I'll admit I'm only judging by looking at pics. If I like what I see I'll check out the profile.

That's my preferred method. Although I like to read the profiles for entertainment value.
 
So far page 1 of the "my city" search consists of ALL fat cholas. Oh, New Mexico. How I adore thee.
 
Haha, I just found some girl that I go to school with and is in the play that I'm going to be doing next month. Too bad I'm not attracted to her or else that would be an awesome opportunity.
 
im torn on the whole online dating thing.

On one hand, im of the mind that it feels unnatural. It feels like "shopping" for a date, and I dont like that. I am very much a fan of encountering someone in person (even if the initial interest is based on physical appearance) and forming whatever interest via face to face interaction.

On the other hand, I also look at it like "its just another way to meet someone". Friends could set you up on blind dates (I've had none, but I have had a lot of friends show interest in setting me up with someone. Some of their suggestions I agree with, and would be interested in dating, others im like no bueno), or many other legitimate forms that aren't "boy meets girl, share intimate moment and fall in infatuation with each other".

I have a friend who set me up with a profile on Plenty of Fish, and I get some messages every now and then, but nobody im really interested in. I havent really been proactive on it myself.

Yeah, I'm the same way. Like some of these girls do seem nice, but encountering that person in person is a big thing for me. I know love at first sight doesn't exist, but I'd like to have a feeling like that where I see a girl in person and know right away that I'd like to give it a shot.

ive seen while on the PoF site that besides the online dating thing, there are a lot of "mixers/events" (i dont know what else you'd call it) for people to meet up in person. i guess sort of like a fb event
 
Hmm, I just ran across a profile of someone that I wouldn't actually rule out. Did not see that coming.
 
I like how just about every profile I look at starts out with a "not looking for a one night stand " disclaimer.
 
I never really had much luck with online dating but the idea of finding someone based purely on a questionnaire has always intrigued me. To bad I'm in a relationship and broke, other wise, I'd give this a shot as well.
 
Plenty of fish seems to be totally free. Now you just have to take care of the relationship part.
