Trailer looks good but not robocopic enough need blood ,gore, Abominated society , R rated Scenes in movie .

The robots walking through the streets scene looks like it's going to be great, I really hope we get a lot of him taking out human criminals and brutally. We don't need the over the top violence (which I love by the way) of the original to show that he's a ruthless law protector, it can be done tastefully.

I loved Robocop. I still do. Maybe because Paul Verhoeven ( fellow countrymen ) made it? Dunno

I still believe the violence in the movie made it into the classic it is today. Back in the day the movie was fresh, gruesome and original. Storywise ... it was nothing new. Same goes for Starship Troopers. Do you remember that because of the story? Or because of the way everyone got slaughtered?

Now this remake comes along and tries to do things a little different. Yet, it suffers from remake-eritis. Every single remake suffers from this. Why? Because we've all seen it before.

Nontheless.. I'm going to see this movie. Trailer suprised me.

I remember it as both. The story in affect is a tragic tale about the loss of humanity that goes hand in hand with the violence. That's what makes it Robocop. This is just using the Robocop name and an Iron Man suit to sell the film because studios don't have the balls to do anything original.

I don't think it's fair to call any suit in robotic form "Iron Man", aside from the visor flipping down it looks nothing like Iron Man to me.

Give it some red and gold colors and it wouldn't look out of place.

It does give that generic action movie feel but it still (visually) looks good and there's not enough there to say how good the writing will be although I've got a good guess with how ham-fisted they were relaying their intentions.

Not everything that's a good movie is going to look unique or different. Ironic considering how many people dispise this for not ripping off the original Robocop scene for scene and looking too generic. If they did that then people would just complain the opposite that it looks like Robocop rehashed and unoriginal in that respect.

This is a movie a lot of fans are going to be stubbornly divided on. Nothing can top the original but I'm not expecting this to even try. It's just going to take the premise of the original and do something different. That different so far has me indifferent to it though. Pretty visuals, bland dialogue so far but it hasn't made me dispise it either.

My only gripe to be honest is that I wanted the film to look grittier and not as clean, I want the film to be a little dirty.

Same here, I was hoping it was going to look like Dredd in terms of how the city looked.

It took me a few watches of the trailer to really get a feel for it and form an opinion, and after that I decided that it has promise to be good. Do I think it'll top the original? No and I never judge a remake next to the original film it's based on because that'll just be a huge mess no matter how you look at it.

I want the film to be it's own thing, and succeed on that premise alone.

I'm often overly cynical so I try to see the positive. Sometimes it's difficult. That's why I keep trying to see the bright (clean, not gritty at all) side of this movie.

Yeah I guess but to be fair, if they want it to be stand alone, they should of just loosley based the story on Robocop and called it something else. As for comparing it I totally agree, it shouldn't be compared, and even judging it as it's own thing, it just doesn't look like a film thats gonna grab me. But hey there seems plenty of people impressed on here so theres hope for the movie.

But if I recall Murphy has flashbacks in the original, giving the idea that deep down part of his human self is conflicting with the robot part of him, and he is still techincally "alive".

So it seems they just took that idea farther with this story.

Yeah, but it's a journey for him to recapture his humanity. He's clearly aware in the trailer of who he is.

Right exactly my point, they just took that idea from the original and just stretched it farther, it might be an interesting dynamic and it sets itself aside from the original, which to me at least is a good thing.

In the original film Robocop looked like an abomination. In this reboot it just looks like the suit is keeping him alive. It reminds me of Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader. I think i understand what your complaining about. However it doesn't seem to bother me.

Yeah, that's the difference I'm taking about.

Indeed, In the original, there wasn't really a conflict between the man and the machine. The man and the machine were the same thing. He had to rediscover elements of himself, but he wasn't fighting against a "machine side." There was no clear division between the two.

Rebocop (yep, it's a thing now) is a person who has machine parts. There's a clear division and they've clearly written a "man versus machine" conflict. It could be fine (impossible to gauge the quality of the writing from this trailer), but it won't be Robocop.

Saint do you at least like Kinnamin's mannerisms, walk, voice etc? Is there one thing about it you do like? Just curious
