Then push her to the ground.
....or not:huh:. I know this is sarcasm, but you're turning what's seen as playful by 99% of people into something perverse or evil. I didn't saying "tell her she's not so hot in a violent, demeaning or bad way". I said "tell her she's not so hot" because the truth is she's not so hot, and there is nothing remotely special about her because she is.

And THAT my friends is a perfect example of the strawman argument.

That's where you attack a point that nobody even made. Nowhere did I say I had an issue with lesbians, my POINT was the internal contradiction of feminism calling women who are sexually attracted to dominant men "gender traitors", when their mantra insists that women should be free to explore their sexuallity whatever it be. Do you see that contradiction?

You want to represent feminism then the first thing you say should not be re-enforcing negative views by resorting to ad-hominem and strawmen.

Educate me then, where does one draw the line between feminism and radical feminism? Is that line distinctly made cear for those who call themselves femisists or so vague that its easy to cross over?
I think her first line was referring to:
For an ideology like feminism, they sure don’t stab at a woman who prefers to have sex with other women, or mechanical toys but god forbid one of them is sexually turned on by dominant male power, and some how she is deemed a sexual deviant or "gender traitor".

She wasn't addressing the crux of your argument as a whole, as far as I could tell, more the attitude behind that opening line. As in "Why should they have an issue with lesbianism, there's nothing wrong with it." and then pointing out Rand's defence of the serial killer rapist.

It wasn't a strawman, because it wasn't some baseless attack - it just wasn't addressing your main premise.

I'm well aware of the whole, telling a hot girl that she's not hot, or ignoring her, or talking to her friend, or the whole sticking in a dig at her expense.

It just sounds funny. :)

No, I got that.

I'm not talking about it as a pick up line, more just for the reaction because generally the reaction is usually not as bad as people imagine it will be.

lol, what does "fairly easy" supposed to mean? Fairly easy for who exactly?

It's that "who" that really narrows it down. :o

I get more depressed the more I post in this thread... :(
You also have to ask yourself is a getting an "8-10" girl really what you want? Usually I think of 8-10s as looking that way because they're high-maintenance. Even supermodels IMO look like 6's without expensive hair and makeup products, and the hours they/other people put in to look that way. Do you really want to wait up for a girl for hours every morning while she makes sure her hair looks just so? Will you be okay with her blowing hundreds of dollars every month on makeup and/or hair treatments? That's the kind of money and effort it takes. I'm sure many girls, even many Plain Janes, can look close to an 8-10 with that amount of money and effort.

Do you expect her to look like a 10 straight out of bed? Because she won't.

I know, I know, most guys don't care as long as she's hot, but it's a lot of work and a completely separate image that even the models are sometimes uncomfortable with. Cindy Crawford once said, "I wish I looked like Cindy Crawford." Because even she, as genetically blessed as she is, doesn't look like that without help.

Me: Hi.

Her: Hi.

Me: You're ugly!. :)

It was as perfect an example of a strawman if there has ever been one.

I was not even talking about Ayn Rand being called a gender traitor for being attracted to a serial killer rapist, but about the source of the attraction – power.

My main point is that it is hypocritical of feminists to say that its wrong for a woman to be attracted to male power when they will adamantly insist that women should have a right to be sexually interested in whatever they want.

Women should obviously have the right to be in whatever kind of relationship they want.

Women should not be legally forced to succumb to a man’s will, but neither should she be ostracized for doing so by choice.

If I’ve got the line blurred between feminists, and radical feminists, then for the second time; Educate me as to where the line is officially drawn between the two?

*Slap and/or c**k-punch*
I've said something fairly close to what Erz typed. Neither of these things happened. Me and the other guy shared a laugh, she got a little pouty but whatever, it was funny.

Tell a hot girl she's not so hot. See what happens.

It can work better to simply be indifferent to her looks.

If she has an uglier friend you can easily tell the hot one she is not so hot, non-verbally, by chatting it up with her ugo friend.

For some reason it seems to trigger the hotter girl's competition instinct.

"He's talking to Becky!?!? She's my ugly friend! Why doesn't he think I'm hot? What's wrong with me? I'm obviously hotter! I'll show him just how hot I can be!"

Sometimes that works but the hot girl could assume you lack self confidence or just dismiss you as not in her league.

There are leagues now:huh:. I don't really feel I have a "league". If a girl is "dismissing" you off-hand, and making assumptions about you, she did it five minutes ago before she even started talking to you.

okcupid worked for me, I'm still with the person I met there and we've been together for over 8 months and things keep getting better. The questions are dumb but they're somewhat of a nice guide to have but we both didn't feel like answering them all or reading each other's so we can find out about that by actually going out and meeting each other.

I think we all have standards when it comes to being attracted to somebody.

Everyone's standards are different though. I mean, someone explain Christina Hendricks and Geoffrey Arend from the previous page. :funny:

I heard Arend has an excessively long tongue.

Low self esteem maybe. J/k. I'm not set on a particular type and personality does play a factor but there's girls who wanted to date me that were nice and I couldn't get past their looks unfortunately. It's more of a case by case but not everyone can just walk up to a girl and win her over. I think its worth a shot but there's no guarantees with anything

...like Anita says...

...you'll never know this. There are tons of oddly matched couples.

I always liked what Mark Waid said about comics "if the audience knew what they want they wouldn't be the audience". Same logic applies.

... *sigh*

Now, I don't talk for all women, and I most definitely don't talk for 8/10 hotness women, but if some guy was chatting up my 'ugly' friend all night, i'd be incredibly happy for her.

My instinct would not be 'I can't let a guy talk to her, they should ALL want to talk to me!'

You know what you call a 'friend' like that?

A *****!

Secondly, do you have any idea what you've just done to her 'ugo' friend?

I mean, this is a girl who probably NEVER gets any attention, even though she's not totally unattractive, just because she's always standing in her hot friends shadow.

And you come along, and give her this incredible night where a guy seems to have chosen HER for once. She's absolutely on top of the moon, her hope restored, her self esteem improving.

Your then going to turn around and say 'Goodnight' to this girl, and walk out with her 'hot' friend?

You've just completely and utterly destroyed her. :csad:

P.S. I know it's just a coincidence, but I'M Becky :lmao: Did you have to use that name? :p

If I were in the UK and I drank, I'd go and buy you a drink. :funny:
