, when it was supposed to make it simpler

While that may be the case for you, Havoc, I doubt it is for many other people.

Avengers
Captain America
Daredevil
Fantastic Four
FF
Indestructible Hulk
Iron Man
New Avengers
Superior Spider-Man
Thor

Have all been incredibly easy to jump into and enjoy.

I think the NOW relaunches have worked great for the most part and I hate the constant relaunching Marvel does.

I just haven't been crazy about the new rosters. They cycled out a lot of the characters I like and brought in ones I don't care about. :(

Haha, not surprisingly those are none of the books I read. I didn't like how inconsistent it was. Like some books double ship, others monthly, others delayed/late, etc... The numbering was confusing though with most book getting relaunched to #1, but then you had others which continued and others which simply got a name change. I really dislike the double shipping. That definetly makes it harder to read a larger number of different titles and if you miss an issue or two, its easy to fall behind and not jump aboard. That pretty much happened to me with some of the other books

Continuity within the X-books is horrible and makes you wonder if the writers even communicate with each other. Like Iceman/Kitty decided to not date in WaTX, but they are an actual couple in Astonishing and All New. Every other book seems to want to use Mystique as a villian and its difficult to keep track of that as these appearance doesn't necessarily jive with each other. And then theres the issue of redundant titles which don't need to exist. Like do we need yet another X-men? Amazing doesn't seem to offer anything that the others don't already fufill. Do we need two X-force books? If I cant keep up with the X-books then I have no hope with the other Marvel titles which were always extras for me. Right now its just All New and Uncanny Xmen for me and it helps that both are written by Bendis bc with one writer at least the continuity is there

That's probably the least offensive option, and is what most magazines do anyways.

Long as I know what order to read them in I really don't give a **** what the little box on the cover says.

Man, I'm worried they're canceling Venom, but they said some "big news is coming", I don't want them to get rid of Flash. A symby book relaunch with VEnom and Toxin (and Mania?) would be nice though.

Marvel wants to use the #1's to attract new readers. What happens when a new reader likes a book and wants to read older stories?

Like.....

"Hey guys, what issue did so and so first fight so and so".

"Oh, that was issue #14"

"Which issue #14? There's 5 different issue 14's in the past six years."

I think they could attract new users if they trimmed the fat a little, cut down on the spin off titles, cut down on the price, cut down on the cross overs and maybe just had 1 event every two years or so.

...I've been wondering....if the 616 and Ultimate universes are mixed up with ours, is the Spider-HAM universe mixed up with ours too?

I don't think that they're mixed up. I think it's more along the lines of all universes and realities are more firmly connected. I still haven't heard any real explanation yet as to why Angela and Galactus have been able to cross over.

But to answer your question, yeah, I guess it makes it all the easier for Spider-Ham to show up in the 616.
