Yeah, but you just know there will be some people like Jon on the video saying "yeah well, that's not the version in theaters, soooooo whatever !".
I'm personally not a big fan of extended cuts or whatever. I think that the best version should be theatrical. But in this particular case the film looks like it took some beating in the editing room.
Producer Charles Roven also said to Frosty in another interview that Zack screened the 3 hour cut to the studio, but yeah, too much material in it. I have zero doubt the ultimate cut will be a much superior film (and I love the theatrical one), but there are legit reasons why Zack couldn't release the version he wanted.
Yes, thick plot suffers from limited screen time. The film certainly required a little more elaboration or exposition in some places. And I feel African scene is so butchered, it stopped having any sense for large portion of people who saw the film. So let's wait and see what was intended to be in the film, but was cut out on last minute. Steppenwolf's 45 seconds indeed belong to the film.
IMAX limitations, R rating, 3 hour superhero film. It's a shame really because I can see the ultimate cut converting many who didn't like it, although certainly not those who think the theatrical cut is too long (felt short to me :D ).
And not for those, who think that this direction for DCEU is absolutely wrong.

I felt the film is too short too. :woot:

Count me in about dramas. I prefer darker stories. Pure fun is OK too, but I forget them quickly.

Funny seeing quite a few people intrigued by the deleted scene and considering seeing the ultimate cut :D

Probably seeing it for the 2nd time today, looking forward to it and i cannot wait for the 3hr ultimate cut.

Yes, Ultimate cut looks more and more promising.

I want it now

Sometimes it's even hard to get what exactly reviewers mean by "joyless". They didn't enjoy the film? Or the film is grim and joyless, reviewer speaks about it's tone and mood... Who knows.

It was plenty of joy watching BvS for me. I don't remember the last time I had so many thoughts and emotions about a film I watched in a theater.

100% agreed

Anyone else think the whole Batfleck murder controversy is getting totally overblown? I mean, we did not see a single confirmed death in the film as a result of his actions.

Hoping Warner might release the extended cut to theatre's if ticket sales slow too much or more importantly...demand to see it.

He blows up cars with people in them. They are dead. I don't mind, but they are dead.

About the HISHE video. I don't know what he's talking about "joyless" I felt joy during the movie... when Batman snapped that thugs arm like it was a chicken wing!

:lmao: Isn't it fun? :gngl:

What about X-Men 2 with Pyro blowing the cop cars? those officers survived :woot:

Cars get blown up in the Arkham games all the time and no one dies. I'm not talking about the drones.

If there were people in the car, they are dead. No question. Have you ever been in an exploding car? No, that's right. Because you'd be dead :funny:

I liked the brutal Batman angle. When you think about it, Keaton's Batman was worse because he straight up smiled when he blew up the fat thug in Batman Returns.

I just don't care honestly. He seemed like the kinda guy that doesn't go out of his way to kill. He'd rather take the bad guys in. But if he's in a position where he has to make that call, then he'll make it. I'm perfectly fine with that.

Quite a few thugs died because of his actions. That's undeniable. Anyway, regardless of what critics say, that doesn't happen out of nowhere. The movie constantly reminds us that this Bruce Wayne is broken, frustrated, full of anger. He's had enough and he doesn't care about his moral code anymore. Not until the very end, at least (you know, when he decides not to brand Lex).

Those who expect a person's beliefs and ideas not to change in 20 years are just crazy.

"We've always been criminals"

Lol the bolded was quite amusing :p

It's part of his story arc in the film. He doesn't care much about lives of criminals. Doesn't rush to save them even from themselves (see grenade). But he also doesn't walk by corpses, like Punisher (he disarmed and disabled many thugs instead of killing them). He probably lost it when Robin died. He's not the same as he was in his early days. But returned to his ideals when Superman sacrificed himself for humanity. He said, "I failed him in life, I won't fail him in death". And he doesn't brand Luthor in the end. Thus sparing him his life, since getting a Batman mark means he's one of the worst (rapist, molester, serial killer) and people like him don't live long in prison.

I think they did a great job on his character arc.

This exactly!

The batmobile car chase, Batman fighting, Superman saving people, trinity vs Doomsday, nervous Lex tapping on the desk with his fingers, dialogues between Bruce and Alfred, Bruce and Diana, Bruce being James Bond :woot:, and many more, just pure joy! :ilv: My happiness level was through the roof! :yay:

I loved the Lex's awkward speech when he was in his bipolar, manic phase, thinking faster and on multiple levels than he was able to articulate!

I truly liked the majority of scenes... They were all important to me in some way. And so for me, the film was a joyful experience. :yay:

Yea, when you look closely, AFAIR, the only scene where Batman shoots straight at people is when the guy with mini-gun shoots at him from the SUV and Batman in the batwing really destroys him and other guys around. But even in the car chase, he don't shoot to kill. He just tries to damage the truck, etc.
edit: But he really did not have time to make it other way, he needed to save Martha before time's out, so...

I've heard some people (namely Jon Schnepp) literally saying he killed like 100 people during the film! What? Have I missed some scenes? This is how people exaggerate the flaws in this film.

And his sniper rifle was used just for the tracking device. And he could have shot all those people with it!!! :whatever: :woot: So... :cwink:

There is definitely some hyperbole going on. According to some people he "brutally" murders thugs. Brutal murder would be torturing them, cutting off their limbs one at a time. He definitely kills, but he's not Hannibal ****ing Lecter.

Watch this guy's review:

Well, glad I'm not alone with processing the film similar way. There's much more to think about, that this guy didn't touch in his opinion, but calling this movie stupid and light on substance is pure nonsense.

I think he does it in the most convincing way of all Batmans ever.
