Just something I heard from someone I can't ID...so take it as rumor, but don't be surprised if it happens. I was told they're renting out the bar/restaurant for almost the entire time they're here, and that they'll shoot 2 scenes there...take it with a grain of salt until someone confirms it. It is RIGHT NEXT to 31st Street Studios (formerly Mogul Mind), and 31st Street Studio's Twitter account keeps hyping up Batman shooting in Pittsburgh. That makes me leery though because, as the extras casting director said today, no one associated with the production should be using the "B" word...instead using the Magnus Rex production title. Why 31st Street Studios wouldn't be doing that with their deal on the line doesn't make sense.

Either way, I live downtown and can't wait for shooting to begin!

Hmm. Yea I stop by the studio every once and a while to see whats going on, I haven't seen anything being constructed yet. Last time I was there was last week and they were still clearing out one of the main stages. I'm surprised they're hyping "Batman" also. You'd think they'd keep it under wraps, but I guess since its their first big budget film in the new studio they're excited. I love downtown as well so I'll keep an eye out at the Lounge too, thanks for the tip.

Heres a neat vid for anyone who went to the casting call

Kinda funny about that bar/restaurant rumor. Speaker Tammy at the open call today was talking about casting extras - who have had professions of which they're hiring for in the movie - and her example was about people who have had bartending skills.

Which would be awesome since I'm currently a barkeep.

She did indeed - and I put the exact word "Barkeep" on my sheet!

Where do you work now?

Nice info about the bar/restaurant scene!

I just remembered that someone said over at Nolanfans that one of the casting sides was about these guys hitting on this girl in a bar but she's ignoring all of them. Maybe a Selina scene? There's another one that occurs in a bar (the Mercenary one I think?).

Although I think we've established already that what was on the casting sides is not exactly what will be on the scenes?

Anyway, just some random tidbits.

About 3,000 extras are needed for the film, said casting director Tammy Smith of Smith & Webster-Davis Casting, a Los Angeles-based company that worked with Lawrenceville-based Nancy Mosser Casting to solicit extras for the film.

During the past two weekends, more than 8,000 people flocked to the casting calls, Smith said.

"I think there has been a very good turnout for this movie that fit the categories that we were looking for," she said.

Extras will fill non-speaking roles for various types of good guys, bad guys and regular men and women, Smith said.

Well done, Pittsburgh.

Man i hope those numbers are accurate cause that means odds of getting picked arent too shabby.

If they are accurate (3,000 needed & 8,000 show up), the odds are that less than half will be chosen. I say that's shabby.

They're renting out the restaurant just in case they need to shoot it other days or they've worked a deal where the actors and some select crew can grab lunch there every day until they finally shoot there.

Yep, looks like I'll be grocery shopping at Restaurant Depot from late July to August! I knew holding onto that membership card would come in handy!

They're now looking to cast 8-14 year old boys for "Magnus Rex" in Pittsburgh. Interesting.

Interesting. Wonder what type of scene it is for.

Now excuse me while I get a fake I.D. of someone much, much younger. Much. : )

Haha.

Interesting though. All boys school scene maybe?

I might be going to Pitsburgh this weekend and I ask, will it be filming then and so where?

Not yet. It starts filming there July 28 I think.

Correct unless they change the date, but we'll have to wait another month for it to start. :(

Anyone work downtown there that could possibly get pics or video of the filming like was done in Chicago for TDK?

Haha.

That's what I'm guessing. It would explain the school bus. Maybe an all boy's prep school for little Brucy.

Can't imagine Bruce in a school bus though. Alfred probably drives him to school.

Work and live.

A flashback? Interesting.

I imagine it will have to do with Tate's influence and him trying to be more philanthropic towards underprivileged young boys.

Has anyone else who went to the open call and signed up for Nancy Mosser casting? If so, did any of you guys get an e-mail from them today or recently?

I actually like the sound of this if the boys are not related to a Bane flashback.

Lucky boys... Can you imagine being that age and being in a Batman movie and you get to interact with 'Batman'. They'll be the coolest kids in school. :awesome:

Ya, that's what I keep thinking as well. But Thomas was very much about making everyone feel equal in the city. Maybe he wanted Bruce to take a school bus so that he didn't feel like he was better than anyone else. Remember, they did take the train to the opera, they weren't chauffeured by Alfred. I think I'm looking to much into the school bus...

A flashback? Interesting.

I would like that. Tate's influence could very well fit into that.
