What? Batman and Robin is a great movie for what it is. Great entertaining and replay value.

I won't go that far. It is one awful movie. But it does have enough redeeming qualities that I don't think it is the worst comic book movie ever. I'd rather watch it than films like Catwoman, Transformers, Ghost Rider or Fantastic Four.

Anyone who thinks Batman & Robin is a good movie is insane. I'm sorry, but you enjoy one of the worst movies ever made. It's not even so bad it's good like 'The Room'. It's just bad. It should never have been made.

The hype is your fault...no one else's.

I don't think so! Nolan, his associates, and various fans claimed it was going to be better than The Dark Knight. It wasn't.

OMG so much hype! Every other director ever in the history of directing say their next movie is gonna suuuuuck.

Yeah, it's promotion, and filmmakers have to do it too. Nolan may actually have believed TDKR to be better than TDK, he may still, but it's also promotion, and it's up to us to take that and either believe it or not and manage our expectations before we go in to see the movie.

I believe it is better soooooo. Then again I didn't hang out in the Batman forum 24/7, eating up every tidbit that was thrown my way. People who do that are always let down.

And they were right. It was better than TDK, imo.

You're in the extreme minority on that one. I thought it was decent, but very flawed. Consensus is definitely on the side of TDK being the stronger film.

Can't wait to see where this goes.

Well Batman DE runs only about 8 minutes and while I wouldn't say it's the greatest fan film ever made it does come pretty close in capturing the grim grittiness of Batman.

And proves why comics should be adapted and not replicated. I'm actually thankful for B:DE.

No, it's Batman & Robin too. Batman Forever suffers from tone problems too, but B&R is not this completely committed camp comedy.

Many comedies have serious scenes in them, too. If you watch BF and B&R back to back you'll see that the latter wasn't even trying, whereas the former had a story arc, themes, MANY serious scenes to counter the campy ones. It tried. It really thought it could be an actually serious Batfilm. B&R does nothing of the sort. The difference is actually astounding.

Of course it's awful. And it's enjoyable because of the type of awfulness it features. And who cares about where it ranks among CBMs? We're talking entertainment value here and in that regard it wins big time, to me.

Actually it is, to me. And are you implying that The Room actually should have been made? Every bad movie in the world shouldn't have been made, but some are more entertaining than others. B&R is one of them. No s**t those of us who enjoy it know it's one of the worst movies ever made.

Oh, I didn't know about the consensus. Obviously I'm wrong, if most people don't agree with me! I didn't realise that until now! Starting today, I won't have any fun while watching Batman & Robin, even if it's a really fun movie.

And I was one of the people who were wrong about TDKR too. Now I know, thanks to the consensus, how dumb I was. Obviously I shouldn't like it more than TDK.

I would even say every single movie shouldn't have been made. Because if bad movies shouldn't be made, how could we recognize good movies? Good need bad to exist. Or does it? What is the consensus about that? Because I can't choose anymore without knowing the consensus now!

What consensus is there about TDKR being inferior to TDK?

I must have been too busying eating my census takers liver :o

Well, I don't disagree that the consensus says TDK is better that TDKR. But that's no argument against personal opinion regarding the ranking of the Nolan Batflicks. So we're in the minority. Boo-hoo.

I find that shocking, everyone I know seem to rate it higher than TDK. could be just the genetic Aussie madness speaking though.

And I'm in the minority that also believes Watchmen was a marvelous film, so it's alright ...plus, let's not forget that every film is flawed. I am one to think TDK was just as flawed. Not even a bad thing because I LOVE The Dark Knight Trilogy.

And I also find it funny that you say this when chaseter right above my post pretty much said the exact thing, lol.

I definitely feel it's these forums that say you're in the minority if you believe TDKR to be better :funny:

No, no, I think it's quite true that people weren't as impacted by TDKR as they were by TDK. Myself, I find the plot to be more flawed than TDK's, but love it more as an overall movie.

I say the forums because I haven't found one person outside of the forums that preferred TDK over TDKR. I keep being told that TDKR was a solid conclusion and Nolan's trilogy only got better and better by each installment. Honestly, I feel people pay too much attention of Ledger's performance. Don't get me wrong, Ledger's Joker was brilliant, but I believe Nolan tried more with TDKR's story and made it more complex than TDK, which was much more simple. And even being complex, the story worked and was very powerful.

I think the same. TDK is an awesome movie. But I also think it's not as engaging as TDKR. But because the Joker is not there, a lot of people didn't like TDKR as much.

He is arguably the best CB villain of all time and an icon so that's understandable.
