The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Paul Giamatti IS Rhino

I'm sure they will continue to build upon Norman but I doubt we'll see him as the Goblin in this next film. Now with news of Rhino I'm expecting Norman will become the "man behind the curtain" running the show.

I don't mean see him as Goblin, but lay the groundwork for it to happen in TASM3. I really don't want to see more of what they did with TASM where Norman was talked about, but never present. Especially with his son being cast, I would like to see Norman appear.

I wouldn't mind if they use Otto Octavius as a scientist who works at Oscorp. Like in the Ultimate comic and Spectacular cartoon. Maybe he could be caught in an accident, when Goblin and Spider-Man fight at the Oscorp building, turning him into Dr. Octopus. You could put him in a coma, so he's out of the picture, and he wakes up in TASM4.

It's all well and good wanting to see as many villains possible as you have to wait a minimum of two years for a Spidey movie to come out but first and foremost the most important think is character developement and progression, not just for the hero but the villian as well. The hero is only as good as the villian. Now if the Rhino was an opening credits take down, no back story, no set up and no impact on the main story line, fine, but you don't hire Paul Giamatti for a 2 minute cameo.

So the Rhino storyline will eat into the Electro storyline so neither gets developed to the put the are a three dimesional character. Yay...
I want movie with proper fleshed out characters I don't want to watch Wrestle Mania. I had the exact same concerns before SM3, the EXACT SAME CONCERNS.

Also;
Two-Face got the shaft in TDK
Venom got the shaft in SM3
Bane (ending) got the shaft in TDKR

You can throw multiple villians on screen and expect them to be fleshed out and if they aren't fleshed out they aren't memorable or engaging.

Or at all. Besides GG I would prefer if they not repeat any villains from the Raimi series.

Personally I would like to see Doc Ock and Sandman appear at some point so they could form the Sinister Six with the other members. Not to mention that I'd be interested to see other interpretations of those characters (including GG and Venom).

I dont want to be that guy who comes on here to be a hater. I enjoyed the first movie (even though i was dissapointed with its lack of originality and not a fan of Lizard) but this is incredibly stupid. Maybe they'll surprise me cuz i like Giamatti but i always hated this character. Such a silly "villain". Why not just focus on Electro and bring Harry and MJ in there?

So we got Electro, Rhino, flashbacks to Uncle Ben, Gwen AND MJ, Harry Osbourne, and possibly a hint at Black Cat. Is it just me or does this sound like Spiderman 3 all over again...

Yeah that's what I meant. Norman should appear in ASM2 and we'll learn about his plans and show him running the show. I think they may hint at him already being the GG but he won't actually appear fully transformed until the 3rd film.

A sinister six would be cool but they'd need more than 3 films to do it and do it well imo. Especially with Doc Ock and Venom. They should have quite a bit of time to properly develop their backstories. It's still my personal preference that they not reuse any of the Raimi villains aside from GG though and I'd also prefer if they not continue with the symbiote storyline being used over again. It's getting stale. Spidey has an immense rogues gallery and a plethora of stories to pull from...let's give Venom/Symbiote a breather.

As long as they don't introduce a 3rd villain, I trust Webb.

MJ will be a very minor role. Rhino probably will and should be a very minor role. Hinting at additional characters i.e. Black Cat, is not something that would cost much time at all. So, No, it is not like SM3.

And unlike Raimi, Webb probably won't focus spend time on useless characters like the cookie girl and her dad. That's valuable time you can use on fleshing out important characters.

I should point out that I'm not meaning Venom should be part of the Sinister Six, just that I'd like to see him tackled at some point. I'd prefer they use a more classic version of the team.

I agree they should give his character a breather. I'm thinking more along the lines of TASM 4 or 5. I'd like to see him done again largely because SM3 just didn't get it right. I liked some of what they did, but they didn't give his character enough time to develop and he clearly suffered for it.

I know Venom shouldn't be used so early again, but would anyone else enjoy it if they used the symbiote for a whole Trilogy? I would really like for Peter to wear it in at least two movies, taking on a couple of his more dangerous and powerful foes and gradually getting more aggressive in each Movie. Then end the 2nd Trilogy with Venom.

If we were to see a Sinister 6, I'd want Ock to be the Master Planner, just like TSSM. And the six to be Electro, Rhino, Sandman, Mysterio, Shocker and Vulture.

I'm not sure about a trilogy, but I could see them using Venom and Carnage for separate movies.

I pretty much agree. Though I wouldn't mind if they switched out Rhino or someone else for HobGoblin (who I'd love to see at some point).

I'm pretty confident that the sinister six is not a possibility for this trilogy. It would be cool fanservice, but can you imagine a live action movie centered around a group of six villains trying to exact revenge on Spider-Man? Worked great for the first annual, and the cartoons, but really, it's just visual fan service. There's no real story around it. Just cool spectacle. Like the Transformers movies.

I'm not saying the Sinister Six for this trilogy, or any Spidey film really. I was just saying who I'd like to see if it ever happened.

I disagree. I don't think it would be too hard to come up with a good story for them working together. Their motivation need not be simply revenge on Spider-man. It can be whatever feels appropriate for the movie.

As the Avengers proved, it can be done. But it's all about the execution (Does Webb have the same storytelling prowess as Whedon? Not even close, I'd argue) and setup (It took 5 movies to set up Avengers). So for this trilogy with this cast, I'd say it definitely won't happen.

It definitely won't happen in this Trilogy. But if they keep using 2 villains per movie, the Sinister Six could be used for the 2nd Trilogy.

Oh I don't believe it's going to happen within this trilogy, but I don't believe it's outside of the abilities of the director and cast to make it happen at some point.

Last I heard, the current cast is only contracted for three films. Is this true?

So you had the same concerns. Is that supposed to mean anything, like you have psychic abilities? Other than venom, the other two villains were well developed (especially two-face). They should be examples of why this could work. Don't be so pessimistic.

Two villains (one being minor) isn't that big a deal. Bothered is plenty of room to develop the villains.
