I think Hockey is a more demanding and physically grueling sport, but take one play in football compared to one shift or play in hockey and football will generally be more "violent" I believe. I'm not surprised at all they chose football, but ever since the Mellon arena rumors I was hoping for Hockey.

Side note, I got my "reservation" for August 6th!!

Just signed up for 4 tickets as an extra for August 7th. If I'm selected Im definitely going, its worth the 7-8 hour drive from CT...and if its in Heinz Field I'd be glad to wear some Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packer gear :D

edit: I dont want to get my hopes up so hopefully someone can clear it up for me...I signed up, got the email and confirmed it, now am I definitely in or do I wait for a "raffle" type situation or something like that closer to the date? Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Whats the tickets for? You guys basically get to go be "fans" in the stadium? THats pretty damn cool.. ALso, Ive always wondered, since your there do they make you promise not to tell what the scene is about or is it set up in such a way where you have no clue whats going on? SOrry for the dumb question its just something Ive always been curious about especially in these batman movies.

Ugh, don't know what to do. I wish I knew for sure if I was going to be picked as an extra or not for the non-sport scenes. If I wasn't, I'd definitely sign up to be a spectator since it would be my only chance to be in the film.

Yay

My Habs closed Mellon Arena forever :woot:

They probably need a massive amount of people. I highly doubt enough to fill even 1/3 the stadium, but still, thats 20,000+ people. That amount of people, and the amount of fans who will probably be outside the stadium, I doubt they'll try, or be able to, keep it under wraps. Let alone pass out 20,000+ non-disclosure agreements. :o

I'm in the same situation. I hedged my bets and reserved two tickets for the 6th just in case. The only way that it could turn out badly is if they wanted me as a paid extra the same day as the stadium shoot and I had to choose.

I bet its killing Nolan to have that many people on set who won't keep a damn thing a secret. :funny:

They're supposedly going to provide an info packet closer to the date to tell you where to go, what to wear, what the scene is about, etc. I'm curious as well how they're going to handle the issue of cameras as I wouldn't think they'd want Facebook/Twitter flooded with pictures from the filming.

With such a huge number of extras I'm not sure how they'd manage short of passing everyone through a metal detector when entering.

Aw what the heck, I signed up. If it's my only shot, why not?

I'm thinking, too, if it's a big scene they might have metal detectors for cameras & phones. It could just also be a scene of a football game that they'll something with later.

Right, the amount of people to screen would be the biggest hassle. It'll probably just state "Please leave camera's/phones in your cars".

I totally signed up for two tickets!! :woot:

It sounds like you're good as a spectator as long as you can make it...

time to see the Gotham Rogues take on the Rapid City Monuments! :awesome:

Just so you all know, I am extrememly jealous of anyone who lives in Pittsburgh. I envy all of you, you lucky bastards. :cwink:

WOO! I love that they're having raffles too. If I won't be paid for it, a large flat screen TV will do. : )

Kynergy - I live near Boston and am still going to try to make this.

Well, it's a five hour drive for me, but I figure it's a one time chance! Just a rent a car and head up there from St. Louis! :oldrazz:

Trust me, if I didn't have to be in school at the beginning of August, I would definitely be there. But I don't think college professor's would take kindly to me skipping classes for Batman. :funny:

lol, ok...

Chelios playing strong at 43 isn't because hockey is softer than football, compared to Favre barely making it by at 41.

It's because hockey has all around athletes. strong, fast, good hands, good eyes, skating ability, zone play, etc.

football is a one or two task per each position. a football lineman merely has to be "big and tough" but for only 7 seconds.

while a hockey d-man has to be big, tough, fast, have puck handeling skills, time awareness, attitude check, goalie awareness, a hard slapshot, and other stuff for a minute to a minute and a half every other shift...

HOCKEY (Batman) > any other sport (character) in the world.

WORD. Also if you look at the most brutal accidents and injuries in both sports, Hockey is far more ridiculous. You cant get your neck slit with a skate in football, or die from a puck to the face.

Why WOULDNT you sign up? lol Theres nothing to debate about haha.

Screw Classes, its BATMAN. So glad I don't have to fool with that.

ditto, I'd love to see a football player, basketball player, soccer player, or baseball player have a;

- broken nose or
- shattered teeth or
- cracked fibula or
- concusion or
- something cut and bleeding

...and only miss a shift or two (a minute to 3) of a game. Hell, Wade left a game early in the playoffs for something very soft, while Ryan Kesler (Van Canuck) played the whole playoffs with a fractured groin and a broken ankle. Hockey players are men (Batman), while every other professional "athlete" are not as tough or amazing...

bazinga

Sorry for the rant but it needed to be said. Hopefully any of you non hockey fans wake up and watch the best sport ever this winter when those girly leagues cut locked out...

Really wish Nolan could have blown up the Igloo, though...

The truth has been spoken here in this thread today.

I'm going to talk to a friend about going. It's a long drive, but it'd be worth it. Will the extras get to meet Nolan, Bale, etc?

Also, if we sign up, are we guaranteed roles as extras, spectators, etc?

Does this not sound fishy to anyone else?

First off, why are they referring to it as "The Dark Knight Rises" when the Pittsburgh casting agencies made it quite clear that it will be referred to as "Magnus Rex" on all occasions.

Second, I've never heard of raffle prizes being offered at a movie shoot.

Third, why have the Pittsburgh extras casting call and specifically ask for sports fans when you're later just going to post on "BeinaMovie.com" for extras.

Sounds like a scam to me.

As long as they don't want credit card numbers, I'm good. :yay:

Honestly, I think they're putting out the Batman name because they need A LOT of people to fill up the stadium. Like as many as they can get...a lot came to the casting call, but it was still only around 8,000...they could use quite a bit more. I thought it was interesting they didn't want any children though, wonder what reason they have for that?

Looks like I'm going to be an extra for that football sequence! :D
