Lets be realistic, if FC cast was so supposed to be the "replacement cast", they wouldn't bring back the entire OT cast and ditched FC characters like Emma Frost, Banshee and those 3 minions of Magneto. With the OT cast, they would just brought back the most essential characters, but no we are getting Colossus and the period where the OT cast belongs to is featuring more mutants.

Or maybe they felt that the OT didn't get a proper sendoff with all of the X3 drama, and this is to make up for that.

People need to stop being so ridiculous over the whole OT vs FC silliness. Both casts are great, and you're kidding yourself to think that at this point there aren't considerable draws amongst the FC cast.

And people are also kidding themselves that after this movie, the OT cast shouldn't be brought back for a 5th X-Men film.

If you read the posts of the other members here, you will see that they want Fox to ditch the OT cast after this movie and I just think its a bad idea.

No, what they've been doing is discussing the future of the series, that will, inevitably, move beyond the current cast.

You keep plugging this theory that they're going to make another dozen movies or whatever with the OT cast because you think that's the only way it can be successful. That just not realistic.

And ditching the OT cast to move forward is definitely part of their discussion and I just don't agree with that. They could at least 2 more films with the OT cast.

And I definitely didn't suggest 12 more films than the OT cast because that could take more than 20 years, so I don't know you're talking about.

And not that I don't think non OT-films will be successful (did you even read what I said about the Wolverine 3 film?), its just that films featuring them would have more chance in earning more than $500 million worldwide.

If you think its fine for this series for settle for less than $500 million per film and people wouldn't get franchise fatigue with multiple spin-offs (which Naji Assan suggested) like X-Force, Excalibur, First Class 3, New Mutants, then I take it that you are agreeing with Naji Assan's suggestions.

There's been no sequels to FC yet. So non of us (including yourself) have any idea how much a follow up would make. Past franchises lead us to the conclusion that a follow up would be more successful. But right now we have no idea how much. Franchises have to build, all of them. Including the OT. Which made more and more each follow up. To assume that wouldn't be the case with FC (especially if members like Storm, Cyclops Jean and Gambit are added) shows proof of your bias opinion even more. The First Class actors may very well end up being the new main series and not just a prequel/spin off. That's a very strong possibility.

But we can always speculate and thats I'm doing here and whats most people do in this message board. You have to consider box-office revenue when you talk about future movies. You don't suggest an idea and expect it to perform well without looking at different factors.

Sure, another FC movie just featuring the FC cast will earn more money than the First Class movie. But how much increase from FC's ww box-office, more than $100 million? $200 million?

And in my "bias" opinion, people would expect to see more from the OT cast after this movie, because they just got reunited after all these years and ditching them to the new cast just doesn't seem like the best decision.

Anyway, I know you all think I'm wrong that none of my points are correct, like Fox doesn't work like Disney, that the X-Men characters aren't so distinct to MCU characters, that FC cast will earn more money than the films featuring the OT cast, that this franchise didn't decline with spin-offs, and etc etc etc. Thats what you all do when I say something, disagree, disagree, disagree.

I have to say that emoticon is so ridiculous and wrong. The original expression is 'flogging a dead horse', in other words pointlessly whipping it because it ain't going anywhere. Two little people hammering on what looks more like a dead polar bear doesn't really represent the image correctly...lol

Worst. Emoticon. Ever.

Fanboy. Hyperbole. Moment... lol

Haha glad I wasn't the only one who thought that looked like a polar bear, albeit with inexplicably long tail! :oldrazz:

I'm not dreaming when I post this, and unlike you I don't live in a bubble with blinders from my eyes.

And wasn't this supposed to be a Matthew Vaughn film first before Bryan Singer. Obviously things happened behind close doors and some people didn't get what they want for "First Class 2".

And you keep bringing up that the First Class cast has the most screentime yet you seem to forget that Hugh Jackman is the one that will get the most screentime and he probably works with the FC cast for 50% of the film. Then some people will say Hugh Jackman doesn't count because he is his own entity.

And about Angel and Beast of X3, its quite clear that they didn't stay with the X-Men at the end of X3. Beast moved to DC to work for United Nations and Angel probably returned to his dad's house after he saved him. Its different with Magneto recruiting Emma/Angel/Riptide/Azazel at the end of First Class and Havok/Banshee siding with Professor X.

You do realize that to tell the Days Of Future Past story, the First Class cast is completely irrelevant, right? They are completely unneeded and unnecessary. Read the comic. The time travel came back to the timeline's current "present", which in the case of the movies, would have been the end of X-Men: The Last Stand / The Wolverine.

But Singer didn't do that. He not only brought back the First Class cast, and set it in 1973, but also focused the movie on them.

First Class cast is obviously the focus going forward.

Will there be a main trilogy cast sequel? Perhaps. But, while they obviously offer something to the storyline, their small role suggests that this isn't their movie. This is their sendoff / passing of the torch to the First Class cast who will continue this franchise forward.

And as if this film is a direct adaptation of the comic-book storyline. If they wanted someone to return, they would find a way to include them. They didn't seem to have a hard time introducing 4 characters in the future period and wasn't there a rumour, that Nightcrawler was considered to be in the film but Alan Cumming wasn't available?

Its fine if you think the First Class cast is the obvious focus going forward. At the end of First Class, it felt that way and people didn't think only 5 of them would return in the follow-up film.

You're right. And that's exactly what they did with the First Class cast.

If Fox was just focused on the main trilogy, they could do Days Of Future Past without the First Class cast.

But they WANTED the First Class cast to return.

There is a reason for that.

Because that cast is the future of this franchise.

Don't act like people expected the OT cast to return after First Class, that wasn't case at all.

And the FC cast coming back is not a surprise at all. They were signed for 2 more films and there were talks about a sequel especially with how First Class ended. Actually a lot of people including me, were expecting a First Class trilogy with the 2nd fillm introducing the younger version of Cyke/Storm/Jean. Actually people were surprised that Emma Frost/Banshee/those 3 minions of Magneto are suddenly out of the picture.

Then when the OT cast announcements came, look how people responded, it suddenly looked like a X-Men 4 movie than a First Class 2 just because there's more OT actors than FC actors.

If you think there's a reason for FC cast coming back for a 2nd movie. Then there's also a reason for the OT cast coming back for a 4th movie and their 1st movie in 8 years and one of the reasons for that is probably Fox wants to earn more $$$ at the box-office. It would be silly if they aren't considering box-office revenue.

This film will significantly boost any First Class sequel because of its scope and the fact that a majority of the time will be Mcavoy and Fassbender with Wolverine. I know Logan haters won't like this... but what if the next First Class sequel features Wolverine again? Jackman can show up in both times now. We still have no idea how the OT plays without him, but we do know he is worth over 400m alone to the franchise and can potentially show up anywhere. Add Cyclops, Gambit etc and Sinister as a villain and that flick would rank in the bucks as much as any OT film minus another event type film like AOA.

You're on the money here. The genius thing the studio is doing here is allowing Wolverine to join the X-Men in 1973 instead of in whatever year the first film took place in.

I too expect the next film in 3 1/2 years to star Jackman, McAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence, Hoult, whoever ends up playing the late 20s Cyclops, the early 20s Jean, the late 20s Storm and maybe even Kitsch returning as Gambit.

Good times up ahead.

Yeah, they really have alot of options. A FC film about Scott, Jean and Storm seems like a logical way to go for me, but who knows. It will be interesting. Either one should be just as profitable after DOFP. They will be coming off the same film in the end. Where Jackman goes does mean alot, but now that he can be in either that changes things a bit.

X-Men, First Class, X-Force, Wolverine, Deadpool etc. Lots of cool stuff in the mix  Hopefully we learn more soon.

your assuming that Logan stays with the 70's team by the end of the movie, but, wouldn't he have to return to his own life, to not effect the timeline any further...

If bamster's sources are correct
Wolverine's mind returns to 2023 after conclusion of time travel mission and when he awakes in 2023 has no memory of time travel mission and old timeline

There are lot of unknowns for this film.Bryan SInger has said in this film we
will see how Charles becomes Professor X and Eric becomes magneto and In first class was about how they become friemies but If
If ending in altered 2023 hints at magneto never becoming enemy of X-Men we saw In X-Men and Last Stand
that doesn't make sense.Plus he mentioned a lot of tragedy before the credits roll at end of film.
Magneto never becoming a villain
and stopping Mystique doesn't seem very tragic to me.

we are left with 2 choices at end
1:The event of trilogy,Origins, and the wolverine-apart from world war II flashback are erased because of time travel
2:The events of trilogy and the wolverine for most part happened but with a
few differences
Cyclops and Jean didn't die and at some point post trilogy magneto reforms

If it's 1 Hugh Jackman will be only actor from OT who will return post DOFP,and If it's 2 films with both can be done.

The next wolverine and X-force will be influenced by which way they go.They would likely be In past If this Is a trek 2009 like situation. If they go trek 2009 wolverine may or may not be In FC3.

i still stand by my theory that this isn't a reboot thing but more an extension of the universe

i think its very likely FOX will use the FC cast again when they have sealed certain actors in for a 3rd, so even if the next wolverine film is in the future new timeline i doubt it will mean much at all

I think Wolverine 3 and X-Force can lead into the new alternate timeline series. Wolverine needs to get the adamantium back. So maybe they keep that story consistent, or they change it up completely, leading with Logan reteaming with the X-Men in some form at the end. X-Force is a series I see as a post-2023, far future, series. They will be doing battle in the 2050's or 60's, and then maybe Cable time travels to the past to lead into the new X-Men series. I'd like to see an AoA tease or setup in DoFP.

The first Class actors are already committed to third film. They signed 3 film deals.

I disagree with that.X-force Isn't going to be In far future.

If DOFP ending is a trek 2009 situation X-Force like next wolverine will likely
be In past. The only way for X-force not to be In past at this point if if more
Is done with OT cast.

If FC3 Is next big event In series and films will center on FC era characters from now on X-Force will be in past.If trilogy and the wolverine are deleted from series cannon all bets are off.The next wolverine film may or may not
show how he gets adamanturm In new timeline.Wolverine may be a member
of team In FC3.

Maybe...who knows. Sounds like alot could be altered. Or once the incident has been changed doesnt that switch a number of things? [BLACKOUT]Mags could go down a different path and end up somewhere different, Cyc could be alive[/BLACKOUT], No doubt Logan would probably be better off, and be off his path quite a bit in the film.I think once Logan returns to his his future self thats when the changes happen so it wouldnt matter right? Thats just the new path. So If Logan isnt time traveling but in the past with the X-Men it wouldnt be altering. Just be one of the changes of the moment he goes back to the future.

The main trilogy cast is back for story purposes and to tie the franchise together. But this is very much so a First Class 2. And while it CAN be deemed "X-Men 4" in a way, this movie is all about the new cast and far more a First Class sequel than a Last Stand sequel. Even if the First Class cast was signed for more movies, they weren't necessary and it would have been cheaper to not pay the salaries to come back. But they did. And the movie is focusing on them and not the main trilogy cast. Because this isn't the main trilogy cast's movie. Because their time is up and the First Class cast's time is now.

They are the future of this franchise. Not the people who did a trilogy 8-13 years ago.

Is there hype about the main trilogy cast coming in? Yes. Because it's a franchise changing event with 2 casts coming in. While yo. say this film has hype because of the old cast being in, I'd also argue that the old cast on their own wouldn't generate the hype that this film is getting without the First Class cast. It's a two way street.

The super hype is for a franchise changing crossover of two casts. Not solely because it's the "main trilogy cast coming back".

casts.

I disagree there wouldn't be hype without FC cast.Of course there would be.
Your being too dismissive of OT cast.

There is a lot of reasons why there is hype

1. Sentinels

2. Days of future past name and story being turned into a movie

3. An Xmen movie is doing time travel

4. The FC cast return for their first sequel film

5. OT reunion

6. The cross over concept is always risky and that excites
